Yui clone

Oh yeah, and I wanted to say that she isn't exactly a Yui clone of course. I mean, yeah, the character design is very, very similar. She's not just like Yui though... she's not nearly as stupid. :) I mean, Yui is a complete idiot, really. She doesn't often act like she has much of a brain... Kanata isn't really an idiot, she's just impulsive sometimes (as with the almost jumping off the balcony trying to catch that owl thing in the first episode). Of course they also have the perfect pitch thing in common, so the similarities are suspicious, but I just don't find her annoyingly stupid like I do Yui.

Durarara!! episode 4 was fantastic as usual. There was some really good scripting and character interactions happening here, too. It seems like people complain about there being no good anime, but then pass up stuff like DRRR. Luckily, DRRR seems to be (at the very least) gaining more interest than Baccano! did when it first came out.

Thanks!

Just want to watch something that has a proper ending and doesn't has like 5 seasons, thats why I said not too long.
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of neverending stories. Self-contained stories like Monster are more my cup of tea.

So apparently The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya movie is coming out soon. The OST release date caught me by surprise and sounds promising. Might be the first time I buy a movie's OST before watching the corresponding movie if my friend repays me (which will be months away since I don't live in Japan). Anyone in Japan going to watch?

Hearing Erik Satie's Gymnopedie no.1 in the trailer was a very pleasant surprise too. Nice choice.

There hasn't been a decent horror anime for a long time now, I'd suggest checking out manga instead. Ito, etc.

Kimi Todoke or something is the most recent 'quality' romance. I liked the first few episodes, but it's sloooooooooow. Love the art, though.

Yeah. I've only seen the first episode so far, but it seems to have a lot of potential.

And Baka Test is such a stupid show :lol So dumb it's entertaining though.

Tell me about it, that shit pissed me off to no end, I watched it all thinking it was going to end and start the real shit again but no, just kept recapping and recapping, ugh. What's annoying is they probably think they're all clever mixing the recap in with the little men around the cup, since that does happen, but spending a whole episode on a recap is not clever. Fuckers.

Durarararara 4 : Headless Fetish was as enjoyable as any of the other episdoes - this slower pacing definetely suggests a lengthier show.

Katannatagari 1 : a.k.a the writting by Nisio Isin that isn't as good as Bakemonogatari, a.k.a faily cliched plot set up : this show isn't utter trash and the animation isn't awful so that pretty much makes it either second or third best show of the season. It's was alright but I wasn't hooked. Then again Duraralla's first episode didn't exactly set the world on fire. I live in hope.

Shaft, what the hell did you do to the Snake-Arc of Bakemongatari when you released it on DVD/Blu-ray. Pretty much looks like they threw away everthing and started from scratch, with added tentacles in the mouth. Classy.

Also, unrelated, Nadia is a bitch.

This isn't really a Winter 2009 anime, but I saw 50 Centimeters Per Second tonight and it was possibly the most touching movie I've seen in years. Soundtrack is excellent ;_;

I kind of want Dulalala to be tied to Baccano in some way.

Bakatest 4: Horribly cliched in every possible way yet extremely entertaining.

So, Ookamikakushi. It is a lot like Higurashi, but it's less mysterious. There's mysterious stuff, but only a few episodes in, you can get at least some idea of what's going on that's not being completely spelled out. I guess that's an improvement. Sitting around for half a season or more in utter confusion is not always super fun.

K-On! season 2 to air in april !
Best news of the day/week/month/year/forever !

Agreed. Cannot wait for this.

Um, Ookami Kakushi 3 was weird. Wasn't expecting that at all.
That and when Issei tried to get freaky with Hiroshi, Hiroshi was kinda useless. Smack him in the face man, it's not that hard.

Watched Durarara 4 last night. Damn awesome.

Eh, I prefer Baccano's frantic pacing, letting the audiences piece everything together themselves. Durarara, on the other hand, spends too much time in exposition.

Getting Lagann-hen right now, but it's so freaking huge. Taking a long time, will have to wait two more hours... oh well.

I like Durarararararara, but it seems like a 12 ep series.

Initially I couldn't connect or believe that there was a supernatural entity in this seemingly normal and grounded human world, but I'm now over it after episode 4. I just don't care because I like the character.

Funny that I had problems 'believing' in that, but not with the certain characters who clearly have inhuman strength and fighting ability. I just expected to see that.

I know, it's completely stupid, but entertaining nonetheless... of course the main character has a harem though, and both of the girls in the class love him (and one guy in another class, too). I know they're playing it for laughs for sure, but why do these characters always need harems... but even beyond that, it's definitely a very stupid show, But yeah, at least it is funny stupid. The characters are heavily stereotypical, but how stupid some of them are is funny. :) Of course having anime characters be idiots isn't exactly new, but it's not supposed to be new, just amusing. I've watched all four episodes so far. I can't call it good, it's not, but entertaining? Sure.

well if you liked the brutal parts in the final episode you might like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Not for the weak.

Higurashi is one of the best series ever despite the low-budget animation. It has some of my favorite tags assigned to it at anidb.net, such as "Killer Lolis" and "Some wierd shit goin' on". :lol

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3574

It's followed up by a considerably (and disappointingly) less bloody second season (Kai) that explains what is going on (following the structure of the visual novels) and then a 5-episode OVA series (Rei) which ties up a couple of loose plot ends.

Once you're all done with that, you're all set for Umineko no Naku Koro ni. The first season of that show ended a few months ago so you'll have time to get caught up for the second season which has yet to premiere (Chiru).

Currently Ookamikakushi is airing and some people are saying it's almost a clone of Higurashi. I'm not following it so I don't know what's going on there.

I don't know anything about Ryukishi07 and 07th Expansion but that guy is one seriously disturbed sonofabitch. :lol

If you're after horror and romance at the same time, follow Shiki (she's my avatar) to the Promised Land. :lol

Makoto Shinkai must have had a REALLY REALLY lonely childhood, because damn, with Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in our Early Days, and 5 Centimeters Per Second, he's made one hell of a trilogy of loneliness. :lol

I like the ending of #2 the most, because it's actually a semi-happy one.

Schwarzeneggar's Rule of Combat #8 (Predator Rule): If it bleeds, we can kill it.
Rule #8 Corollary: Everything bleeds in anime. Humans, robots, aliens, planets, you name it. EVERYTHING BLEEDS.

From this, we can conclude that ANYTHING can be killed in anime, if whoever is trying to kill it simply puts in enough effort. :lol

As someone who loved Higurashi, I'm severely disappointed with Ookamikakushi so far. It just seems so uninspired.

On the other hand, I can't get enough of Durarara!! Anime of the year already?

Well I see the first Darker than Black Gaiden episode is around.

Two things immediately come to mind - firstly, why wasn't this put out first as it makes sense from a story perspective. Well, I presume they wanted to gain 'new' viewers with the second season so they introduce a new character but frankly the story is such none-sense that it doesn't matter anyway. Secondly - ah delightful, we get to spend more time with an emotionless teenage girl dependant on older male figure. Splendid. Please cue some more fight scenes. Wait - no - don't cut away! We want to see people getting beaten up! Screw it, I'm just going to watch Sword of the Stranger again.

Durarara continues to be awesome. I really like that the rider has a story and a goal, I was thinking it would just the the thing that connects all the other characters.

DrForester

Kills Photobucket
2nd Gurren Lagann was great. Can't believe they
Made an even bigger robot
. Other than the
fist fight addition, I wish they had kept the final sequence of them launching smaller, upon smaller robot fully intact. Sending them out just to block the drill didn't seem as amazing to me.

DtB Ova was pretty great I can't wait for the next one.
Soranowoto 6 backpacking was great :lol they also reveal more of the world
Katanagatari I like the style they're going with and Togame's proclaimation/command has me liking her already, the eye thing reminds me of Gainax's Nia/Nono

I used to be really into anime but I fell away from it years ago. I'm interested in getting back into it. How do you guys watch these series? Only through DVD's, or is there a channel/website that shows them? I'm a total beginner right now :lol

I usually watch the latest anime mostly watched through streams, I heard google is a good website. If a series is complete I usually use torrents to watch them in one go.

I suggest Googling for 'Japanese cat sound' + torrents.

If you don't know what the Japanese cat sound is, I can't help you there. I'm already not sure if this post is bannable or not. :lol

I'd recommend crunchyroll.com for streams, they have a sizable collection.

If you liked the first season you'll like the others just as much most likely. I love Hidamari so it's been enjoyable every time.
