omg, please be the nokia 900.

Isn't that just 800 screen (the glass part anyway)?

I think they are doing what is best, launch Nokia phone in territory where they are strong and have good support. Nokia practically have no presence here in the US, let alone any type of relation with carrier when it come to smartphone. I think it was best for US to get phone by Samsung and HTC (also a way for MS not to alienate their other partners).

Though it so tempted for me to import one ... may be in a few months they will be cheaper. I really want my next phone to be no contract. Though all those Focus S video and picture are tempting me. Must resist!

Oh, if you are looking for accessories for last year Windows Phone, At&T is blowing them out. I got another incipio feather case for $5.00. (Just in case my wife "upgrade" her phone, she wont have to inherit my old beat up one)

I also think it's increasingly important that Nokia debut in the US with LTE-ready phones of some sort, and preferably something on CDMA. I'm okay with them hashing things out in their normal markets while they create an actual flagship device for the NA debut sometime next year. Success overseas is good for us here, too.

Doesn't Bing have that?
Edit: Or is that desktop only?
Bing Maps has it in Canada or the US? I only see directions for driving and walking here. Which is a damn shame because I really, really prefer the Bing maps UI to the iOS and Android maps :/

I hope the rumor about Nokia maps coming to all WP is true.

Waitwait... there is another Nokia WP coming?

There are plenty coming, rumors said around 12 in 2012.

I don't think that that is one though. It definitely does look like a decomposed Lumia 800, as mentioned earlier.

jan 12???????????

No, not jan 12. 12 devices, lol. Though that could be an old an inaccurate rumor by now.

I think its safe to say that it won't be a once a year thing with Nokia though

The bigger thing I'd like to know is just what Apollo is going to bring. Mango was sort of WP7 done right like it should have been. I think Apollo is really going to big the next jump though.

They'd be crazy not to launch with an updated kernel along with new hardware with better specs that can finally be used. The UI itself seems rather complete so you wonder what's going to come in the update. More focus on filling out missing features while nice doesn't seem to be hold the WOW factor that this update is rumored to be. It shall be interesting.

PS: Best thing about 2012 across the board will be the upgrade to extremely high res phones across all platforms.

I was trying to wait for Verizon to get a new Phone 7 device, but my droid finally reached a state of working so poorly that I had to go ahead and get the Verizon Trophy. I'm actually pretty impressed with the device, apart from it doesn't have 4G and only has 16 GB of storage.

Has anybody successfully upgraded the hidden SD card in this thing to 32 GB (or larger)? I know it's been done on the GSM version of the phone, but I'm not sure if the phone being CDMA and on Verizon would cause any issues with upgrading.

That said, Win phone 7 is AWESOME, best phone OS out there, IMO. They really need 1) tablet version and 2) iPOD Touch-like device with this OS 3) 4G LTE Phones with 4" screens and 32GB storage...

I was keen to go Mango, but I think I'll wait until I can change to Apollo and I can get an upgrade on my hardware specs from my Galaxy S 2. I'm willing to pay a lot of money, but I want a higher res AMOLED screen, with at least the same specs for Cameras, processor, memory, etc.. So I've put my excitement on hold and will keep an eye on how things go.

Apollo/Tango: - Animated live tiles.

I called it first!

The Facebook app has an update, and I went to update it on my phone, but it's saying "this app is designed for a newer version of Windows Phone..." I'm confused. I'm on Mango.

Just went to Marks and Spencers for lunch and had a bit of a surprise when I got to the Women's Magazine rack by the till. Has anyone else noticed that nearly every Woman's Mag has a front page ad and article for the new Nokias?

Does anyone happen to know what the update is for my Omnia 7?

It just says "Samsung update for Windows Phone" in the Zune software. Does it do or add anything new?

im not sure if the initial mango delivery had that samsung patch that disabled the capacitive buttons

It added/enabled the internet sharing feature on my phone

niiiice

edit: just been on the phone with T-Mobile UK and they said I won't be charged for using it because it's a phone feature. :D

Fuse has been updated to Mango. I really like the square theme with its flipping tiles. It also works in the background and you can add live tiles.

Sooo ST-Ericcson says in their PR statement that Nokia has ordered dualcore chips from them for future Windows Phone 8 devices.

This is the press release.
NOKIA SELECTS ST-ERICSSON AS SUPPLIER FOR FUTURE WINDOWS PHONE DEVICES

November 02, 2011

NovaThor™ platform to enable Nokia to extend Windows Phone devices to new price points and geographies

Geneva, Switzerland, November 2, 2011 – Nokia has selected ST-Ericsson as a supplier for future devices it plans to introduce based on the Windows Phone mobile platform.
“We are pleased to have been selected by Nokia as a key partner for Windows smartphones, in line with our goal to be present in all segments and major operating systems,” said Gilles Delfassy, president and CEO of ST-Ericsson. “Our NovaThor platforms continue to gain traction as they enable customers to bring great smartphones to the market.”

It doesn't say it in the pr but supposedly there's been reports that the first dual-core phone from Nokia will have U8500 chip from ST-Ericcson. That could be true or false and it could be for WP7 or WP8 phone.

W8 phone and tablets.

A few things people need to understand.

The kernel supports a max of 512 MB's of RAM
The OS (ATM) doesn't support multihreading or additional cores
Max of 800X480 res
SD card's actually use the Secure features which is why you don't see many phones with it (support nightmare)

You won't see these thing change until a major revision of the OS. I highly doubt Tango will add support for any of these things.

All I need is a larger screen Nokia @ 32 GB. It's going to be extremely hard to pass up on the Focus S on the 6th though.

You said the PR mentioned dual-core SoCs, I corrected you.

Windows Phone OS 7 and 7.5 will remain Qualcomm exclusive and that won't change anytime soon. There won't be any dual-core Windows Phones before OS 8, aka Apollo, is ready. Not from Nokia or anyone else.

That's all.
