wait those of us who updated to Mango beta directly (with unlocked device) we will not have to roll back to NoDo?
If you're on the beta build 7712 then yes, you can update straight to the official mango RTM for your phone. If you're on the internal RTM build 7720, then no, you need to roll back to NoDo.

Check your build under settings, about, more info.

So I just realized that I'm not even completely updated on my Focus. I used the Brandon Watson's tool to update to NoDo 7390 a while back, but completely forgot that the update process to 7392 didn't work and I figured I'd take care of it later. Completely forgot!

So...what's the easiest way for me to get my phone into upgradeable shape for Mango? I can hunt down the instructions for 7392, but since I used that tool, will I not be able to upgrade to Mango, regardless?

Debating on running the roll back tool while I head to bed... idk... I'll just probably wait till tomorrow to be sure Mango is in fact out and all...

yea I forgot I want to tweak my theme colors while I'm in unlocked NoDo before I leap forever to Mango...

think I'll wait til it's out also and then roll back to NoDo anyway and tweak and then update

All signs point to tomorrow as a big day for Windows Phone and Mango, so it shouldn't be of too much surprise that those same servers that will be pushing out Mango to the masses have been turned off.

Specifically, some folks are now trying to upgrade to the developer build (7712) or even the security update (7392) for various reasons and they are finding that Microsoft's servers are reporting their phones as being "up to date" even though they were on the very old 7004 (aka pre-NoDo). Users at XDA and WPCentral forums have both reported the same phenomenon of not being able to do any updates.

The speculation is of course that MS is prepping their servers for Mango and therefore have disabled all further updates. We've also noticed the Marketplace has ceased publishing new apps (though old ones are being updated). We're gonna call this a pretty good sign that something big is about to happen and we're not writing it off as coincidence.

My old backup I found is pre-NoDo ... *sigh*

e:
And the web marketplace is online:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/marketplace

And works quite well. Downloaded two games from the browser and both magically appeared on my phone. Nice.

Aww, only US marketpalce so far it seems.

edit: website is redirecting to mango.microsoft.com - was the "7.5 Phone" infos on the site before? Never browsed it.

Works in UK, although it only sends an email with instructions and direct link.
AWWWW!

The Where's my update page is up:

International: http://mango.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/update-schedule-world.aspx
US: http://mango.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/update-schedule-usa.aspx

Pretty much all of them say scheduling, which is annoying because that can take upto 10 business days. I never understood why they do that!

If they can release Windows 7 updates to everyone of 450 million customers every month, they can do it for their <5 million WP7 customers twice a year.

Yep, no Mango for me today. If I roll back, I'll be on 7.0.7004 RTM, because the update from Zune 4.8 beta to 4.8 RTM killed my NoDo backup and Microsoft doesn't deliver the 7390 or 7392 anymore and neither the 7712 beta nor the 7720 RTM provide the NoDo update. That's lame.

Are you sure? I bought my phone with stock 7004 2 months ago and it updated fine.

What's the difference between the Internal build and the official one apart from some very small phone specific changes? I think I'll just stay on this build until the next update comes out.

Hardware drivers.

And now starts the incessant clicking of the update button in Zune.

Edit: :'(

I'll be checking for updates with two phones. A stock, unmodified NoDo LG Quantum and a Samsung Focus with the developer build.

Let's see which one of us gets an update notification first!

Are you on the RC or RTM?

Why is Sprint the only one in the testing phase?

Gah, Tmobile is still scheduling. Anybody know how long it's been in that state? Otherwise could be next week until the update...

7712, I had tried the RTM update and it failed so I never bothered again, so it looks like I lucked out on that one. I still have my NoDo backup so the Zune software is offering me a restore to NoDo. I checked the date on the restore and its the same date I posted that I got mango on this thread, so that's definitely NoDo restore. Whichever update gets pushed out first (the developer rollback or the official NoDo update from at&t is what I'll use.

Wow, the marketplace works really well. Now they need a section where they store your apps and save states, plus text messages, and I won't even care if they update Zune.

Almost everyone is on scheduling, some are even on Testing still. So it will be NOW or IN TWO WEEKS, theoretically. (I hope today)

What does 'scheduling' even mean? I'm curious because there were many carriers who said they were ready to roll out the update but had to wait for the green-light from Microsoft.

I'd expect a lot of those on "scheduling" to become "delivering update" starting today. As you pointed out, they already have the scheduling down for a ton of carriers, but until MS presses the big red "update to mango" button, the status will remain "scheduling".

It only says that. It will still remotely install the application.

This is basically the launch.
Hm. SMS did not work, E-Mail worked but is cumbersome (open E-Mail, click Link, klick install...). And there was no APP magically appearing on my Phone.

Turns out I can't use any of the windowsphone.com features. Ringing, locating, and locking my phone doesn't work either. Must be another US-only feature... ugh.

Definitely not an US-only feature. Those features are available since launch and are not region locked.

I expect this as well. One of the problems with big tech Companies being on the US West Coast is they are virtually the last main part of a landmass in the Northern Hemisphere for that day. Keep moving west, and you hit Asia which is a day ahead. So it FEELS like it takes a long time because for people in say EU they can be like 8 hours ahead. If MS doesn't push the update out till last in the Day MS time it's either the next day or almost the next day for a lot of the rest of the world. :P

I hope this Scrapbook thing is updated to support showing of Geotagged pictures, that'd be pretty cool. Or does it already do that? I think I read that it will show images that are associated with a check in.
