oh come on, a series that makes me, a heterosexual, lusting after a male character has to be something special...right? :/
Err what? I find the bar you've set for men that'd you'd go gay for awfully low. Neither his male or female form was particularly lust worthy.
Raiders of the Lost Ark era Harrison Ford, now that's a guy you go gay for.

Oh, I second or third or whatever Toradora, it was fun, I also liked Itazura na Kiss.

Cross Game is more a shounen sports anime than romance as sometimes it gets put in the background and even then it drags.

Gotta disagree with that. Cross Game is definitely romance/relationship first, sports second. However, I would hesitate to recommend it if someone is looking for a pure romance series. It is a slow burn, but does not drag.

blue hair + pony tail = hot

Im not posting pictures, not sure if Gaf allows that. :D

@Toradora: It was definitely entertaining, but daaaamn, some really annoying situations AND the most annoying character of the forever.

the blue haired one? yea, she has issues. :\

I dunno, i'm 10 episodes in but im not feeling it, the premise is solid but it seems that the characters have diverged from their original goals and are now just... around.

Holy shit there is a show about preschoolers and kindergardeners. :lol

Durarara! looks good but I heard it was mildly un-interesting.

The first episode was just there to introduce all the characters, of which there are about a dozen, and drop a few hints for an ongoing mystery. It's going to be a really awesome show, I think.

The annoying one would be the Genki Girl. (the one that runs around with her arms flailing and acting stupid. Trust me. She gets stupider and more annoying.

It's sort of by default.

Kushieda is annoying in her vapidity at first, and annoying for other reasons later.

Everyone else gets better with character development, but she manages to inspire a lot of ire.

Part of the problem is that her major character arc mostly involves her being cryptic and when they resolve her character arc, it was predictable and stupid

oh yea, there's no question where she's going.

but how the blue haired one just irks me. Like who she randomly jumped between 'im going to be myself!' back to 'hahaha, im such an airhead!' to 'okay, i'll only by myself to my playthings/friends!' and then 'I guess i can be a troll infront of my childhood friend and this random chick too....'.

then there's the whole, 'oh shit, other people are happy and im going to be left the odd person out. must. ruin. friendships.' Ugh. compared to that i'm perfectly fine with the stereotypical hard working, high energy peppy girl with family issues whose afraid to get close to people.

Ami (blue hair) has a totally redeeming moment that makes her the best character in the series.

well, there isn't a relationship real or imagined that she hasn't yet tried to poison, so i guess she could cure cancer or something.

It's better (within context), imho. Let's just say Ami does something I had been wishing would happen for a few episodes.

Ami was a love/hate thing for me. I really liked the character, but at the same time, i wanted to slap her for being a damn bitch at times.

Toradora is fun and charming. Anyone on the fence should check it.

Unfortunately, the ending steps into Asian melodrama pretty quickly though. But I suppose the very last scene makes up for it.

In the end, a lot of its flaws were made up by having an actual definitive ending instead of resorting to the Tenchi solution.

Dragging it on by it's hair for so long until even the most hardcore fanbase can't watch anymore?

Tenchi Solution: Whereby a major plot arc in question is a romantic entanglement, but no actual romance ever occurs because doing so would require upset annoying shipper fans invested in some obscure pairing. Otherwise known as the "no ending."

Are you guys seriously hading on Minori?

You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Just finished watching Kimi ni Todoke 14, then 5cm per second afterwards. GAH.. it's literally 'life sucks the movie', this is why I need shows like K-On.. or if I had known better I would have watched them in reversed order. Good thing I started Hyakko :D

Anyways about Durarara thought it was good it was a bit slow because it was introducing characters but still good. The anime reminded me of Ikebukuro West Gate Park J-Drama which was pretty good.

I would just like to thank you for making me check out IWGP! This show was amazing! I didn't even know that one of my favorite actors, Yosuke Kubozuka was in it! Thanks man <3

Haha, next episode will continue to be depressing... then it's back to the happy happy fun times with Sawako for a while until the REAL angst starts.

Oh, man, Durarara gave me the same feeling that Baccano gave me when it started. So many characters and crazy stuff going on, and it all has the potential to be awesome.

Yea but somehow it's something you don't want to relate to but yet is part of life.

Torako & Tatsuki make a great comedy duo.. it's as if like Haruhi had a super bitchy 'i'm too cool for you' version of Kyon that would call her out on her crap.

Survey SAYS:

Apparently it was the author's idea that they did a retelling instead:

When they decided to make Vampire Bund into an anime; I suggested them "you don't have to follow the manga; please do an original story" but Yoshino-san and Shinbo-san said they want to follow the manga since it's already good. I then asked them to challenge it by doing an original script but retain the manga's story as much as possible. I think we have done a good job to it, even me reading the script thinks it's interesting.

Vampire Bund episode 2 was really.. weird, i dunno. Kinda shitty compared to the first episode. Not unexpected though - i'll watch a couple more episodes to see if it builds up any sort of intrigue.

DitVB 2 was definitely better than episode 1. That talk show shit was a waste of time. Durarara 2 was a bit eh, i didnt want an entire episode on that bitch

Drrr! 2 was weird.
Started kind of slow,
retelling what we saw in the first episode from a different angle
was making me sort of bored, then the second half kicked in and it was sort of awesome.

Thought Durarara! 2 was pretty good. First half wasn't that boring, and I like how they're taking their sweet time introducing the characters. It's to be expected but I like the similarities with Baccano, even the intro thing where they play some stuff from the last episode. Next one seems to be a little more action-ish, will be waiting for that.

Been out of the anime watching loop for months due to sheer laziness and/or sadness at Eden of the East series ending back in June. Have 20 eps of Cross Game to watch so I started again tonight and slipping back in was such a breeze - reminds me why I love it so much. Aoba kicking ass against the National Woman's Baseball Team was awesome. I'll get around to watching through FMA soon as I think I have 20 eps of that to watch as well :|

Grabbed the first two eps of Durarara and I've got high hopes. Only checked out the OP and I am full of glee at the prospect of it all.

Speed = awesome
Getting angsty = pacing issues and totally not her fault.

I heard Asura Crying was supposedly decent? Basquash (different) and Valkyria probably based off game hype. I dunno i've dropped Cross Game at this point, felt like they weren't going anywhere fast it's like a sports anime with the training etc.

I feel like Durarara has become the only anime worth watching this season; the source material is great and the direction is well executed. I'm a big anime nerd but the only series I've been able to enjoy in the past few years is Baccano, which is from the same team ironically enough.

EDIT: Wait, that's a dirty lie, I enjoyed Mononoke as well.

Asura Cryin was passable as something to blow 25 minutes, well season 2 was, the first season was fucking terrible. Has no place being on a top 10 list however.
