While that does sound like a laborious process it obviously depends on how much material you have to convert and what kind of condition it's in, it's not going to take that long for everything. I'm willing to wait for those kind of good releases. I mean, if they can release Legend of the Galactic Heroes on Blu-Ray anyone can do it.
Heh...LoGH's BD release is upscaled from the SD TV broadcast masters, presumably because they decided a new telecine would cost too much.

Toei producer Wakabayashi Go confirms that the focus of the new Saint Seiya show will be on hand-to-hand combat rather than on spamming special moves. Umakoshi is gonna deliver, I just know it.

I'll believe it when I see it.

LoGH: Spiral Labyrinth 3

This is one of those LoGH episodes that's solely focused on historical exposition, and this one has no relevance to the larger plot outside of this little side story. It's dry, but still manages to be interesting through the vivid portrayal of historical figures and their relationships. Yang's sardonic commentary helps.

Speaking of SD and HD and animation techniques, this is one series which did not take the transition to early digital animation well. It's rarely been a looker, but Spiral Labyrinth is probably the cheapest it's ever looked. The pans over stills in particular look off, in a subtle way I can't quite describe.

Casshern Sins 2, here we come.

That's... not really the impression I get from what he said.

To the best of my knowledge, they couldn't get Girls On Film cleared for Speed Grapher outside of Japan at all.

Thats right. My copy has some lame ass song as the OP.
I only paid ten bucks for the whole series though. It's a decent watch. I never got completely to the end though.

I really wish there was a list of BR anime releases so I could keep track of which are upscaled or true HD. It doesn't matter a whole lot to me, but it would be nice to know.
There's that nice list of Japanese BR releases that are subbed in english, so why not a resolution one?
The forums at Mania.com is one good option (http://www.mania.com/aodvb/forumdisplay.php?f=19). I hope muhootsaver keeps posting there, even if he isn't going to continue with a blog dedicated to this kind of matters.

The analysis from RURIN are a valuable resource for many people, as well:

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
It's just English with less Anglo-Saxon words.

Much appreciated.
This looks somewhat like what I was looking for.
It's probably a lot of work to do this, which would explain why there isnt a master list.

I belive that Funimation also includes this information on their newer BD releases, due to lots of complaints when they first started releasing upscales. For example, on the back of the FLCL Blu-ray: "1080p High Definition 4x3 (SD Remaster)"

Obviously, it's not as good as a nicely compiled list, but it's at least something.

Because that phrase wasn't on the fragment translated from the interview itself. I haven't seen the original text, but looks like its part of the article's section title or subheading.

Yeah, that's what Funi is using to indicate that it's an upscale. The wording on true HD stuff is different.
From FMA Brotherhood:
1080p High Definition 16x9
HD Native

I'm sure they chose the wording carefully.

Even that is a lie, though. Brotherhood is 540p upscale to 1080p. :\ Okay, it's more of a half-truth.

We all know how easy it is to annoy very picky anime fans. I assume that's why they're being so specific.

I see it now, it's the text above:

It's almost like they realize the former tends to be a million times more interesting than the latter.

I aint picky at all. I just would like to know what I've actually got, and what I'm getting for what seems like increasingly dear prices. It's not really a lot to ask.

Good, the mail arrived; now I don't have to worry about it since I'll be gone for like 4 days.

The box is pretty nice and has an interesting texture that I wasn't expecting. Basically tiny diagonal grooves over the whole thing. Does that make it worth $400? No, probably not. It's clearly a different sort of thing from the boxes you would get with a typical R1 release, though.

There's also not really anywhere to put the translated booklet, everything fits in the box pretty snugly already. It would be nice if I didn't have to stick the booklet on the shelf next to the box.

I don't think they're like, legally bound, to explain the quality of the content on their BD, it's just nice of them to do so.

Im still conflicted. Really conflicted if I want this.
My consumer whore self REALLY wants it, but my logical side keeps fighting it.
Which one will win?

If it's only the cost and not the lack of translation that's an issue, you could rent the streaming version on Videx.

Interesting. I've never used this service, how does it work?
It uses Windows Media DRM to enforce a time limit on downloaded WMV files (2Mbps).
First ep of Sailor Moon is free, so use that to test things out.
I've used it a few times over the years; doesn't seem to have any territory restrictions on IP addresses or credit cards.
Looks like the Sailor Moon seasons are 3381, 3161, 2793, 2867, and 2499 yen respectively, so 14,701 to make it through all 200 episdes. (Actually, for some reason R is shown as being 2-43 instead of 1-43; not sure what's up with that.)
The viewing period per season rental is 40 days. (Or 5 episodes for 7 days for 336 yen, or 1 episode for 48 hours for 105 yen.)

You could have just done a translation for all of us
Basically, and apart from the information we already know (new original series, Mars kidnapping Athena and all that), Gō Wakabayashi just reiterates how they are going to use this story to show the role model that is Seiya (holder of the Sagittarius Gold Cloth) for the new generation of Bronze Saints.

Kōga will have to fight also against (or maintain on their own) the reputation that the Pegasus Cloth earned after the miracles done by Seiya itself (that even surpassed the deities that are the Gold Saints), and the notion that Pegasus means Seiya, a personal challenge for him.

To do that, they are keeping the same theme of sacrifice and friendship to make Kōga & friends achieve that goal, confronting their enemies in battles where only their combined efforts can make them victorious, a story where without compromise and the utmost of the efforts there isn't a reward. Mr. Wakabayashi says this is something not present enough as a theme on today's shows, and wants to achieve something like that again.
