Who cares about "wasted space"? Not everything needs to be filled and overloaded with information. Metro clearly shows that. Reminds me of the complains about the arrow on the home screen and how it should be placed over the tiles, so they could fill up the screen. Jesus.
Well the screenshots should be closer to the bottom, not the top, to fit in properly with the rest of the Metro UI.

also *meh* webOS cards or bust.

There's a ton of wasted space on that task switcher, come on dude. The cards style of task switching sucks. I'm pretty peeved they switched (punlol) to that shit for ICS.
I still don't see how it's a big deal. It's not like you can have more than 5 apps open at the same time.

They're not at the top, they're in the middle.

Personally i think the multitasking tiles are fine.. they do the job and look pretty enough.

I'm with the poster above though, i do think we need to be able to close apps properly. Whether its an x in the top corner of the app or a long press on the tile in the task-switcher.

...oh

Then why is it a scrollable list? Just show all five on screen X syle. Less "distance" to get to what you need.

I agree.

It would be much easier for the user to have all options presented at once instead of having to blindly scroll.

You can close an app, but it's not very practical.

Select an app and hit the back button (until you're on the home screen). The app is closed. I'd really rather prefer an x to close them.

I could see doing it so that something useless doesn't kick something you care about off of the list. It's really annoying when I see native applications and duplicates and stuff in there and the apps you actually need to fast resume to get kicked off.

Their comparison is shit but it doesn't really matter to people waiting for Nokia world anyway because there's no indication that Nokia's Windows Phone camera will be anything like as good as the N8, I don't think the N9 camera has any of the pieces that made that such a great option bar the lens, they made the same sacrifices every other phone manufacturer has made to keep the phone slim.

Heavy said:
Damn that sucks. So the N9 will be a gimped N8?
it has worst camera than the n8 and the Nokia wp7 will have the same. Next year though you should expect a n8 class camera on their wp7 phones

Wait for the rest of the second gen devices (like the Titan) including the Focus S and whatever Nokia brings.

It should be very soon.
Yeah, I've been holding out for Nokia but when? I know they said before the end of the year.

Quick question, I use my Skydrive associated with my Hotmail account, and I use my Yahoo account for XBox Live and Zune Pass. If I use my Yahoo account as the account for the phone, can I add access to my Hotmail Skydrive later?

I'm not sure I totally understand what you're looking to do, but do you not have your inboxes linked? I don't think you're limited to 1 sign in.

Edit:

I'm not much of a photograph taker, but does anyone have some favorite settings they like to use for their Samsung Focus they'd like to share?

Now this one seems to be better.

Nokia produces distinctive, well built hardware with solid reception, camera, and battery life and all phones up to this point are pretty much android clones.

Titan = Sensation XL
Focus S = Galaxy II S

Kinda related:

Anyone here use Potplayer? Then you will love this skin:

Yeah, I used Nokia phones ever since I was a little brat but a man's patience is limited.

All the built in apps use the your default live id. You can add additional hotmail accounts, but I'm pretty sure you can't add additional SkyDrive accounts. You should probably just start using the SkyDrive associated with your yahoo

Ok, thanks, that is what I was worried about. Don't have a phone yet, just wondering if I should move everything to a common account.

Turn HDR on, photo quality high, flash off, and anti-shaking on. Use macro mode when doing close IPA. That's pretty much all I do.

You should anyways.... Having everything tied to a single live email address makes things much easier.

Cool, thanks. I assume by HDR, WDR is the same thing?

I wonder what we will hear about on the software front at Nokia World. I'm almost more excited about that than the hardware :P

I can't imagine them having all of these Microsoft speakers up there just to talk Mango. I'm hoping for some hints or announcements about the next minor update (especially since Nokia has a heavy hand in Tango).

When did they start talking NoDo last year, December with official announcement around CES time?

Isn't SkyDrive heavily built into Win8? Up until this point I always assumed Microsoft was worried more about the SEC/DOJ than anything for stuff like SkyDrive and similar Live services.

My eyes are on Nokia now. Android is still as fugly as ever with all these new devices (seriously, what's the point of having all these devices that are basically the same?).

Nokia, you need to knock it out of the park. WP7 is already the sexiest OS out after the Mango update, all it needs now is some sexy hardware to match.

Droids look really good once rooted. It also depends on the company. HTC sense UI is good looking but it's just too "bubbly" for me. The moto skin looks good too.

I guess I can see it. But I what I really want to see a non-apple phone that's naturally sexy.

WP7 hardware? You don't have to root it or anything to make it look elegant and sexy. Now it just needs hardware to match. Sleek, non-techy hardware...

Here's Nokia's phone.

Better picture from an older prototype with onscreen buttons.

You know what would seriously disappoint me? If it doesn't come in multiple colors, like the N9.

I'm sorry. I know that you Canadians are always so overly optimistic. It's nice that at least someone hasn't given up.
I've just had good exprinces with nokia. Not on an OS level. But the hardware has been rock solid.

See? Now how hard was that???

Sleek, minimalist, cohesive, sophisticated. Even in prototype phase it looks better than pretty much every android phone.

I'm a little concerned by how far the display seems to protrude from the frame, but that might be because of the lighting, and the plastic film protecting the screen.

I was just looking at the new Droid Razr...damn that thing's ugly. I really loved the original Razr too.

Looks like a doorstop.

Nokia better drop those grey boxes for the three face buttons. Horrible.

"Better picture from an older prototype with onscreen buttons. "

I knew I should've mentioned that the retail version has capacitive buttons, hence the lower screen size compared to the N9 (3.7" vs 3.9").

Speaking of camera settings and quality, took this near Haleakala in Hawaii for an anniversary trip with my Focus. Spontaneous shot, but loved how it turned out.

Yea the camera is the best/worst part about the phone. It goes 1080p but it's just "in the way". It's the reason why I don't like most HTC phones. I like a phone with a pancacke bottom.

Engadget's camera phone face-off is hilariously suspect. Read the comments... they're getting totally buried and called out for their obvious bias:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/camera-showdown-iphone-4s-vs-iphone-4-galaxy-s-ii-nokia-n8-a/
Filter the comments to "New". I can't stand these Apple cocksuckers.

I wondered if that was going to happen. (The backlash that is) That article was prettttttttty slanted. And folks were drilling them in the comments from the absolute start. Somehow they have the worst N8 shots I have seen anywhere on the entirety of the internet. I really like engadget, but cmon now...
