Also, it's the most frightening 7 minutes of your life.
My phone has an issue off restarting all the time. After I did it- it did it more then ever and I was like "WTF DID I DOOOO" then I left it alone and its been fine since. If not better.

Microsoft warns ChevronWP7.Updater will prevent all future official updates

Well shit :(

I see that as a non issue. No doubt we will see work arounds made.

Oh no! If you update, you won't get all the many awesome updates MS has planned all year long!! Guys, think of all those updates!!

Save the Microsoft Phone Tool. Use it again when another update is available. Rolls you back to the shipped firmware.

I was thinking isn't that all you got to do anyway is to use Microsoft "repair" tools to reverse your ROM back.

Anyway, it's not hard to make us early adoters happy. Microsoft should have known better than to overpromise and underdeliver (again) or promise things they know they could not deliver such as not having carrier block the update. Frankly the last few months already shown how clueless Microsoft still is in mobile phone arena and if they continue at this pace they will never catch up to iPhone let alone the Android that about to take over the world. May be Nokia will save them.

NPD report that Windows Phone sold an abysmal 2% in December.

Congratulations, that's better than the Zune at launch, I think. :lol

Here is the interview , well apparently not as well as webOS and Android ...also what doesn't sell better than Zune.

The Windows Phone 7 debuted in early November, so the survey captured November until the end of the year. We found Windows Phone 7 captured 2 percent of the market in the fourth quarter of 2010. Of course, it was not available for all of the quarter so that affected its standing. It was still a lower part of the percentage of the market than we had seen with other smartphone operating systems, including Android and even webOS. Android captured I think 9 percent in first quarter and webOS got 4 percent.

yea but what I found was I always hated the stock colors because they were all too light or vibrant for everyday use (on FOCUS) with poor contrast texting except for brown. Just tweaking the stock colors a bit (darker/richer) made them perfect IMO.

I usually have my brightness on medium which as you know is pretty danged bright already. I tweeked the stock blue, green red, purple, orange and teal to be PERFECT now and then added Navy blue, Grey/blue, dk green. Love it

In fact when I see videos or pics of other windows phones (not focus) i always say that the colors look more natural. I wonder if the super Amoled screen handles those stock colors differently and Samsung didn't tweak them?
I know what you mean and yes I read many review that samoled is NOT very accurate.

Are the numbers even comparable though? 2% of a market of 200 million smart phones isn't bad compared to 9% of a market of 50 million smart phones. I'm just pulling the numbers out of my ass, but it will surely be much more difficult to gain market share in this significantly larger and more competitive market.

You shut your filthy mouth!! The screen on my Focus is gorgeous, especially next to the washed out LCD's on the Surround and Quantum.

This is pretty much a disaster. My phone is practically useless as a media device. Doesn't seem to be syncing in either direction. My podcasts aren't updating.

FUCK

COME AT ME BRO

Seriously ... go munch on a bag of dicks. I've been posting as I'm trying to remedy the situation. I'm hardly POSTING IN ANGER!!!!111! The point is to warn people of potential issues doing a manual update.

Anywho ... I've done a full reinstall of Zune and things appear to be functioning so far. I'll post if things change.

I was about to post this link below and I understand your anxious so no problem. I would be a little wary about using the Chevron 7 updater due to the lack of backup.

It actually wasn't any of the above issues (it was a C00D1197 (80070003) error when trying to sync from the phone, and I forget the error attempting to update new podcasts on the Zune PC software - think it may have been the same).

Regardless, a new install solved the issues.

questions to the experts:

1) Is it possible to have only one Windows Live ID attached to the phone?
2) What happens when you change the Windows Live ID of your phone (i.e. attach it to another Live ID using Zune)? Do you loose all the licenses and applications you have with the previous Live ID or the new ID can still use the old programs?

I am asking because I want to try some programs not available in the WP7 marketplace of my Windows Live ID, I may have to download them using a different Live ID.

yea it rocks LOL.... Samsung just needs to optimize the color profile of the themes to make the stock WP7 colors more correct to the eye compared to the other phones

to change Windows ID for purchasing you need to do a full reset of phone (at this time).

LAst time I read about it supposedly it would allow you to retain your old licenses IF you also change your Zune/Xbox Live ID to the same thing. But with the caveat that it may NOT retain all licenses... so yea it's dicey.

You can have many Live accounts (email. skydrive, contacts, calendars etc) but only one for MP/zune

This I can get behind!

Improving bit-depth to prevent the atrocious color banding would be nice as well :\

No idea regarding the 2nd. For the 1st though, I only have one Windows Live ID.

What app will let you change the colors? I have been looking for a good one for a while but post nodo I can't get it re-unbranded so I can run custom programs.

You need a developer unlock Windows Phone 7 and download accent changer homebrew app. I believe it's only for Focus. (I could be wrong).

I've just had an HTC Update come through on Zune - (I've already got NoDo) - Im in the UK on O2 - anyone know what this is?

Someone mention several post back, also report on XDA forum no one seems to know what it fix if anything.

I upgraded to Nodo a couple of days ago. At first I thought it had destroyed my battery life; after not touching my phone all day it had went to 25% battery within 12 hours of doing nothing. So I left it on charge last night and this morning I've took it off... Still at around 25%. Either my battery isn't charging fully, or the meter is refusing to fill to give me an accurate battery life. I think it's the latter which isn't as disastrous, but its incredibly annoying. I'm going to use my phone a lot today and see if my battery lasts as long as it should. It's a Samsung Omnia 7 by the way. Updated by unlocking and doing the internet disconnect trick in Zune.

Try using the phone until battery is at 0% and switches itself off. Take the battery out then back in, charge until battery looks full.

Fo'real?! Nice! Any other improvements to the browser?
Not that I'm aware of. I'll keep sniffing around though. Still no flash so no porn. Its a shame a damn shame...

The change in speed of loading for rocket riot is very noticeable. Puzzle Quest 2 is now playable with long load time but it's no longer ridiculous...

OH NO! You mean I won't be able to receive the official updates that will come out three months after I get them through Chevron? OH NO!

My windows Live ID wont sync on my phone it says the password is incorrect. Then I go to my computer use the same password to sign into my windows live ID and it lets me in? I really don't use it much but I would love for it to sync I should just call MS huh?

From what I have been reading, that may not address this issue.
It will, but if exchanging the phone doesn't work, do what you should've done in the first place and get a Focus instead. :P
