Ok guys, I booked the playoff matches. I hope everyone reads this post, because I'm changing a couple rules. I'll put this at the start of the thread to raise my odds

Important playoff settings

-20 minute games not 15

-Silver goal extra time, with penalties on

-Every game is a single game elimination, no more two game series

The bracket image itself isn't working, but the games are posted there. Please enter in a brief recap, and I'd encourage everyone to look at the other recaps so it's not just me and the recapper benefitting from them.


I will be giving everyone until midway through next week to play the first round games. But I don't think I'll need to be bugging anyone to play their games.

-12 international teams. Random team draft order. Once the league fills I will randomly assign draft order, and people can pick teams

-We'll keep team stats, but there aren't enough games to warrant individual stats

-I'd split it into 2 conferences of 2 divisions, each with 3 teams. Then you'd play 8 games most likely. one series of 2 against your division mates (4 games) then one game against the 3 people in the other division in your conference (3 games) and then finally one game against a team in the other conference (1 game) for a total of 8 matches before the playoffs. The key to this being a success would be creating even divisions.

-I'm not going to start this until season 2 of the league is complete. I don't think this'll be an issue though. Still, it'll be good to figure out what team you're using before the cup starts so that you'll have time to practice with them.

Now if Garrickk, and Miguel join...that'd only leave two free spots before we could start with the teams.

this also brings up a good point: we are going to have a bit less free time over the next month here. WC06 will be competing for time with everything else here for a bit, so hopefully we can make allowances for this.

not sure when the tourney will be starting, but its definitly going to be cutting into my game playing time.

im sure we can work around it somehow.

Do you guys think I should open up all of the 8 first round games at once? The upside is we'd be able to move quickly and at own own pace. The downside is that we'd move at our own pace. Some of us (Beatbox, Huka, Larry Bird, myself) might be able to play all their games in 4 days, while others might take upwards of 2 weeks. I guess I kind of answered my own question.

Ok....We have 12 people now. I am going to randomly assign the team draft order (using a number randomizer program). The final order will be posted up top and in this post, and people can begin to pick their teams. If you're 3rd, for example, feel free to post your top 3 choices and you can be done with it. Hell, if you're 12th you can post your top 12 choices to speed things up for me. I think you all know how this works by now. As I said I'm not starting this till season 2 is over, so that'll give me time to set up the site again and for you all to be used to your teams.

The latest this will be starting is friday. Maybe thursday.

Daigoro will have until noon on wednesday to make his pick. That's about 36 hours from now. Hopefully his schedule won't be a problem. I've got Larry Bird's picks ready.

We have 8 opening round games. I'm going to release the first four on day 1, and then we'll see from there. I'm not big on deadlines anymore, but I'll do my best to stop someone slowing us down. Socreges said he'd be away this weekend, so that's ok..I can deal with those. It's when people just go MIA I get annoyed.

Anyway, the first round will be done in 2 batches of 4 games.

8 of the 12 will make the playoffs, which is 2 more than the league..but the #1 overall team will face the #8 (most likely) so there's a big incentive to win all you can.

There's one good team left that hasn't been mentioned. I'm not going to say their name until it's over. I think they're quite a bit underrated in WE though, so they're still probably not as good as the 4 posted here, but in real life they're dangerous.

If you're lucky, schedules up tonight. 2 games vs guys in your division, 1 game vs guys in the other division of your conference, and one game vs the other conference..for a total of 8.

My only fear is that conference 1 is too stacked, but having 8/12 make the playoff rounds should solve that problem

Came down to the Czechs, Portugal or Sweden for me. Thanks to Fifty for whooping me 4-1 or so England vs Sweden I had to pass. I picked the Czechs with hopes that my super goalie would keep me in the game.
