Clannad After Story 8

Basically my thoughts throughout the episode.

"LMAO Oh my goodness that just happened! I can't breathe!! Lol!!" -> "Wow. This is pretty awesome." -> "The feels!!! Try and hold back the tears!!! It's not working! Why do they have to play this music at this point? It's beautiful!!! Teh FEELS!!!"

… Yeah no. Kagari wasn't possessed or anything. Why are you forgiving her for the years upon years of abuse Yomi? Why? GAAAAH.

You know, can we go back to the symbolic yet confusing fight scenes in nightmare fuel funland? Those are at least pretty to look at most of the time.

… I don't like that deadness in your eyes Yomi. Please, please tell me you aren't going to do something stupid like be as possessive as Kagari was with you.

See, because I have to assume the worst with this show, I'm interpreting that smile as a very bad thing.

Goddamit.

… Posting a love letter on a bulletin board is just... it's such a dick move. But I'll give Kohachi points. She kept it together at least in front of everyone.

And... wow that counselor. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH HER.

And again I must ask: WTF was that ending?

So much substance and truth.

Some really great background art in this.

That was pretty nice. Almost feels like a Sato Jun show. It's interesting how every anime I've seen set in the countryside has combined classes; I wonder if that's one of the effects of Japan's shrinking population. Also, that poor guy who gets completely ignored even by his sisters.

This penguin is a pimp

The story in the story is a story from the story with the story.
So apparently any story that... hangs out around this town comes to life? Or something.

For those curious as to how shows can gain traction around here, a statement like the above can go a long way in catching attention of someone like myself that's just glossed over it until now.

This show... is good. I especially like the somber, atmospheric music and the light colors. Character art is above average, too.

The season of comedy continues.

That was the first comment that made me say "Perhaps I should watch this."

It's like a character design science experiment gone horribly wrong.

Though i just randomly find the picture from google,so nothing to do with anime(well, anime maybe worse since it's Gonzo)

Clannad After Story 9

They should've just named this episode "Let the tears begin". ;_;

Maybe I am more sensitive than I thought but man Kyoto Animation is just great in their visual art and mixing it with the music it's just so good. Although the ending music always seems inappropriate for what the show is trying to convey so when I see "To be Continued" I embrace myself for that ending theme. This is literally the only fault I can find for this anime people! It's that good!!

And the music! This freakin music!

It's been 3 minutes in SKET Dance and I've already heard Gintoki and I believe Shinpachi's voice.

This is why you don't restore Hatsune Miku from the Recycle Bin.

And by god, this thread moves fast.

Not seeing any problems there. Designs that are just a whole lot of stuff are awesome!

Is this a sequel to another show? I'm interested, but it wasn't a great first episode because of how it abruptly begins with a space battle.

Starts in media res with stuff being filled out appropriately as you go along.

Same. I'm suddenly interested because of the background art and SatoJun comparisons where before I've never given Non Non Biyori a second glance; many episode impressions have basically boiled down to "Ren-chon is so moe. NYANPASSU" and that's just not persuasive to me. Of course, I'm not saying that anyone under any circumstance should ever feel an obligation to design episode impressions around selling other people on a show. I'm just echoing Narag's remark on how the same show can be sold to two different types of viewer depending on what aspects are emphasized in an episode impression.

Now just think about how that's going to look adapted for a low-budget television anime.

You're missing "half of a red cocktail dress" and "tiny pointy tail"

How to piss off Film-GAF.

Honestly, had a hard time finding an image for this episode. Nothing really stood out for me.

I remember someone (firehawk?) commenting that episode one is a bit of an outlier and the rest of the run is more slapstick.

I was waiting for Cecil to have a case involving someone who was clearly and unrepentantly guilty but to have them approach the subject so lazily, in an incredibly ugly and boring looking episode at that, really doesn't make me want to watch another minute of this series.

fuckin' umetsu, bon.

Space Battleship Yamato - 02

The story has already started to make a lot more sense. The demon-aliens' motivations to destroy earth is still a mystery (Or is it as simple as wanting to colonize the planet for themselves? There's 8 other planets in our solar system and billions of solar systems in our galaxy to serve that purpose...) Regardless, this was a solid episode and from what I've seen so far characterization will be a strong focus of this show.

Quick data burst from something for the series that had first volumes go on sale last week:

17,252 -- Kuroko no Basuke S2 [BD+DVD]
9,701 -- Little Busters! Refrain [BD+DVD]
5,583 -- Strike the Blood [BD+DVD]

Log Horizon sells 721 DVD and some number of BDs below the 3,137 threshold, though estimates have it close to 3k. Then again, as an NHK-E show, it's not like disc sales matter as much.

I haven't been posting impressions for whatever reason, but I really like this show. This episode was really sweet and also a little sad.
Flying! Piano! Old man! Nodame somehow being a master hypnotist! Crabs!
Woo!

Hm, Kuroko S2 sold less than S1. Though, I guess that's expected for some reason. Can't remember if the first one had any mystical event tickets.

No surprises about Log Horizon. ~_~
