Still no new phones yet?
the wait is killing me and killing the platform. microsoft needs to do something and do something fast. there's at least 2 new android phones released every month in comparison. WP7 phones are simply getting stale out there. does microsoft actually think carriers will keep shelf space to these tired WP7 phones til the new phones are released in oct/nov?

Shockingly my local AT&T still has their WP7 phones on the front and center display and speaks incredibly high of them whenever I have been in there.

German GAF:
You can get the Omnia 7 (16GB) with a slight branding at the T-Mobile Onlinestore for 199€. Branding is not that bad, because you'll probably get Navigon as an free application.

I paid 205€ for my used 8GB model last week :(

So what new games are announced for WP7 at E3? I can't seem to find any.

Also for those of you who use RSS readers, which one is the best of the free ones and paid?

Thanks.

Check out this Windows Phone Blog post for info regarding new games.

As to RSS readers, I use Wonder Reader and have no real complaints. You can "try" it to get a fully functional version that "occasionally" will forget your login information. If you don't want to deal with typing your information in more often you can buy the full version cheap, $.99 or $1.99 I think.

Thanks buddy.

On another note, is there a page where I can check all the Microsoft developed apps for WP7? I want to see what they have been doing for their OS.

One such app I think is Project Emporia, I just downloaded it, as of what I have read, looks like it is still in Beta. Will have to start using it.

Man, the Windows Phone Blog is getting really active. They have stuff on Skydrive, Bing Music search, etc. Good stuff, they need to keep it up: link Although everyone in this thread probably has that link bookmarked already.

Some of the Skydrive features sound interesting, like sharing photos and such via email or messages. However, I would prefer if they still give us the option of downloading everything from Skydrive or uploading the same. Like I would want to upload a PDF or Word document to Skydrive or download from it.

Can't you create a document on the phone and upload it to Skydrive? I thought that was possible in Mango? And what do you mean by download? If you have a document on Skydrive, you can download it, work on it, and sync it back to the cloud. Or am I missing something?

As of right now, you can't do it. I think you will be able to do with Mango. I guess I can't really talk about it unless I really try it. Hopefully they get all of this sorted out with Mango.

More to come this fall starting with Windows Phone “Mango”

And as we announced last month, there is more to come this fall starting with Windows Phone “Mango.” You can:

Share photos stored on SkyDrive via email, text, or IM
SkyDrive lets you store thousands of pictures in the cloud. You can show them off to friends on your phone in the Pictures hub, and now you can share SkyDrive photos with anyone over email, text, or Messenger/Facebook.

Share your video on SkyDrive
With Mango, all the goodness you had with photos has been extended to videos. Once you’re finished shooting your video, you can caption it and share immediately on SkyDrive, and the upload will happen in the background while you move on to other things.

Browse your documents stored on SkyDrive
Windows Phone lets you view folders and files directly on your phone, so when you group things on SkyDrive, you know they’ll be available with the same folder structure on your phone.

Search your SkyDrive documents
If you store a lot of stuff on SkyDrive, being able to do a quick search is important. In the Office hub, you can easily search across your SkyDrive for the document you need without having to wade through your folders and other files.

Plus there are two videos that show off that functionality. Mango will be epic.

I asked before but when your sending photos via text, the message is converted into an MMS right, and hence you'll be charged by the carrier?

Picked up my HTC Surround earlier, holy shit is it a sexy ass phone. I love how fast WP7 is, silky smoothy while navigating through the menus. Very easy to set up, the on-screen keyboard is excellent.

Only issue I'm having thus far is some of the live tiles (Weather Bug, Beezz are not updating or showing me anything but their default icon.

I would imagine so. I never tried it because for some reason I can't send an MMS from my unlocked Focus.

So you can pull pictures from your skydrive into a text, but I wish you could back up your texts to skydrive. Hopefully that's something still to come in Mango :-(

The simple response to this is... yes. It is considered as data. So you will be charged MMS fee's, unless your carrier offers MMS bundle offers. You could always send it free as an email though.

They're shutting down MyPhone for Windows Mobile. Hopefully to free up the resources for Windows Phone 7.

How much battery life do you guys get out of the Omnia 7? I always seem to hit the 8 hour mark of usage that's it.

A quick Google search shows that the Samsung Omnia Network Profile app is draining battery, is that true? Thanks

While the nav soft is pre-installed, it´ll only work with a D1 sim card inside.

Well, I've been checking out these WP7 threads for some time. I was always attracted to the UI and its base functionality, and I'm already attached to some of the Microsoft ecosystem (especially Xbox Live). So in looking for a phone to replace my ancient Samsung Omnia (which the screen finally broke on me two days ago), I decided to go with WP7 instead of iPhone 4 (not a big Apple fan, nor do I want to be attached to their exosystem) or an Android phone (I already have a rooted Nook Color, so I have my Android fill already). I wrangled Verizon to give me my $50 upgrade two months early, and ordered the Trophy essentially for $100. I wish I could've used that deal earlier in this page, but it wouldn't allow me to upgrade.

Hopefully by Monday (Tuesday the latest) I can finally contribute to this thread.

Can you use Microsoft Points to buy stuff on a Windows Phone 7?

Or do you have to have a credit card hooked up to the service to buy stuff?
No. Big fail.

Credit card for now.

Don't know what will happen on Mango.

They haven't announced anything. You would think they would but nothing yet :(

I have so many points sitting in my account waiting for some purchases but doesn't look like I will be spending them on a WP7 anytime soon.

MAKE IT HAPPEN MICROSOFT.

Doesn't make sense to NOT have Microsoft points as a currency.
I read here that we'll be able to use MS points in the Mango update this Fall. (I'm not sure how reliable that site is though).

I purchased the HTC Trophy yesterday. I'm loving it so far. Kinda bummed I can't put a custom ringtone on it right now, but there are a lot of cool tones on it already. I just wish the Mango update wasn't so far off- lots of cool features I'm looking forward to.

me needs a new mango phone withe a second gen snapdragon. these new games like geo defense, pacman, and hydro thunder have mad slowdown when there's multiple things happening on screen at one time, to the point where it's unplayable.

No slowdown on my Omnia 7 on all games you have mentioned. What model of phone do you have?

i have an hd7. on easy levels, there's no slowdown but when there's tons of ghost following you in pacman dx or the medium/hard levels in geo defense, there's slowdown.

Isn't it just an optimisation problem? I don't know a lot but these games run great on the iPhone 3GS and it's not as good as the HD7/Omnia 7.

That's what I'm thinking, too. The 2nd gen iPod Touch has crappy hardware and it runs most games just fine.

I have an HD7 too, but for me there is very little slowdown in geoDefense (on later levels), if any (I finished the game). Do not happen on Pac-man, although Doodle Jump stops a little from time to time. Very little slowdown on Hydro Thunder, barely noticed it.

Maybe you have to reset your phone?

Downloading Orb now.

Is there a fast way to get back to the Zune player when you're listening to music but not in the app? I know pressing the volume button will bring up the little music controls at the top of the screen, but I wish it had a button that would return you back to Zune...or am I missing something incredibly obvious?

Hold home and say "Open Zune"? Don't know if that's a voice command or not.

I don't think there's a quicker way than hitting the Windows button and tap on the music+video tile. Just have it as one of your first 8 tiles and that should be fast enough. In Mango, if you open the volume controls, you'll be able to tap on the song name and it brings you right back to the player

Finally got my phone, and am loving it so far. I just have to figure out how to transfer my phone numbers from my old Windows Mobile phone. Any help here guys?

Supposedly, sometime next month, Microsoft will start migrating users from the Windows Mobile MyPhone application to Windows Sky Drive.

That will be the new app to sync with Windows Phone 7, so I guess if you're super lazy and already have MyPhone setup with your old phone, you can just wait until then.

Otherwise, program it manually and set up your phone through your live account.
