I like the idea of purchasing an app or song on your computer, or importing some photos from your camera to your computer, and having them pushed to your other devices without needing to sync or download manually. If that doesn't float your boat, you're free to turn off automatic downloads. :)

It's a HUGE step up for Apple. If MS didn't compress the pics when uploading, we'd be at the same place already with WP7 in terms of photos. I think the quibble may be with having to turn off automatic downloads on the machines. I think it should be off by default (correct me if it already is, your post didn't make it seem that way). The music thing is a non-issue for Zune subscribers, although we can't do 10 devices. That's awesome.

Speaking of the cloud I really hope they do the same stuff for the phone possibly giving us more xbox-wp7 integrations. That is still my biggest disappointment with xbox at e3 this year. Almost nothing about wp7 (and was also holding out slight hope for an xbox portable).

So one thing about my Omnia 7 is irritating. It is way too loud! Even at level 1 it is too loud for games or watching videos, there is no soft raising, it is OFF or ON at 1 and then it gets ridiculous loud at the higher levels.

not to laugh at your problem but this is pretty hilarious when considering another guy here's finding it too quiet.

edit: damnit, beaten.

Interesting, I need to record a video because it is crazy.

Thats the closest thing out there, but its still not the same.

It looks like a slightly modified Zune HD casing, to me. Being a Zune HD owner, that's what came to mind to me almost immediately.

So hyped, getting an HTC Surround this Friday from craigslist to replace my broken phone!

Can you guys recommend some must have apps for it? Twitter and Facebook are a must, but I need to find a great RSS app (free or paid is fine), some must have games besides Angry Birds and any other software that is worth my time. Not worried about paying for the apps, so free or paid for is fine.

Also, I need a case recommendation as well. Best brand/manufacturer of case? Not interested in belt clip designed cases.

Feed Reader 2.0: Best RSS reader (syncs with Google Reader)
Birdsong: Best twitter client
Wordament: Free, awesome massively multiplayer boggle-style word game
Alphajax: Word with Friends clone (has a free version)

But the most impressive app of all is Cocktail Flow. One of the best examples of Metro UI concepts combined with excellent design and extreme usefulness:

No idea on case - I don't use one for my focus.

If you want a really good YouTube app, get easyTube. It's free, and it even supports video downloading, something that I always wanted in iOS :/. Ilomilo is relatively expensive ($6.50), but it's a really great puzzle game with an awesome artstyle.

(how do you link to marketplace apps?)

LOL, VanMardigan.

Anyway, we really should get 16gb Omnia as mid wave phone for US to replace the Focus that are disappearing.

I also find it funny that At&t come out and said they are disappointed at Windows Phone 7 sales, yet when you go to their stores, all their sales associates either push you to iPhone or android phone.

When Microsoft shared some details about the music+video hub in Mango, they got a shitload of angry comments about the podcast feature being US only. Here's their response:

Wow! Thanks all for the kudos and feedback – my apologies for the delayed response! I see lots of questions and I’ll get to a few of the smaller ones later but I want to first address the podcast concerns that take up the lion’s share of the comments.

I should have been a little bit clearer on how podcasts work in both 7 and Mango. Today, you can use the Zune PC software to subscribe to any podcast series, anywhere in the world that has Windows Phone in market, and consume them on your phone. That option will not change with Mango but it will improve. Once you have synced a series subscription from your PC to your phone (using the Zune software), you can have the phone manage the subscription by tapping the “subscribe” button on the series details screen – at which point, whenever new episodes are available they will automatically be directly to your phone - without a PC! Again, this is for any podcast series, anywhere in the world with Windows Phone. Additionally, in Mango and starting in the U.S., there will be a full-fledged podcast marketplace that you can browse right on the phone. You will also be able to download or stream individual episodes and subscribe to a series without ever having to connect to a PC. We are working to bring this feature to other markets but the U.S. is the only market for which we can confirm support at this time. There are lots of nuanced and unique regulations in each region and we have to make sure that we’ve dotted all our i’s and crossed all our t’s before we can bring an on-phone podcast marketplace to additional locales.

To summarize, you’ll still be able to enjoy podcasts all over the world with Mango but, once you’ve gotten the series from your PC to device, you won’t need a PC to get new episodes (yay!). Additionally, if you’re in a region that has a supported marketplace, you’ll never need to use a PC at all as you can browse and subscribe to series right on the phone. Stay tuned as we continue to invest in bringing new features and services to new markets. In the meantime, keep up the great feedback! Thanks!

Are you sure you've updated the software (can you copy & paste)? It was very loud for me to until I did that. There is also a difference between speaker volume and in-call volume, and headset volume. The speaker volume is quite loud on max but can't say the same for the other channels. Try to take your phone out on a street with busy traffic on the road.

Yep, everything up to date, and speaker and ringtones are equally loud as hell.

So why are games so much choppier than on the iPhone? I'm not talking complex games, stuff like Doodle Jump runs significantly smoother on an iPhone 4. I grabbed geoDefense yesterday, and on the second Medium level things run at a crawl! It's really getting annoying. I can't imagine how PvZ will run.

Doodle Jump runs smooth as butter on my Omnia 7.

I only tried the Trial and it indeed is not as smooth as on my iPhone 3GS. But I read several times now that full versions of games are smoother for some reason.

You know it's strange I also noticed Bejewelled (full) running choppy on my new Omnia. Never had frame rate issue before on it. May need to reset it

I think I read somewhere that some trials don't run as smooth for some reason. I can't verify because I bought it before demoing it.

My iPod Touch.

ANy significant difference in the Omnia and Focus' hardware? I have open space, full version, device has been restarted numerous times, still runs like shit compared to the iPhone.

It's just coding issues on Lima Ky's part. If it's a hardware problem, how can highly detailed 3D games like Ilomilo run flawlessly?

Not that I know. Same phone, different shell as far as I know. Have you tried using different themes? For example I exclusively use the space theme and I haven't noticed any problem. I did notice that the default theme's chequered background gave an annoying effect which I think might be because it's at 30fps instead of 60? Just a guess. It never stutters or anything severe for me though. Gameplay seems fluid.

It's also Fruit Ninja, geoDefense (when things pick up), Earthworm Jim, Harbor Master, etc.

If I could, I'd put a comparison video together.

Earthworm Jim runs like crap on my phone.

It's really smooth one minute and then it turns into a powerpoint presentation the next. It's unplayable.

I'm glad these games have demos.

edit: Fruit Ninja, Ilomilo, UNO and that Poker game worked fine.

It is because XNA currently forces 30 fps while I believe those games run 60 fps on the iPhone.

I bought Fruit Ninja yesterday and it only slows down when you slice more than 4 fruit. I can not compare it to other versions, but it feels smooth overall. Same with Bejeweled.

you are trying the full game or the demos? Because Earthworm Jim never lags for me. WP7 Live demos have some issues it seems.

just the demo of Earthworm Jim

I played the demos of the other games I listed and they were fine so I bought them.

Finally pick up a Windows Phone for myself.

It's for my 360 avatar and it was free. There's an ad on the 360's dash that allows you to download a windows phone accessory. I believe you have to click the messages tile when you get to navigate the phone to initiate the download. I couldn't find a direct link on the marketplace, sorry.

I have no idea what you just said. You got a new phone? There's a free accessory offer somewhere? You have to do what?

Xbox dashboard has an interactive AD that talks to your avatar and gifts you a marketplace prop WP for your avatar for checking out the WP interactive demo.

Pretty cool ad, here

Nokia takes on BBM and Apple’s iMessage with its own free IM platform

Nokia is fighting back and has just announced its own free messaging platform: IM for Nokia, which is an instant messenger program that allows you to send messages to anybody with the same app installed, as well as one or all of the following: Ovi Mail account, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and MySpace IM.

IM for Nokia is currently available from Ovi Store, but will come pre-installed on new devices over the coming months.
Symbian app. I have no idea if they'll bring it to their WP7 devices.

Anyone know how I check out the Wp7 marketplace in Zune? All I get is movies and when I click an app link on the web I just get "not available in your country" in Zune.

Where are you from? It looks like the marketplace isn't available in your country.

Yeah, I figured. I'm in The Netherlands. Can I only view the apps on the website? Funny enough the website itself is already in dutch.

Any alternatives to watch all the content via PC?

So you're saying you get an avatar prop? I've seen the Trophy ad, which is the one I'm assuming you're talking about, but I don't see any "interactive" ads. There's 4 videos, though?

Yes, you get a WP7 cell phone for your avatar, but it's not the ad for the Trophy. It's all about Windows Phone 7 and has the blonde lady hosting it. It almost looks like one of her features that the run on the 360 covering WP7 apps.
