Every WP7 will get the Mango update. The Verizon Trophy is just the CDMA version of a phone that has been available since launch.cool_dude_2049 said:I hope to god that this new preview doesn't have to deal with a new Windows software that wont work on Windows 7 phone. If the trophy comes out this week and I get it just to find out two weeks later it wont be compatible with cool new shit, i'll be pissed.
Maybe i'm just being paranoid.
Speaking of Zune, I can't wait for the updated PC client.Ultimatum said:7.5 would be perfect if they expand on the Zune features
What's the deal with not having options to display most played songs, or the songs you rate with a heart in the computer client? Smart DJ would be cool too.

bing is worthless here, but i love it with all its features enabled when turned to american.
i will be really angry if stuff like navigation in 7.5 will be NA only.
You can to that. Its called an autoplaylist. Just go into the playlist tab in the Zune software and create one with the criteria you want. You can make a plethora of different types of playlists that suit your needs.Ultimatum said:7.5 would be perfect if they expand on the Zune features

I dont see why audio search wouldnt be available in Europe... I thought the main reason for missing features was content licensing issues. Hey, isn't maps supposed to be using Nokia's Ovi software in the Mango release? It's a bit amusing that RIM is getting Bing Maps for BB just as Microsoft is getting Ovi for WP7brotkasten said:You might want to sit down ...
I have no idea if Bing navigation will be NA only.
e: But seriously, the podcast marketplace on the phone is already NA only, so it doesn't look good for other features. I doubt features like audio search will be available in Europe.
I have it on good word they'll just be adding stuff that "was already done on WP7/Android/Palm/Blackberry and Apple is going to make it look like they invented it!"giga said:I have it on good word that they won't be adding anything new.
Teetris said:Anyone test their code out on the WP7 emulator from Microsoft? Can it run everything you throw at it or do you need an actual phone to test most stuff?
Ah yeah, that's what I wanted to know. Thanks!PG2G said:You need an actual phone to get a good idea of the performance on an actual device. The WP7 emulator and tools will get a lot of nice new features that it didn't have before with the upcoming software updates, things like the ability to more easily test location and motion.

Man, that sucks. You're going to use the nexus as your primary phone now or are you going to get a replacement for the focus?VanMardigan said:It was an uneven tar surface, no case would've helped.
I am sorry, so much for gorilla glass.VanMardigan said:It was an uneven tar surface, no case would've helped.
I'll use the Nexus One for now. My repair options seem limited since Samsung does not recognize the imei#. I'll call At&t and see if they can makes sense of that number, but they don't have to help, I bought the phone on ebay.brotkasten said:Man, that sucks. Can you buy insurance from phones that are not bought from them?Insurance is only $5 a month, man!

Well, a front-facing camera isn't required in the updated chassis spec, iirc. So it's up to the manufacturer. Remember, Microsoft wants to keep the costs for the minimum specs low.antiquegamer said:So Microsoft buying Skype, can we pretty much expect next Windows phone to have two cameras or will this be another one of those where competitor platform get better service than Microsoft own like Bing...
I thought they were going with two different specs, with one for low end phones? What's the updated chassis spec anyway? (Any chance of retina displays :?)brotkasten said:Well, a front-facing camera isn't required in the updated chassis spec, iirc. So it's up to the manufacturer. Didn't they scrap the second chassis before the deal with Nokia? I thought they were bringing it back so Nokia could do their low priced phones for certain regions?brotkasten said:They scrapped the second chassis. The new one is a slightly updated version of what we have. They only added the second gen Snapdragon and an optional Gyro. Everything else is still the same.

They confirmed at MIX11 that this would be the only new chassis for now. And again, it's all minimum specs. Manufacturers are free to use more RAM, storage, megapixels and a faster CPU.Charred Greyface said:Didn't they scrap the second chassis before the deal with Nokia? The memory requirements could be raised, although most of the phones already have 512MB of RAM. No more 8GB storage space like the Focus, please. I wish the manufacturers would deliver more innovative handsets: High-res displays, optical zoom, notification leds (make the windows button glow with different colors for each pane)... bah, we've already seen Dell's roadmap and there really isn't anything new there. *shrug* not that WP7 phones aren't good devices already.

It's true that they can't use unsupported SoCs, but a 1.4GHz 8255T wouldn't be that bad. Remember, this is the second gen Snapdragon, where the 7230 with 800MHz is as fast as the 1GHz QSD8250.PG2G said:But not free to use an unsupported SoC (which means chances are slim for something more than the 1.4 Ghz 8X55T) and not allowed to change the display resolution (so no retina/qHD for us).
I expect things to change some if they migrate to a windows 8 core. NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments are partnered up with them for windows 8 ARM. Hopefully there will be more variation then.
