One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I agree with him, actually. Not the "shitload" comment, specifically, but the feeling of being hustled out of a great action show.

Balsa's three or so spear fights are some of my favorite examples of fighting choreography in anime.

You see, that's a fine comment to make and you've explained it well. But if you're writing a blog/review thing and you wish to make a point then at least honestly explain how you feel about the show rather than make an empirical comment about the number of action sequences contained within it.

Gankutsuou 7-12

This show can really get creepy at times. It's quite an experience to watch.

When this is all over, it's going to be fun to compare it to the novel and see just how much, if any, of the original plot remained intact.

It's surprisingly close, at least for a while, considering the change in setting.

Blogging would be so boring if people took the time to be precise in their wording and reasonable with their comments, though!

Gotta get those hits somehow.

I'd rather bloggers get hits from being borderline insane (obligatory Jason mention again) than from faux-intellectualism.

We're giving him hits years after the posts were made, so it's clearly working.

I don't agree. Focusing on underage characters is fanservice? That definition is... inflationary. I think PapaKiki is surprisingly low in terms of fanservice, quite enjoyable to watch, not very deep, just enough to relax.

I think that it's fanservice in this particular show because it's an anime about cute young girls that makes a very big deal about the fact that it's about cute young girls, though obviously it's up to the individual viewer to accept this passive form of fanservice as such.

You're part of the viewership rightfully watching the show for innocent reasons, as under everything there's a story of a young man trying to balance college and three children that he neither has the space nor the money to take care of. The show can be and has been very warm and sweet about the subject matter, it just periodically kills off whatever goodwill I try to accumulate toward it. I don't think that it's a bad show, just a little too torn between d'awwwwww and mmmmmmm.

It's still a form of pandering. Personality isn't a requirement. Hyper caricatures and character quirks is sufficient for this group.

I'm not denying that it's a form of pandering, just that Lagrange's is a less severe form than PapaKiki's.

We all know sports isn't intellectual anyway.

Pretty sure the point of the blog is to convey his opinions via trolling/humor, but that doesn't mean there aren't kernels of truth contained within!

I don't think it's particularly good idea to convey your our opinion through trolling. I suppose it doesn't really matter if you don't care what people think of your writing, but if you really do have anything insightful or interesting to say about a show (which he may well do) I will ignore what you have to say if you present it in that manner.

I really can't be bothered to sift through his words and parse out what he actually thinks about these shows because then I'm adding my own layer of bias on top of his words, which could very well lead me to read his intent wrongly.

What if the hands fell off?

Then the clock would only be right at the beginning and at the end of the universe.
If you're seeing something wrong there then you are the pervert.
See, Jexhius understands.

There is nothing wrong with my avatar at all. The real perverts are the ones who take issue with it.

17.) Azumanga Daioh (2002) – Wow, what a racist piece of shit. There’s a stereotype that all Japanese people are xenophobic toward foreigners. It probably used to be a lot more true back in the day than it is now. (When I was in Japan I got nothing but warmth from everyone there.) However, watching this series would make you think otherwise. Every chance they get, they take digs at all non-Japanese people, especially Americans. Now, that doesn’t necessarily make this a bad series, but it sure doesn’t help matters. Weeaboos, wishing they were Japanese, have no problem with this racism, or they don’t even notice it at all. (For example, the English teacher who can’t speak English at all and acts like a monkey when interacting with an American tourist.) Racism can be funny if done well. A show like South Park manages to make racist jokes while offering some kind of social commentary. This series, however, just makes racist jokes with the sole purpose of being racist. It adds nothing to the series whatsoever. It’s a piece of shit.

I can't even be mad about this. It's a pretty lazy troll, and if it's serious, it's hilarious.

If it was serious then it would be pretty funny. Sadly is isn't. The people who actually hold that kind of bizarre and unfounded opinion tend to write in a far less structured manner. They're more stream of consciousness/spelling mistakes/weirdly phrased arguments kind of people. For example:http://animesos.tumblr.com/post/13685476080

I would disagree actually. And I quote:

Unlike Madoka, the moelolis in PapaKiki aren't given any sort of personality to offset their objectification, so instead of being in the category of waifu service like Madoka, they inhabit the less classy category of fanservice that plays solely to the...uhh...more hands-on desires of the audience.
This isn't a requirement (although it should be but that's another discussion). It's just less offensive if they were more personable, but the fanservice is still equally offensive regardless. For example, there's vulgar, lazy fanservice like High School DxD, semi-classy Rinne no Lagrange fanservice and holy fanservice Inu x Boku.

Are there two Azumanga Daiohs? One that's a slice of life comedy and one that's racist hate fest?

"Holy" fanservice?

Sounds like a reading comprehension problem.

I would just feel bad if, as I attempted to find his 'authentic opinions', I ended up projecting incorrect interpretations over his words because his original intent wasn't clear enough. Alternatively the writer could just write what they actually think, shorn of all pretence, but that would probably be far more boring to read.

It was great. They walked into the town, was like "Everyone loves Hina-chan" and then this dude comes out of fucking nowhere, "Here, have a banana!" and shoves it in her face.
One of the many dangers of the world is strangers accosting you with their banana.

Those fucking endless fields, man. They run and run and run and they never get to the other side!
True... that curvature of the earth was still there, as pronounced as ever! I said some of the moments, though, and at least it was faster paced than the original series...

Unique taste and stuff. I don't like the idea of recommendations.
A little guidance at first can be helpful too, and I think we can possibly be at moments thankful for an acquired taste with time, because of an unexpected introduction or advice from someone.

It's quite hard to say that we possess a collective, homogenized view of anime. There's plenty of people here who like A B and C and other people who dislike A B and C, not to mention those fringe weirdos who like Z, which no-one else has ever even heard of. We're certainly not a hivemind. You can find a champion here for nearly every deserving cause.
Jexhius, I was being very sincere (post title included) with that remark, only trying to express myself for PdotMichael that all of us here can help equally and because of that there is no reason to disqualify on that matter the community as a whole. The "mission" I was talking about is that of saying our recommendations freely if we really want to, and said it to PdotMichael because I had the impression he wasn't convinced of that, but now I see that he simply doesn't likes the idea of recommendations. No sarcasm involved.

Such incredible intensity from beginning to end I completely forgot I was watching a boring sport. Chihaya's reaction faces were funny and team Taichi just gained some points.

The direction in Episode 1 was very senseless, and whenever the fanservice did appear, it magnified how directionless everything felt. It couldn't settle on what it wanted to be, yet the fanservice was strangely pronounced and strangely awkward against the vague tone the show intended.
That sounds like incompetence to me. Where does the holiness come into this?

Rinne no Lagrange 1-3

It's alright. Not really feeling it personally though. It's very pretty at least.

Madoka, tying your hair up like that is ugly, stop doing it. Please.
