The Black Lagoon and Hellsing Ultimate dubs are pretty good. I have heard good things about Bacanno.

Only 2 of these shows ended up being something great.

I'm tempted to double dip into Lagoon as I have the entire series (minus Roberta's Blood Trail) on DVD. Never liked Blood Trail either but if it was a good conversion on all 3 seasons, I'd bite.

Weird that they put that after the credits though since it was so long.

Oh, you've seen nothing yet XD

Higurashi 16

Things are starting to get interesting again. However, I am starting to get a bit tired of Satoko (I realize this might make me sound like a horrible person, but this is fiction, so whatever).

brb denying I ever knew you

Wide works with everything.

W...wide Chitoge?! This is strange and wrong...

On the one hand, hawt.

On the other hand, neither of those images capture the full extent of her cuteness. It's the complete absence of her civilian look, I think. I mean, far be it from me to complain about a pyjama look of all things, but Kate really is at her cutest in her standard red dress and adorable hairstyle, neither of which are represented here. Therefore I must give this an 8/10. Should've included civilian version instead of Veneira-sama version.

Still kinda lukewarm on this series but it does have its moments of brilliance. Guess I'll stick with it for now.

Log Horizon Episode 20:

Ship teasing, ship teasing everywhere. Well, save for Izusu and Rudy, if they are not an official couple now, I will be very disappointed. Anyway, what a grand calumniation to the arc, though I am disappointed that we didn't get more action scenes out of it. Still, to see all of the little world building details play in concert, that was pure magnificence. Indeed, a great magic has been created this day, the power to grant immortality to the people of the land, that is a gamechanger even among gamechangers and it is no wonder Shiore want this kept top secret. The implications of these new contract magic and truly profound and truly dangerous in the wrong hands. Seems like we will be getting one last arc before this season ends perhaps.

You're right on all fronts.
It's a couple , no question about it , even if the dominant party is not what it seems.

As for the rest , it's a #gamechanger among #gamechangers and this should set the tone for the future arcs.

And yeah , the last 5 episodes will be book 5 and it's also a different ride , but it's not less as entertaining as the ones before.
Do expect a lot of character develloppement.
Little trivia :
The xp rate for the people of the land is 12 times less than of adventurers and they have only one try since they die. Can you imagine the amount of battles and times it must have taken for rudy to reach lv 25+ ?

This is why we can't have good shoujo anime. :(

Is the "fujoshi" audience the same as the "shoujo" audience? I can only speak from experience in the 00s but the yaoi fangirls I knew/know generally didn't like shoujo because of the wishy washy female leads, or preferred the melodramatic angsty stories like X or Angel Sanctuary which were splashy either textually or subtextually. The appeal of boinking bishies is not the same as most shoujo.

It's unfortunate that most seemingly popular shoujo stories become Jdramas nowadays. I tried watching the Shitsuren Chocolatier drama but aside from the technically inaccurate food porn it seemed a bit silly, whereas I think in the more stylised world of anime it might have seemed less so.

Holy shit senketsu got me good with that troll at the beginning.

This series is seriously jacked up. I'm glad either it found its groove or I got more used to how nonsensical it is (especially about nudity) because I'm having a blast.

Still got uncomfortable setting satsuki feeling vulnerable though.

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha 5

I love this show so much. It has all of the things I like about shoujo, while being easily approachable for someone who isn't really into shoujo like me. Inari is really cute, and I kinda enjoy watching everyone sort out their insecurities. The drama is a bit thick, but they're fresh into high school, so the self-confidence issues Marutamachi, Inari, and Sumizone have are easy for me to sympathize with. The faith that Keiko and Marutamachi have in Inari is lovely, and they really give a good sense of how positively Inari interacts with others and why the people in the show gravitate to her. Also, I love the music in this show. The show isn't afraid to have scenes without music, but that's fine. It gives the scenes with music more dramatic emphasis (which was all the music was used for anyway lol).

Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha 5

Yeeeeeeeah, I knew
turning into Keiko there
was a bad idea. The potential for awkwardness and misunderstandings was immense, should've just gone and helped her out without resorting to such measures ~.~ Silly Inari never considering consequences.

I think something we should keep in mind is that Inari doesn't have much self-confidence either. Inari is definitely impulsive, but she uses her powers to sort out issues because she probably doesn't feel like she can do it herself. In this case though, I don't know if Inari could've done anything anyway lol. Maybe she could've called Keiko before going there herself or something.

GaoGaiGar - 21

Hana as a sumo wrestler - #dead.

The Zonders are getting more and more ruthless. Now they're screwing around with gravity. I was legit wondering how they were gonna get out of this one since they had pretty much been crippled.

But now
we got a new robot ally, and GaoGaiGar's Hell and Heaven got a hammer upgrade that prevents recoil damage. Nice. But I'm sure the Four Machine Kings are definitely going to find a way around it though, cause if it's one thing these guys aren't, it's incompetent.

About two weeks ago I asked of Neogaf for an anime recommendation the met only one condition, because of my frustration with Valverave:

I was suggested Stein's;Gate by a few, and recently finished it with my friend. Here comes my long winded write-up. apologies for the wall of black text---I haven't watched the OVA or movie, so it is all just about the anime.

Steins;Gate
Amazing show! Thank you for those who recommended, as I love the Hell out of it. There were definitely a few negatives to the show, but they were easily outweighed by the positives. Just to toss a few of my favorite/least favorite moments out there in no particular order:
1) I hated Mayuri dying over and over again. The concept has been done a billion times over, and it wasn't well-done in Steins;Gate. The second time we see her die, it's because someone trips and she gets pushed in front of a train. Really? We JUST saw Okabe holding her hand a split second before...but apparently he is too weak to stop her from getting a tiny bump, which catapulted her ass out in front of the train. You know what I would've liked to see? Go back, repeat that moment, and this time DON'T LET GO OF HER HAND! I know I'm being nit picky, but I needed to be sold a bit better that her death was inevitable.

2) I got absolute chills when the gang read Suzuha's note. "I failed. I failed. I failed. I failed". That moment was a complete 180 from the positive emotion of the rest of that episode. It was soul crushing, and by far one of my favorite episodes/moments in an anime.

3) I was pissed in the next-to-final episode when Okabe stabbed Kurisu. I told myself, "My god, now THAT is cliché" and I wanted to break something. For such a smart show to ruin it in the end. But then I remembered that from the show's point of view, just because we see Okabe stab her doesn't mean Okabe was the one who originally stabbed her. In fact, it couldn't have been---right? It was simply that she was "fated" to die, and because he was there the pieces simply fell in place for him to be the one to stab her on that occasion. But the stabbing that setup the show was still her father. Right?

4) I wish I liked Mayuri more. She was not a bad character by any means. In fact, she shared another favorite moment of mine when Okabe hugs her at the cemetery and "kidnaps" her. But something about her personality stopped me from completely investing myself in the headache Okabe was putting himself through to save her. I found myself much more interested in Kurisu's safety.

5) Why did it take Okabe so long to put the pieces together that Moeka was the one that took the IBN 5100? It seemed obvious before the message was sent what was about to happen, and immediately after I told myself, "The computer is gone". And yet Okabe didn't even notice THAT for what seemed like ages. Really? This genius didn't notice a freakin' big clunkin' computer missing from his floor?

6) And why did Okabe, who is a smart guy, keep letting people send D-Mails? He isn't a moron. He recognized how the world was changing with each one sent. How could he not understand the ramifications until it was too late? I kind of wanted to be sold on that a bit more.

In the end, this was a damn smart show. With damn great characters. And writing. And characters. I loved it. Thanks, Gaf.

It does have some plotholes. In this case,
Mayuri was just fated to die in that timeline no matter what. Including Okabe inexplicably letting her go. It was just fate. Also that was definitely a hard hitting episode. Suzuha was so distraught about it she died in that timeline much like Shining finger killed herself after her own failure. However whenv Kurisu was stabbed accidentally by Okabe it was just fate showing that she was supposed to die no matter what again. Yes her father originally stabbed her because of the documents on time travel and she didnt want him to take them. The metal oompah comes into play in the most clever way in the story by preventing the fire and later allowing it to happen. I was pretty impressed with that. The missing computer not being immediately obvious is a detail that many could realistically miss if they werent thinking about it. Our brain tends to filter out background information if it isnt deemed important at the time of observation. Okabe's brain merely tricked him
Damn I love Steins Gate so much lol.

Wide works with everything.

Ume and her creations are the universes way of saying it loves us.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
I know its an old movie but don't want to spoil the ride for anyone who might not have seen it yet.
Obligatory:
ma099.png

I suppose that scene is a way of telling or rather warning the viewer he's in for quite a ride.

-But seriously Jesus Christ Shinji What the FUCK ?! I knew he had problems but didn't think it was of that kind too. Seriously you're like 14 or something, keep it in your fucking pants.

-So humanity is the xth Angel ? Wut ?

-I thought that the TV series was a bit disappointing with its mecha action but Asuka going ham was beautifully animated and just very satisfying to watch.

-Wait, if Seele had those EVA's all along why didn't they use them earlier when they were in a pinch ?

-Damn Shinji was useless throughout the movie.

-The whole second half of the movie may very well be the trippiest shit I've ever witnessed. At some point of that audio-visual rollercaster with all those flashing images I genuinely thought I'm going to puke. Managed to hold it in thankfully.

-Gendo went out like a bitch. Not sure what was the difference between his plan and Seele's. At the end both seemed satisfied with the results.

-Dead Sea Scrolls still not explained. Grrrrrrrr

The last sequence threw me out of a loop. Did Asuka sprouted an eyepatch ? And just when I thought that our likable and totally understandable protagonist finally resolved his issues, he decides to strangle the former.

...

Way to go Shinji-kun, way to go.

I will have to watch the movie again because I still barely have a clue about the whole Adam, Lilith, Angels business.

memories~

This is why we can't have good shoujo anime. :(

No actually this is exactly why we CAN.

Goddess-Ume.

Nothing less.

There might have been some tears at this point in the episode...

Oh, you've seen nothing yet XD

Best after credits sequence ever.

What a great show. Really funny and cute. Only 1 episode that was less good than the others, the rest were excellent. All the characters were good too, but there was nobody that really stood out as the best one. Others might disagree, but that's not a positive thing for me.

Anyway... Since it was so funny and great I give it 4.5/5 excited Shinos:

I, what, you- OH COME ON.

This guy didn't even hate anything! He was just walking out of a war plane simulation! That alone immediately qualifies for Zonder status? There was absolutely no negativity from this guy whatsoever!

I saw a mech..

yiss.

Surely this is the mecha title the A-1 President said he wanted to challenge Gundam with.

Rivera: What's the strongest combination?

Ueda: We formed the strongest party around with Aniplex and A-1 Pictures.

Rivera: What's the next stage?

Ueda: The next stage of our development is to make something that would supersede Gundam. I think we need digital technology to achieve that. At A-1 we've experimented with a couple of 3D animation technologies. Let's take a look at a couple of those.

Rivera: These are original clips.

[Clips of 3D objects and action scenes are shown]

Ueda: Thank you. 3D needs to be prominent but the most important thing is a good story and plot. I hope we'll be able to show our new original robot animation as soon as possible. Please look forward to it.

Tragic victim of fan death
I am not worthy for this new mecha. I hope it doesn't suck. Well.... I guess I can still go watch gundam build fighters.

If this new tech of CG or something still look like dog shit, all hope is lost.

The major hurdle with 3DCG is making things appear to have enough weight and solidity as opposed to being floaty papier maché . Things get even more complicated when you have to make 2d and 3d elements play nice with each other. It's so easy for it to become really awkard. That said, I have no idea what kind of new technology they are working with, and I'm not well versed in what sort of pipeline animation studios have (unlike a full 3d feature film where you can just run through your render targets all the time, having to work with 2d drawing segments makes things more complicated I imagine), so it's hard to tell what it could be.

Bye bye Eris, you won't be missed.

Episode 24 surprisingly ends on a rather decent cliffhanger. Yea sure, the fact that there are like, 3 or 4 other seasons does make it clear that Lina survives that massive wound, but I'm interesting in the answer to how?

There weren't that many screen-grab moments this episode! However, there was some nice backstory and mystery, although I hope
it's not heading into Fruit Baskets territory
