:lol @reactions. I was kinda hopping you guys would do it. It would be funny just to see the fustration and anger.
man I could use a laugh or two after playing portal 2. Not done yet so don't spoil anything.

So I've concluded that PenTile is the worst idea a screen manufacturer can come up with. I can't see the subpixels on the Nintendo DS screen, but somehow, impossibly, I'm able to make out the separate red/blue subpixels on my Omnia 7 screen with almost twice the PPI.

Also discovered that Windows Phone downloads over 3G instead of WiFi when it's locked, which is causing me to go over my bandwidth limit. Seriously, what the hell? It's the only huge issue I have with Windows Phone, but unfortunately it's not something many would notice

What was the reason given that you have to roll back before Mango? Why can't we update from Mango beta?
You won't get the new Mango-compatible firmware with new drivers for the new APIs.

I'm laughing, because this is one of the reasons I didn't get an Omnia 7. I love the OLED technology, the camera is really great, the phone looks great, but that pentile matrix, damn. I'm really hoping for that Omnia 7 refresh with Mango HW and a SAMOLED+ screen, like the Focus S.

Its one of those battery saving features l. WiFi should remain active if you plug into the wall

Hmm, do you guys know if those digital copy that come with blu-ray movie are compatible with Zune or just Windows Media player? I have been just redeem them on iTunes since it's easy and if I ever change computer I can always redownload them via iTunes. How does that work Windows Media device? Do the DRM stuck on to your computer hardware?

Sorry it's slightly off topic.

edit: nvm it's only work on Play for sure device for Windows Media Player. WTF Microsoft, and you are wondering why everyone use Apple products. All these digital stuff need to be redeemable in Zune marketplace.

Yeah, really sucks. I always redeem them on iTunes even though I have no iOS device right now. It really stinks that these can play on Windows Media Player and not on the phones. One more reason to kill off Zune and unify their media player strategy.

I had to send my LG Optimus 7 to repair. They say 10 days, possibly 7. I feel mango will be out by then.
Mine was replaced. Had issues rebooting and losing sound. Bought it used but they still took it in for warranty.

I want Mango and a new phone to go along with it. Sprint needs to come correct this fall.
Worse thing about the Arrive (besides the annoying slide mechanism for the keyboard) is that the signal strength for the phone is terrible. The previous Touch Pro 2 puts it to shame.

Now that Facebook has "circles", I'm really enjoying being able to easily post to just various groups. Is there any way to post to lists from the mobile phone (outside of the browser)? Would it take a firmware update for the People hub to be able to allow us to filter by lists and post to just lists?

So, need some WP7 help again:
(Not on Mango)

Is it possible to join a Wifi network with a non-public SSID? There's no option I can see to do so.

What I see is:
Wifi Networking On/Off
(Checkbox) Notify me when new networks are found
PublicSSID1 (open)
default (open)
farts (...
...

Guess I can't put this phone on my work Wifi then! Yay!

So is this "Mango" pretty cool?

j/k I know it is the bees knees. I have been doing a good job of not paying attention to when it might be released on AT&T and all the goodies it will give me and didn't want to install it early. I want to be surprised.

SOON! plz

The Mango wait is getting towards funny for people. It's not quite NoDo level yet, but it's heading there especially for people that didn't grab it over the summer.

In mango, is there a way to check the status of videos you're uploading to FB?

As far as I know no... I've had problems with this too as I've uploaded and then I wasn't sure if it was uploaded and it didn't appear in my feed so I tried again then checked later and I had 2 videos....

Exact issue I have at work. Bugs the crap out of me that I can not add a hidden network.

C'mon, this is nothing like NoDo. Mango is out there and if you really want it, you can have it. In addition to that, we have several carriers around the world that are ready to ship Mango, when Microsoft says so. My guess is end of the month, before Apple announces the iPhone 5 and ships iOS 5.

Taking an eternity for these updates to come out... Honestly now, next time you announce something have a set stone date as to when you can actually deliver the product. Ugh.

I meant more in terms of the salivation of people in this thread for the non summer mangoers really. :P

Mango fixes this for you as soon as the updated is pushed. It was IMO a dumb oversight from the beginning, but you can know a fix should be to you in the next couple of weeks. :P

What phone do you have? All HTC phones can download a free app from the market place called "Hidden Wifi".
Add the SSID in this app, then go back to the wifi settings menu and the hidden Wifi spot will show up.

Even if you are not using an HTC phone, still worth searching for it on the app marketplace.

Thanks for the heads up. When I go home and am able to get on Wifi, I will download the app, and then tomorrow I should be able to get my phone on the work wifi. :)

Good to hear.. had no idea Mango was that close. Guess I have not been keeping up.

Thanks for the intel.

I was posting from my phone, and was easier to do it that way with the posts. Plus I have to keep my post count close with Van. :P

http://windowsteamblog.com/windows_phone/b/windowsphone/archive/2011/09/21/where-s-mango-an-update-on-timing.aspx

For months, we and dozens of our partner companies have been laying the groundwork for the Windows Phone 7.5 update—and making solid progress. As a result, we now expect to start rolling it out in the next week or two. At that time, we’ll also refresh the Where’s My Phone Update? table to reflect the worldwide rollout status.

This also seems like a good time to caution against installing unofficial or leaked copies of Windows Phone software.

During the official Windows Phone 7.5 update process, every Windows Phone will also receive software from the handset manufacturer. This matched and paired firmware has been painstakingly tuned so your phone—and apps—work with all the new features of Windows Phone 7.5. Since your phone requires the proper firmware to function as designed, my advice is simple: steer clear of bootleg updates and homebrew tools.

The voice-to-text doesn't even work that well for me, no better than any conventional speech to text software you can find on computers. I avoid using it now

You have to be patient with it. At first, it wasn't very accurate at all and I stopped using it. But as I made a conscious effort to use it and regulate my speech patterns, I started nailing my messages in one shot. For example, my niece tried using my phone to send voice texts last week and the messages were laughably butchered, but I could repeat her same messages and have them dictated back to me with no problem. Don't give up on it. If Frankie can use this feature with his accent, you should be fine!

Yeah, its similar to the voice stuff in Ford Sync (also done by MS). Once you get used to what works best, you get really good results.

That said, voice recognition on Android is still better.

yep. not only that but the system uses an online database that is constantly updated
(and shared with Kinect and other devices) so it will only improve over time to (according to MS) be the best system ever.

there is an article floating around about MS's investment and the technology behind it.

Went to buy something. Can't use my MS points (*rolleyes*).

Fine, I'll use the Paypal account that is connected to my Live ID. Can't use Paypal.

Fine, I'll add a credit card. Go to Zune.net online. Helpfully, even though I registered for Zune with the same Live ID as Xbox, the address change I did on Xbox like more than a year ago didn't propagate over to the rest of my Live ID so I have to update my address first. Okay.

Now, to add the credit card. Error, please try again soon.

Fine, I'll try the Zune application.

Fine, I'll try a different credit card.

No, there wasn't anything wrong with the first credit card. No, there wasn't anything wrong with my address.

I'd love to read a review from you. pre-Mango and then with Mango.

Yeah, Zune is random as fuck like that, even the website is the same.

I tried to add my friend's CC countless times on the Zune software and the website to no avail, even tried X360 site.

Adding it on his X360 console did the trick from the first try.

MS should really add MS Points, shit is ridiculous.
