Won't be anything special, just the usual mango tour.

Hoping for a release date or specs or something. Something that might be indicative of what we'll see here in the US.

Edit: Looks like 32 gigs of storage, 512 meg RAM, and a 13 megapixel camera. No word on speed of the CPU, just says 8655. My guess would be 1GHz though

32GB, 12MP (can't be more), 10.6 mm thick and probably the MSM8655.

It's 13.2, unless google translate is screwing up. This is from the official msft site

If the SoC doesn't support more than 12MP, how are they doing it?

Would be nice to get an up close pic of the lens, that should tell us everything. It looks like there is a megapixel count on it.

Isn't the lack of a FFC a bit of a deal breaker in Japan?

Says 13.2 MP. Weird.

Maybe the camera module is doing the processing instead of the soc.

They should be providing some information on the dev plans for RTM tomorrow, I'd hold off on doing the Beta.

Mango just went RTM, I don't think there are any finished builds for retail devices and I doubt they'll distribute it without he final RTM dev tools. Whatever they're going to say tomorrow, it won't be an announcement for the availability of the RTM for devs. I'll gladly eat a mango if it happens.

possible, didn't think about this solution. That would mean the 16MP cam in the Bresson could be real.

Just tried to pick up a Focus at a Rogers store, but an employee looked into it and said the Focus was sold out and discontinued at their location. Should I go hunting around for one, or when are some new phones supposed to come to Rogers that would be worth waiting for?

For Mac users:

I'm trying to import my songs from my WP7 to my Mac. I'm using the windows phone 7 connector, and I select a bunch of songs and choose import. I can't seem to find them on my library, tho.

Anyone know what's up?

Did you update to Lion? Are you using the new iTunes?

These don't look that bad at all. Looks like we're getting some much needed new theme colors as well. I've been wanting a Grey them for a while.

I don't think there will be an update from beta to RTM. Those with an AppHub account will be able to download the Mango RTM, just like they were able to download the beta 2. After rolling back to NoDo, they can install the RTM. That's what the instructions say, when you get the beta from connect, hence the warning to backup your backup of your NoDo backup.
There won't be an update for devs straight to RTM, but I heard Microsoft will release a final update to a developer version of RTM to do some final checks for app compatibility before devs have to roll back to NoDo to update to retail Mango.

RTM is retail mango from a MS perspective.

There may be manufacturer firmware updates, but firmware and OS updates can be separate.

People that used the unbranded hack to update to nodo early got prompted for a manufacturer firmware update if their device needed it, whereas people who waited for the official nodo update that was approved by their carrier got the firmware update rolled into it.

I suspect devs will have to roll back to their nodo backup and then apply the mango RTM update when it is made available to them.

Is it possible to stop Zune from resizing my photos when it syncs them to my phone? Even with the option set to 'Original' in the settings, it keeps spitting out 960x540 images with terrible compression.

more support from developers, carriers, consumers, or all of the above?

carriers and consumers.

carriers need to get out of Android Fever mode and consumers neeeeeeeeeeeed to know more about Windows Phone 7.

Devs so far seem fine, anything I want from any other OS I can find in WP7.

I really agree. I haven't seen a single advertisement for Windows Phone. Microsoft seems to be using their entire marketing budget to promote Windows 7.

I dont remember Android having advertisements from carriers until it started making them money (besides the original mytouch commercials which was basically tmobiles only phone, i dont even remember knowing it was android). MS needs to bankroll it (with nokias help now) until it starts making carriers money.

Hmm, last weekend I went phone shopping with two friends, secretly hoping to convert them to WP7. Sadly not a single shop stocked any WP7 phones. No demo units, nothing. Really disappointing how nobody seems to care about WP7.

What are the odds of Mango changing this?

It looks like developers won't get the RTM, but a slightly older build. 7712 is the dev build, 7720 the RTM. They did the same last year, when the developer phones Taylor and Panther got 7003 instead of 7004. Sounds good to me. I'm still curious about the Zune client and worried that we haven't heard anything about a significant update.

A new marketing push is planed for the Mango release. Nokia will have their own campaign. Looks like the current phones are EoL and with more and more devices and leaks and rumors about new devices every day, we shouldn't be too far off.

Today we learned that Samsung is planing another Mango device, from the SGH-6x7 series, which is known for having a portrait keyboard.

Another thing, why not morph Zune into the next Windows Media Player? I mean, one is better than the other and they're both free. So why does Windows Media Player still exist?

The next WMP should just be ZUNE Software. There's no reason for it not to be.

Am I the only one that wishes the Toshiba phone had more than 512 ram? I'm not saying it totally needs it I guess, but IDK... I guess in my mind I have this tandum thing of if you are gonna up to dual core time to up the RAM as well..

It seems a bit better over here in Australia. I usually see the HTC Trophy demo units set up at Telstra, and Optus has the Optimus 7 and Omnia 7 on display. It also helps that they're incredibly cheap now compared to most of the other phones.

Most of my friends know of it though, surprisingly. I showed someone and they said 'Hey, is that a Windows Phone? Have you installed Mango yet?'. They really liked how smooth the UI was, though (even those with iPhones), which is something Microsoft should be promoting.

i like those hard buttons

Would swap out my Omnia for that in a flash - absolutely hate the touch sensitive buttons, they interfere with, well, everything. Also, really like the grey accent in the pics a few posts above - quite nice.

It's not dual core :P

in anticipation of the omnia 7 i just installed the zune software. omg, so good and slick.
Did the same! Then I noticed I can't buy music in my country and never opened it again until the Omnia 7 arrived. :/

The capacitive buttons would be better if they actually required you to tap it. Sliding across he button shouldn't be able to activate them. They would be a pretty decent substitute for physical buttons otherwise.

Just typed that entire thing on my Omnia 7. The virtual keyboard in landscape is godly. :lol

Since I´m also most likely buying an Omnia 7 soon: Are there working IRC-apps for WP7? If so, can anybody share some of his experience with it?

IRC brings up nothing in the marketplace search, so I'm assuming that there isn't :/

Look, I don't want to be that guy again (okay, I do) and I don't know if this changed between CE6 and CE6 R3, but when CE6 came out, it could only address 512MB of physical memory at max.

There is still a limit of 512MB of physical RAM
http://blogs.msdn.com/ce_base/archive/2006/11/01/The-CE6-OS-differences-in-a-nutshell.aspx

It's possible that they changed that in those three years between the RTM and R3, but I can't find any confirmation and the R3 release note don't mention it either.

Of course, this is pure speculation on my part.

I feel like the worst fanboy ever :lol

Hard to do since the current APIs don't allow for sockets. I'm sure there will be stuff available as soon as Mango hits

Where did you hear this?

I don't see it on twitter or any of the news outlets or the windows phone blog or dev blog..

Just jumping to conclusions. It's my favorite game. :lol

And yes, it was all over twitter. The unofficial Windows Phone dev podcast tweeted this:

@wpdevpodcast: We've got 7,712 reasons for you to look forward to tomorrow! :) #wp7dev

Then you have the tweet from that Microsoft guy who wanted to announce something within 24 hours and Brandon Watson who initially said that it would be awesome if devs could get early hands on. And last, but not least:
@fleon / @J45PER / @Arvydas - We're working to get devs an updated build soon. Stay tuned to the dev blog.

But it's obviously the wpdev podcast tweet that kicked it off.
