I have a friend who's still on an Android G1 for T-Mobile although his phone isn't properly supported as Google left it like an unloved child. It's been about an year since I unrooted the phone and installed custom ROMs on it. Now, it's acting up again, and I have to find a new ROM.VanMardigan said:Wow, Mango is getting seriously glowing reviews. Slate: You Should Get a Windows Phone. Really.
Edit: But like I pointed out above, it doesn't matter how much people seem to like it, nobody wants to buy one. The author says he's not getting one, even though he thinks you should. lol.

Just read the reviews for the phone on T-Mobile's website.Copernicus said:The HD7, and they just annouced the Phasar...Photon...something with mango.
You can find the HD7 for like $150 on craigslist though.
I would say that today was a busy twitter day, I was keeping you guys up to date on impressions and there was some tablet released or something. I used turn-by-turn navigation for 30 minutes and slacker for the same amount of time, simultaneously. I kept up multiple text message conversations, and linked them to Facebook chat for 45 minutes. I had some phone calls in there too. I made it until 7:30 PM. Twelve and a half hours, Im not surprised and Im not disappointed. Thats a lot of work for it to handle, and it didnt go very long without me picking it up today. On a normal day Im sure I can make it to 10 PM, and Im sure you can too. Helpful hints Facebook chat wastes your battery very quickly, turn the screen brightness to low, turn on battery saver, increase the time between checking for updates on twitter and e-mail, and (most importantly) set your phone down for an extended period of time.
Not at all, but rendering large sites is slow (see IGN.com), Maps only runs at 30fps, and HD video isn't exactly smooth. The thing is, others have always claimed that this is due to Windows Phones not having dual core CPUs.Jadedx said:Mango is slow for you? It is fast for me.

This is a good comparison (although since then Rdio has released a WP7 app)

1 - Is there a huge difference between 4g and 4g lte?
2 - What carriers provide 4g lte?
3 - Are there any 4g lte compatible windows mobile phones?
So for the most part, the next big hitter coming out is the htc Titan, which is available only for t-mobile right? And What would yall say are the biggest advantages that WM phones have over ios and androids? Sorry for the bombardment, but i wanna take a good look at WM before writing it off, and it's hard finding the info I want out there, thx guys!
its been up for awhile in test. The first Att lte phone comes out soon.claviertekky said:I thought AT&T's LTE network is active.
neutralgamer02 said:1. Yes. 4G which is HSPA+ has a maximum download speed of 42Mbits/sec, while 4G LTE has a minimum of 100Mbits/sec with speeds upward to 300Mbits/sec.
2. At this point only ATT and Verizon have 4G LTE available in certain markets. Only 4 of Verizon's phones support LTE. Not sure about ATT since they just launched theirs recently.
3. No, there are not any WP 4G LTE phones. The upcoming phones like the HTC Titan and Samsung Focus S are 4G only.
Also, the HTC Titan is coming to ATT not T-Mobile. T-Mobile is getting the Radar 4G. As to your other question about WP advantages over IOS and Android, it would be hard for me to answer since the only smartphone I have owned is a Windows Phone.

720P looks leagues better than 480P on an iPhone 4.Meus Renaissance said:I cant believe people are discussing high definition video for their mobile phones.
FindMyFarms said:So if I'm reading this right, Verizon's 4g network is their 4g lte network, and their 4g lte is limited(as of now) with regards to market coverage correct? So if you're not in a 4g lte area, then you're under 3g use correct? From what I've seen, also verizon is the only carrier that provides phones that support 4g lte? So while att has the network in 5 cities now, none of their smartphones support it?
So what I'm gathering is that 4g lte is awsome, but very limited thus the lack of phones that support it.
What phones are they?

I don't think I'd care either way on a 3.5" screen.giga said:720P looks leagues better than 480P on an iPhone 4.
Oh, I was just talking video resolutions in general.Meus Renaissance said:I think its kinda irrelevant considering that the vast majority of data networks struggle (when you get 3G in your area) to playback standard video smoothly much less 720p content.
P.S. I wasn't talking about video playback in general but using the Internet outside and wanting to watch HiDef
It matters when there are 600k+ pixels on that 3.5" screen. Non-Retina apps looked horrid to me as well.VanMardigan said:I don't think I'd care either way on a 3.5" screen.

I heard the mango update allows LG phones to power on/off using the windows start button. is that true?VanMardigan said:I bought one for my wife:
Pros:
-It runs Windows Phone 7 (and I forced Mango on my wife's phone without issues) with the smooth performance you'd expect
-LG has a decent Play-To app for DLNA devices
-Good call quality
-3.5" screen makes everything seem sharper than larger screen WP7 devices and is actually very good considering its not SAMOLED or SLCD.
Cons:
-Bulky/heavy compared to the Focus
-Camera isn't as good as Focus
-Power button and volume keys were more difficult to press than they should be
-I didn't really like the keyboard too much.

Typically, this error occurs when you try to play a song or video that has been moved, renamed, or deleted from your computer. However, it can also occur when you try to play a song that is stored on a computer or storage device that's not currently available.

Overall, it's fantastic. If you like the WP7 UI and aesthetic, other than for some specific missing apps (YMMV), there really isn't a reason to pass on it versus the competition anymore. It holds up quite well, and imo gives a better overall experience due to some of the unique features like integrated msn/facebook/etc. Plus the Bing features like local scout, audio tagging, and visual recognition are really coming into their own. Basically it now feels feature complete (at least relative to current mobile standards), and has some unique aspects and aesthetics that help it stand out.Meus Renaissance said:What are your thoughts on Mango (assuming you have it on your phone)

The Super AMOLED Plus is a samsung-made screen.. itis easier to see in sunlight than regular AMOLED screens and it does not have the pen-tile matrix shortcoming of the previous Super AMOLED screens.
I would be inclined to think that the nokia screen won't be as good.. but until we get to see one, it is hard to say.

Assuming the above comparisons are accurate, while it's possible SAMAOLED+ could be tops ... I'd be surprised if it's markedly better. For current displays it looks like CBD is tops, so if anything Samsung is playing catch up. I'd guess that overall they'll be peers if anything.
I just wish Nokia would produce larger displays. After using a Focus for that last year, I cannot see myself going with anything smaller than 4". If anything, I'd consider going even bigger.
