Well I'm on the phone with att about the error i'm getting 80180048, dude says he's on the phone with htc and they are saying i'm getting the error because my phone already has mango on it. And the notification i get on my phone telling me there is an update available is for mango. yet when i hook up the phone and zune tells me there is an update it makes no mention of mango

Not sure if anyone asked this question yet: but is there any chance of Microsoft releasing a iPod Touch type of device? I'd love to try out the device and platform, but I wouldn't switch a mobile phone so easily.
Best bet would be to simply buy a used Focus or whatever. You can get one for <$150.

Also deciding between the Titan and Focus S. I think it's ultimately going to come down to the battery life. Figure the Focus S would have an advantage there, but it might have a smaller battery.

I can't speak for the Focus S because I've mainly been following the Titan (give me a release date AT&T!), but most of the Titans reviews were saying that it lasted them about a day and had to recharge it at lunch time the second day with a decent amount of use. They said they were quite happy with it.

The Verge/This Is My Next published a "Verizon + Nokia" editorial out of nowhere. Before you get your hopes up, it's not based on any facts.

The beginning:
First, a disclaimer: no one has come to us and said “Verizon will announce a Windows Phone from Nokia this year.” In fact, we don’t have any intel on new Windows Phones for Verizon at all right now, regardless of manufacturer — but what we do have is a bit of circumstantial evidence that’s pointing in that direction.

We’ve learned from people familiar with the matter that the “Sea Ray” codename has an interesting history inside Nokia. The phone you see today — essentially a variation of the N9 industrial design running Windows Phone 7.5 — is very different from the original Sea Ray, a MeeGo-based device that had been tapped for Verizon. That alone is a pretty fascinating revelation: historically, Nokia doesn’t have a reputation for supporting CDMA in its smartphone segment — much less a new, untested platform like MeeGo. Ultimately, though, Nokia must have known that it had no choice but to ramp up its CDMA game — China is still an enormous CDMA market, and the shift to LTE-only handsets for carriers like Verizon is still many years away. Nokia already had a budding relationship with Verizon in the feature phone segment, having contracted out a few devices (like the 7705 Twist) to an outside OEM; it only stands to reason that’s a relationship the company was interested in growing, considering Verizon’s buying power and consumer reach. Unfortunately, we don’t know what that “original” Sea Ray looks like or what market segment it was intended to attack, and it’s quite likely we never will.

I wonder if Europeans will get a variant of the Focus S? So far it doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah I thought that a few months ago in a post and it seems to be a case so far anyway, seems we'll have to make do with the Omnia W. One can still hope for the Focus S though, would be nice to see it make it over here.

I am pretty sure Focus S is for N. America and Omnia W is for Europe I mean why on earth would they name them that way.

The US is getting a rebranded AT&T version of the Omnia W, called the Focus Flash. It would be disappointing if the European market wouldn't get a higher end phone from Samsung.

I can't figure out how to make a note or highlight on the Kindle app

Edit: It doesn't have annotation or highlight support? What is the fucking point? Its like they dont even care.

Complex Shadow said:
wait what? does that mean us is getting W and the flash?
Whoa, I just saw how badly that post is worded. What I meant was that the US is getting a rebranded Omnia W for AT&T, called the Focus Flash. No SAMOLED+ display for Europe.

Sorry, I'm still feeling like shit and I should probably rest a bit. Wasted an hour on something that didn't work like I hoped.

Don't sweat it man. I have the same problem when I write a program in C++ for class.

DAMMIT! Now I have another phone tugging at me. :(

So last night my Focus apparently opened onenote on its own somehow and started randomly typing shit. I woke up to that "clicking" noise it makes when you type, it was going crazy. Was like WTF and unplugged it and took out the battery and went back to sleep.

Pretty sure it was a ghost.

WP7 is awesome, but I think i'm going to go back to Android until WP8 comes. All my friends are playing games like Words with Friends and it's just a reminder mannn.

Wow, haha. That is insane.

Wow, didn't know about this one. One of the hottest phones I've ever seen.

Really?? It looks like an industrial phone from the mid 00's. Gross looking buttons and excessive bezel and indented lines, not too please to the eye IMO.

lol. there's barely any bezel. wp7 creates a fantastic illusion, no?

I'm quite sure the Fujitsu phone is Japan-only. Pity, it comes in a range of colors and it's got that ridiculous 13-megapixel camera. Bonus: Youtube the ads for this phone, they're as Japanese as they come.

My HD7 does stuff like this every time I leave my phone unlocked and charge it with a Chinese 3rd party charger

Cause of the problem there. It happens to Android phones too.
They're spying on us and texting back home. Damn commies!.

Anyway, a new picture of the Sabre leaked and there's no front facing camera.

Maybe Nokia just doesn't like them. Also, physical buttons.

I love the physical buttons on my optimus 7, but that Sabre doesn't look like something I want to use. Looks really cheap. At least the performance won't be compromised.

love the look of the galaxy s2 windows phone (forget 'our' name for it, stupid confusing names). my girlfriend has the android version and it's lovely, thin and light with an amazing screen, as one would expect from samsung. not too keen on how 'cheap' it feels being made out of plastic, though i think the omnia 7 has spoilt me with its metal. also, i've had a fair few wifi problems so not particularly keen on having another samsung phone.
the nokia sabre looks awful, though i'm waiting for a promo. picture before commenting further.

The buttons on the Sabre look incredibly flimsy.

It's hard to believe how fast Weave is - it feels like a native app, even when it's doing all those fancy 3D transitions. I honestly can't find any third-party app that comes close to it.

Still waiting for Game News Now to be updated.

bwhaha I have a Chinese 3rd party too. Well that explains it then.

I'm going with spying too.

So I downloaded the trial for Jet Car Stunts, but I can't complete the tutorial level where you have to use the afterburners to fly the car through the hoops!! I blame my phone.

I'm thinking of picking up a BT headset to use with my HD7(don't laugh, got it for a Penny new) but I want something that will work when i'm playing music/podcasts as well. Currently I have an old Jabra 350 and while I can take calls and such, I can't listen to music with it. Any recommendations?

An interesting timeline from MS Nerd, who is typically pretty good with the Microsoft Leaks

Looks like we can expect Tango 1 around January (which sounds about right based on rumors, and hopefully means Tango will be talked about at Nokia World) and Tango 2 around March (in line with NoDo release last year).

WP8 in Aug 2012 and Apollo in 2013? i thought WP8 and Apollo were one in the same?

Posted this in the window phone game OT, but wanted to post it here as well.

I am starting to be a little disappointed with the xbox live offerings on windows phones. How could they not release a game for two weeks, then release a fairly subpar game afterwards? They really need to improve the quality of games and increase the weekly releases to 2-3 games. At the rate we are going we only get a maximum of 52 games a year and there is no way we will catch up the iphone's massive game market at that pace.

Also, the offerings in independent marketplace is simply poor outside of a few gems.

Anyway, it is just starting to be harder to ignore the attractiveness of Apple's appstore games. With scribblenauts remix, FFT, Infinity blade, and other great games it will make it hard for me to stay with windows phone when my contract is up. I really hope microsoft gets it into gear next year because I really like the OS apart from the marketplace game selection. Really don't want an iphone, but I need my phone to be a strong game machine since I don't have a handheld anymore. Really a shame since windows phone is my first smartphone.

no one believes it will catch up with iOS. however, you need to look at exclusive games on WP that aren't on iOS and Android. Pacman DX, Rocket Riot, and IloMilo are great examples of A+ games only available on WP. what microsoft needs to do is release its big franchises on WP, a halo rts game perhaps, a gears of war related side game; games like that are what will separate it from iOS.

my dad got a Samsung Focus (old version) but it was free.

man, windows phone interface is VERY nice :) big fan here now. not sure if i like it more then android but it's up there. if i was more into twitter/facebook then for sure.

dat super amoled.

There are so many fantastic indie games out there in the Marketplace - you just can't find them because they're not Xbox Live-certified. It's a shame.

Edit: Just found Papijump buried at the end of the 'new' section. Very popular on the iPhone IIRC.

wait does this mean. wp7 will be updateded to wp8 like iOS for iphones?
I'm asking myself that question for a while now. Debbie Downer says no, reason says that Microsoft can't to dump WP7 users like that and support two ecosystems etc. We haven't heard enough about WP8 to know for sure.

Was there something that made you think otherwise? I always figured phones would at a minimum would get fully supported by updates for the life of the typical contract (~2 years) and probably longer.

But those are really the only few games other than tentacles and HT Go that are exclusive and good. Also, those came out early in the life cycle of WP. There has really been nothing since.

Also, I don't think xbox live on WP will completely catch up to ios, but I at least thought they would try to bring the really good title from iphone to xbox live. I mean they still don't have the other two angry birds games.

Xbox should be a selling point on windows phone, but right now it just seems like an after thought.

Bouncy Mouse, great game!

It is, but outside of 30 or so independent games there really isn't anything there.
