I'll check when I get home. Also, I want you to know that I went to the AT&T store today and will do so again tomorrow based exclusively on your post that the Focus S may stealth-drop tomorrow. I hope you find some perverse joy in that.

The lady at the store says she was aware of the Galaxy SII dropping tomorrow, but not any other device.
my apologies, just texted a friend who's a regional manager n she clarified and said she got her samsungs mixed up. no focus s launch tomorrow kids. sorry.

Lol engadget, they think the iphone is the standard and anything under is faded and anything over is oversaturated.

The iPhone screen is tweaked heavily for proper colors.

What's funny about that?

The problem with this and what I cited is that they have yet to do a direct comparison between CBD and SAMOLED+ which is the question at hand.

Further, do we really don't know (to my knowledge) whether the upcoming Nokia's use the same CBD generation - or something newer?

Sorry, no.

It's simply the fact that current IPS inherently has more accurate color reproduction versus OLED. Apple isn't doing anything magical to improve the screen itself (it's possible they set up a color LUT though? Or maybe it's just default - no idea).

Color wise, my only serious gripe about iPhone (barring black-level) is that its whites are a tad cool (blue). It cleans up a bit if you jack brightness - though not perfectly - but that isn't a really realistic solution due to battery penalties. So I guess my issue is more about contrast and grey scale.

Color calibrations on the assembly line to the screens so that color reproduction is accurate.

(you know.... with science)
They calibrate every screen? I highly doubt that. Panels have differences, they are never 100% the same. At least not the better ones where the margin for variations is pretty narrow.

You're saying they actively pay for extra calibration? I'd like to see evidence for that lol

More like they OEM panels withing certain tolerances that fall well within the norm for IPS screens. Color accuracy is one of IPS's core strengths by nature. It's like arguing Apple either improved or paid for improvement in off-access viewing of its screens. Sorry no, that's simply in the nature of IPS.

But the functionality still remains.

Unless you're the main character of Memento ... I'm pretty sure you can mange using it without the visual cue :P

Hey guys, 2 things:

1) Would a t-mobile branded german omnia 7 running on a different carrier be able to force mango? my sister has one, and i am not sure if that would work

2) is there a simple multi-track recording tool? i only found single track voice recorders, but sometimes when i have a spontaneous idea for a song or something and am not near a pc, i need at least 2 tracks.

Why does WP suck for ringtones? Not only did we have to wait for Mango to get them, for calls only, but the way they are managed is the biggest clusterfuck I've ever seen. I've been trying to get a ringtone on my phone for the past hour, what the fuck?

Why are there so many restrictions? Why can't we just get any song from our library and set it as a ringtone.

It pains me to think that my old featurephone from six years ago handled ringtones better.

What problems are you having exactly? All you need is to have it DRM free, under 40 seconds and less than 1MB in size

Can't find my file in Zune, even though I'm listening to it in Zune, and its folder is part of the Collections sources. I'm also having trouble shrinking my file under 1 MB (it's 39seconds and 1.21MB, weird seeing as it is originally a MIDI file).

I'm tired so that's probably why it's taken me *this* long, but Microsoft has no fucking excuse as to why a year in, we still can't select any song from our phone and set it as ringtone for calls, messages, mails, and alarms.

edit: the whole thing really sticks out from the rest of the experience. MS has made done an amazing job making a complex yet simple-to-use OS, but the ringtone thing is just awful. I've been pissed about it since day 1, and Mango hasn't done that much in that regard. A shame because I love my Omnia to death otherwise.

edit: FWIW, I got it done. However I think the average person will not want to reencode their songs online before reputting them in Zune, and then finally being able to select them on the phone.

You never tried making one on iOS then ;)

Thought it was 30seconds?

It took me ~2 minutes to rip the Californication intro from YouTube, convert it to mp3, cut it the way I wanted and then sync it to my phone.

Were this ad posted or is it a fake?
I think you posted a link at the other page, just figured I would post the actual photo in here as well.

Anyone with an LG Optimus 7, you can now press the hardware windows button to bring up the lock screen on Mango. This is handy as the power button on this phone is very small and hard to press sometimes.

Whoa. This is great. I hate the tiny power button on the Optimus 7.

I wonder if someone can help me out on the following:

- Any way to adjust the ring volume independently. To make a ring louder you need to make everything else louder. My Nokia 6190 15 years ago has independent ring volume control.
- Contact includes everything, even when it should not (i.e. it should exclude contact with no telephone attached when making phone call). I want the Contact from phone app show only people with phone number.
- email client does not follow my dark theme, any solution?
- can it display the whole status bar, instead of only showing the time? I want to know the signal strength all the time, because area I live in sometimes has dead spot.
- how to browse app available in Chinese?

Thanks.

Yes, I know how to do it on Samsung devices only however.

Not to my knowledge but it is a complaint I've had. I've had to remove these contacts after saving their email addresses separately on a document, because as you know removing them from your phonebook also removes them from your Live/Gmail address book strangely. The fuck MS?

This is intentional. You can't change it, and personally I think white background looks far better to read email on than black.

Touch the top middle of the screen and you'll see the status bar animation drop down temporarily. There is no way to keep there permanently .

Do not know

Do you mean you can make the ringer louder but not effect all the other chimes for stuff like texts, etc?

Mind describing how or pointing me to some instructions?

In the people hub whenever it refreshes what's new, is there a way to keep the position instead of always going to the top? I.e. I read what's new, check the hub a few hours later and can scroll up to the top?

I saw an app recommendation app through AppFlow before that had all information in Chinese, I'd assume they would have a lot of Chinese-specific apps too. Forgot the name though.

Don't think so. That's the reason I still keep a dedicated twitter client.

Has there been any word about whether there will be any good new WP7 phones on Verizon coming in the couple months or so? I really am wanting to get something with an OLED screen if possible.

I have an HTC Trophy through Verizon Wireless, and I received an update alert on the 27th. Whenever I got home, I started the update process through the Zune software, and everything seemed to go well. Problem is, I still have 7.0, not 7.5. Has anyone else here noticed an update coming through that isn't an update to 7.5?

I don't like it. Black on white is harder to read, and it uses a lot more power. Same with the Games hub.

Originally when I experimented with this it also increased the sound notifications as well as the ringer and in-call volume. However, since I've installed Mango, I haven't had this complaint. Although I'm not sure if its just my ears getting used to the loud notifications or whether or not they are now tolerable.

Here is how to do it

I would recommend you note down the original settings before you change them, in case you want to revert back.

Anyone having weird things going on in the battery saver menu? I just charged my HTC Surround to 100%, took it off charge and in less than a minute it dropped to 95%.

Ok even more messed up, just charged it to 100% again, rebooted my phone.....92%.

How are you getting exact percentages?

Went searching, found it myself. Was a little excited it was an added option to display on the drop down. :( one small thing I miss from iOS land.
