I heard Asura Crying was supposedly decent? Basquash (different) and Valkyria probably based off game hype. I dunno i've dropped Cross Game at this point, felt like they weren't going anywhere fast it's like a sports anime with the training etc.

1st season of Asura Crying was garbage the 2nd season one was decent though. Cross Game isn't really a sports anime but instead about the characters yeah it's a bit slow but worth it to see the relationships slowly change from what they were in the beginning, it's really more of a slice of life type anime.

As for Asura Cryin being on the list I'm not sure what else is a candidate..

er..
Chii's Sweet Home 2
Phantom
Pandora Hearts
Guin Saga
argh just noticed Natsu no Arashi was ignored basically ; _ ;

Railgun 15 - felt like a filler episode with random brawler and esper handicaps
Durarara 2 - pretty interesting seems like the show is shaping up to be some kind of reverse suicide operation

Those lists are kind of meaningless, altho it should help those people always complaining about moe and loli killing anime understand why so much moe and loli anime is made. Japan seems to love it more than the other stuff.
At least quality shows like Eden are still recognized.... then again shit like Asura Cryin ends in a list and Natsu no Arashi doesn't, which is depressing.

Japanese Rankings on 2009 anime, first is from ratings of Dengenki, and secondly from 2ch.
Japanese seem to have better taste then i thought. Good to see good shows like eden and bakemonogatari getting recognition.

K-ON was over Eden though. Both places.
Must be they prefer comedy-moe over intellectual-depressing(?) also I believe KyoAni was on a hot streak with Haruhi -> Lucky Star -> K-ON.. (with Kanon/Clannad inbetween) that streak ended with endless 8.

The streak ended with choco-coronets.

Bakatest: This series manages to be funny despite all probabilities.

Durarararararara: Hm. Still not feeling the same vibes Baccano gave me. Neko-helmet is awesome though.

First episode of Nodame Cantabile Finale was good. Not great like the first season, but still some good funny moments. Can't wait for the next episode.
Oh, and I like the opening alot.

Ok so Im into the 3rd season of Nodame cantible and eagerly awaiting the new episode already!!! I don't agree with some dude that said it's more about music and then romance. Music is the key that drives the romance for chiaki and nodame to progress further. I just wish chiaki would just bone nodame already. That guy needs to get laid.

I've watched todoke but am getting annoyed that she always reads her thoughts and gets into a loli-like appearance. However it's an alright romance anime so far.

For now, I am watching Bokura ita someshit ep. 1 so any other romance anime that's worth watching?

Itazura na Kiss, maybe? It's a bit better than Kimi ni Todake imo, but it can be annoying.
Honey&Clover? That's good.
Hanasakeru Seishounen? I find it pretty good, altho at times it can feel more political than romance.
Kurenai isn't exactly romance, but in a way it can feel romantic, so why not drop it in as a suggestion.
Aoi Hana, if you're not put off by girl on girl.
Oh, yeah, I was forgetting.... ToraDora, naturally.
And if you like depressing romance, White Album is worth watching.

I thought Clannad was amazing, except for the ending. It was so good I even bought the game.

Also recommended, just don't watch it around other people.

I'll take all those into consideration except bolded cuz I've already seen them already. If there's more you know, feel free to post them. Also, I don't mind girl on girl romance either.

Same here. Unimpressed so far and I thought the second episode was even less interesting than the first.

Yeah, I liked the first one enough, but I was pretty bored with the second. The intro does give me hope, though, and I guess that it can't be as interesting as Baccano in the beginning because it's more linear. But still, I'm a bit disappointed.

after stories ending? i still havent seen it, i figure the Nagisa scene will be too depressing for me. you know what i mean. :(

The Nagisa scene is not even the the most depressing one. It's the third worst with the whole ending being easily the worst. I was crying because it was so bad. They really should have found another way to squash in the games ending.

Agreed. The Deus Ex machina ending was such BS it pretty much ruined the series for me.

I still love the series. It's rare to find an anime (adaption) that features such a convincing character development going from a fun high school comedy to a melancholic, complicated and depressing family/slice of live story. But it's really a shame that they couldn't find a good way to implement the ending. They shouldn't have packed the games ending into one single episode.

Honey & Clover is insanely good
if you are not put off by older (i.e. awesome) anime, Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road are totally sweet and awesome

Girl on Girl.. well I thought Kashimashi was pretty good.

Just finished Hanamaru Kindergarden 2, not quite funny but the kids are adorable especially Hiichan she's so moe. I just love her dead souless eyes and the seemingly constant disinterested expression, though they seem to change depending on her getting excited also animal costumes.

Agreed. The ending was really confusing and I had to read up on it to understand it. I can see how an ending like that would work for a video game but as a TV production it fails. Even with the ending Clannad is still amazing. The shift from happy times to depressing was very well done.

I am going to second this. I had dismissed it as crap going by the preview but after the positive feedback from the first episode I decded to watch it and it has been great so far.

Really? I thought both episodes were pretty interesting, especially the second one. Its probably gonna take longer for everything to come together than in Baccano, which makes sense since this series is supposed to be longer.

It was interesting if taken by itself but felt completely out of place in relation to the premise and episode 1.

However, neko-helmet's cell-phone trick is badass.

Fail.

I can't even think of a single redeeming quality to the chick.

I do like energetic girls
and even though her being faking it is much like Ami's being two faced to hide their true selves, it was annoying after a while

I loved Minori, I have to say, I questioned myself watching it a couple times, Where is this leading me? Where is this going? I would ask myself, but it all built and wrapped up so beautifully in the end.

Well, okay, I just watched the first episode of Vampire Bund, and I was impressed by how much like the World of Darkness and Vampire: The Masquerade it seemed to be except that the ruler of the vampires is an eternal loli. Somebody better tell White Wolf Studios, it looks like they've got somebody new to sue! :lol

We all knew who Ryuuji would've ended up with but the writers did a fantastic job of making them all seem "possible" endings.

DrForester

Kills Photobucket
Nodame was fun and looks to continue the things I love about the series. And Yhuzzah for a better OP/ED than the 2nd season had.

I'll third this. I find it pretty damn amusing myself, both the first and second episodes were pretty good fun so it's a watcher for me.

4 eps into Baccano, first episode nearly put me to sleep and still quite a few characters to get acquainted with but sofar Isaac and Miria are hilarious and things are starting to make more sense.

Just finished it as well. Wonderful series. Ending was predictable like everyone said, but still a very satisfying conclusion. I rate it a 9.5/10.

Ami Bakachi is easily the most refreshing character I've seen in a long time. She's so entertaining, and is overall a great supporting character. She was definitely not the one I was rooting for though. I always thought she was gonna end up with Kitamura, but I guess not. I was personally rooting for Minorin for some reason. I feel bad for her, since she sacrificed everything for the sake of others. I kinda wish that she became a better person in the end. It seemed like everyone changed throughout the series, but Minori stayed the same. As for Taiga, I didn't really like her that much at first, but it was nice seeing her evolve into a better character every episode. I love what she did at the end.
