[Windows Central/Jez Corden] Xbox has turned a corner — the future for Microsoft's gaming platform once again looks incredibly bright

I like this that console wars are back. Well, for me, fanboys, console wars and trash talking about you favorite games and console are very good for the gaming industry, that is why I'm not critical about this things.

At this point the only thing Microsoft could do that would excite me is to release a gaMing version of windows that functions like SteamOS with a game scope and desktop mode.

Seriously I would legit love Microsoft if they could do that.

There's nothing they could do other than close off their ecosystem and stop porting their games everywhere. At that point I would have no choice but to get an Xbox. As it stands I'd rather move to PC because the future of Xbox just seems way to uncertain. So I don't want to invest in their stores. All these stores just doesn't mean anything to me and I actually don't like having my games/trophies scattered across multiple store fronts.

...... according to Jez Cordon.

They got spanked and now they'll tackle a new market which has huge competition already. To say the future is bright is incredibly optimistic, giving Microsoft the benefit of the doubt and I'd almost go as far to say, shilling for them.

But I guess that's what Jizzy is paid for?

I know these guys are retards but seriously I hope someone at Sony HQ watches it and realizes the stupidity of their strategy.

Microsoft isn't going to release a Xbox console that plays Windows games but Sony is devaluing their own platform nonetheless.

If they keep turning corners they'll end up back where they started.

… wait, does that mean we'll eventually get another Xbox 360?

This thread is too funny, all the shills on here conplaining about a shilling, but ironic

Neckbeards calling neckbeards out FML, sort yourself out you bellends

In terms of this we know MS gone for an ecosystem style, if it works who knows

I guess the people who say "we're gonna launch a new console" despite struggling selling the current one
Have you seen how much money MS makes?

And please don't say "but that's not Xbox"

MS NEEDS it's gaming division regardless of profit. It's critical for them to have a stake with or without a traditional console they won't be going away ever!

I can confidently say that every Xbox game won't be on PS consoles.

Like Ill be surprised if ES 6 isn't an Xbox exclusive.
Why wouldn't they want anyone to play ES6? Keeping games as Xbox exclusives makes zero sense from now on. Only reason to buy into the Xbox ecosystem now is Game Pass.

Eh, it's not like I don't agree with what you said, but they're way less willing to keep bleeding money. They bought all these publishers and studio, and the future of Xbox is off their own hardware. It took way less time for Microsoft to realize it than NIntendo did (as per Phil).

It's like Sony keep making smartphones that almost nobody buys nowadays (and I love their smartphones, like I only buy Sony smartphones for 15 years) cause they want to keep a foothold in the smartphone business, while LG and HTC just abandonned it. But inevitably, suggesting they're going the same route as before, not the best idea.

If this new console allows us to access our entire Steam library along with Game Pass (obviously), then I would buy it over the next PlayStation. PS5 for me has been a major disappointment this gen.
I hate to tell you this.....but you can do that right now with ANY windows PC.

You've always been able to do this.

You're welcome.

Should be interesting to see how these predictions compare to actual sales, come 2028 or whenever. I expect - and I think most people here expect - that this future mainline Xbox console/PC hybrid will sell poorly.

I suppose there is a remote chance that MS can actually produce a machine that does all that the Xbox faithful are hoping it does - integrates Steam in a way that doesn't make you wish you had bought a non-Xbox branded PC instead, while also retaining the easy, plug-and-play experience consoles are known for, and all at a reasonable price. I wouldn't count on it, though.

These people make me wish I didn't play on Xbox.

Wasn't there this super hot Japanese Xbox ambassador? I can't remember her name.

Edit: might be @misuzu1024

Yeah, he's a fucking shill and always has been. Same thing with Klobrille.
There was a time when I legit liked Klobrille, but once he stated that Hellblade 2 was a 10/10 masterpiece, it became obvious that he lost his mind and now he just sounds like a whore.

From a platform standpoint, the future doesn't look especially bright to me in the literal sense of the word. Microsoft has had a strong year in terms of game releases, and GamePass remains a great value proposition. Still, the broader outlook for the Xbox platform feels very murky. It seems Microsoft might be shifting away from dedicated hardware altogether—potentially reimagining Xbox as more of a digital storefront than a traditional console ecosystem. It's difficult to say for sure, as the long-term vision remains opaque, to say the least. I've been an Xbox customer since the very beginning, purchasing multiple consoles each generation, and the current situation with Xbox has led me back to PC gaming after a multi decade hiatus.

But they sold fuck all on MS own platforms and didnt drive gamepass growth.

Long dev cycles from expensive-to-run western studios, minus the 30% cut from Sony sales, I have to wonder if any of these generally well liked and reviewed games (Hellblade 2 notwithstanding) have turned a profit at all?

There still has to be some incentive to purchase an Xbox in my opinion. Making "everything" multiplatform wouldn't be the best decision.

At worst, timed exclusive.

Man, I know it is not cool to let people know that any of this stuff gets to me, but honesty the unashamed astroturf Xbox youtubers are literally the only thing that got me to really hating Xbox in the first place.

I bought the XSX. I did kinda love it. I did get pissed at a few things they did but honestly the youtubers that are fanboys on turbo-steroids only showed up for Xbox and there was a whole fucking bunch of them. I'm not naming any names but their leader has a mouth that looks like a circular asshole in his meme.

I'm not mad because I'm a sony or nintendo or pc fanboy. I got mad because the things they say are so obviously bad takes(intentionally stirring the pot) and I read all takes and acutally know that. Some people don't. So I get pissed at 2 things.

1. They think I'm dumb enough to fall for it
2. That there are plenty of people dumb and/or casual enough to fall for it.

I get it, capitalism and all, but this is one of the things that grinds my gears. I don't like seeing people, unashamed, pissing down my leg and telling me its raining. I hate this for every person that does this for any platform, but Xbox seems to have grown a garden of youtubers whose life mission it is to do this to me. Some of the takes are so dishonest it can't help but get an angry reaction out of me. I just do not like propaganda that is poorly disguised. Please at least try to put some camo on that stank or even a little bit of humor or something. Are they trying to anger people?

i don't think is about hating Xbox as something people can enjoy. but the trifecta of:

Executives statements + Shills + fanboys (who parrot the narrative and talking points) = has created a very retarded gaming discourse (especially on Twitter and around Xbox).

So… this is why I enjoy every time that kind of commuting takes L after L. But the ultimate goal is for them to not be able to spin anymore. That will be glorious

I think some of them actually believe what they're saying. That's the strange part to me - that you can be such a True Believer that you pretzel your mind into believing nonsense. But then, I think about how cults seem to attract and create these sorts of delusional people, and I'm not so surprised. I'm reading through Eric Hoffer's The True Believer right now, and he describes these sorts of dynamics.

There is no shortage of people throughout history who've been willing to believe bizarre, delusional stuff just to escape their miserable selves by being a part of something "larger than themselves." Delulu console warriors may just be a petty, silly subspecies of that.

See, that's the thing, they won't ever shut up, they're that toxic due to getting e-beaten for 2 generations straight.

Again, just look at what's happened (and keeps going) this gen :

- Series S supposedly more.powerful than the PS5
- Series X eats monsters for breakfast
- Years and years of broken promises..."don't fret, the games are coming"

- The games came (mediocre Halo, Redfall, mediocre Starfield etc etc), they didn't move the needle whatsoever , "you all just Xbox haters !"

- Rumours of them going 3rd party, "it's just 3 games "

- After everyone learnt that they'd actually release more than 3 games it went "Well, at least X game isn't going to other consoles"

- Now, after they've gone full 3rd party the narrative changed to "lol, keep buying our games Ponies, we'll be playing them for free on Gamepass"

Finally, watch the narrative changing again in a couple of years to "LOL, we're playing your exclusives through Steam on our Xbox PCs !"

It's a constant circle of extreme bitterness, denial, persecution complexes and literally e-inferiority®.

Literally the most toxic fanbase in the history of gaming.

Is he wrong though? It's true that MS have been releasing banger after banger of late and I don't see that stopping anytime soon.

I'm not interested in a PC unless it has Xbox written on it. I'm sorry.

that weird relationship between executives and shills, gave us one of the most epic and legendary moments in gaming history:

Tim Dog's 7 hours twitter crash out stream.

Once Phil is out, the rest of the concubines will feel abandoned and directionless.
