Log Horizon 19

Holy fuck was this episode good! Crusty being a complete badass. Shiroe being a master tactician. Minori following in his footsteps. Rudy also being a badass! Just too good!

Yeah im just saying anime fans saw Rider as a sexy woman first so its not weird.

For me it won't be weird since I played the VN before F/Z. But for my friends it'll be weird. For all four of us it'll be disappointing since the character designs in Fate Zero are so great and in Fate Stay Night the coolest character design is Berserker, and he's nowhere near as cool as F/Z's berserker.

So we have (I'm going to spoiler this just in case people don't want to know who is who)

Saber: Stand-out enough design but she's a staple of the show and in F/Z

Rider: Sexy woman in skimpy outfit. Compared to manly beard bro? Fail.

Assassin: We have a generic looking samurai vs a cool clan of african skull wearing ninjas. yyyyyyyyyyeah gotta give it to Fate Zero again for originality.

Caster: We have an ojou-sama with a hood vs a crazy chameleon eyed wizard with cthulu powers. Again Fate Zero is preferable here, but depends on what you look for I guess. Originality goes to FZ though.

Lancer: This one is debatable since F/Z's Lancer didn't have that unique of a design, so FSN's lancer might do just fine. F/Z's backstory and effect on the story was bigger though, but I guess FSN's Lancer turns into a bro in one of the routes.

Berserker: Gotta give it to FZ's mainly because how many times do you see a 3d bulky knight with black smoke all around him? Not many times. Hercules is cool but he looks like a muscled brute

Archer: I actually like FSN's Archer, and we get the added bonus that we don't have to sacrifice the ridiculously great character of Gilgamesh either so it's all good.

I don't even want to go over the variety of the other characters in FZ vs the ones from FSN. In FSN we have like three/four high school kids, two teachers, a loli and a certain character that had a bigger role in FZ. So basically 7/8 non-heroes can be found in high school comedies/harems. And I really do hope they get rid of the harem/comedy aspect of the show. Which means getting rid of Taiga.

Yes, Nasu's opinions on how they're different things is well known. It's totally true too, from a writing perspective. That doesn't change the fact that the actual director makes it pretty clear that the anime is in fact a followup to the Fate/Zero anime. I think the way they're approaching it is commendable, but it's probably not going to be a very good story regardless. Can't really polish shit, just like most of the Garden of Sinners stuff.

The angle Miura is going for is that F/SN builds on the characters and themes from F/Z, and Shiro as a "hero of justice" is a continuation of everything F/Z was about. He intends to keep the comedy elements in F/SN because they're part of what makes F/SN what it is, but on a whole they want to make a more serious sort of series.

I think realistically, it's probably going to start with the Fate route, because there's no other way to actually introduce the characters and setting properly, and they'll probably throw in the Lancer stuff from UBW just for the F/Z call back, and the climax will probably be some variation of HF, because you can't conclude the story which started in F/Z without ending it with -that- fight. Like I said before, Ufotable is actually a studio which panders to whatever the core fanbase really wants, as long as it's reasonable, and a mashup like that is the easiest way to give people what they want while also telling a single coherent story without the confusion of alternate "routes".

To me, it's kind of like... a betrayal of how things were set up in the first family, in where they seem rather dysfunctional, but here, it's family as fuck, showing us that they're not actually dysfunctional, but they all care for each other.

I can see that actually. In that in the first episode you see them as dysfunctional with the Mum arguing with the Dad over all his fishing trips and Doremi and Pop arguing over everything but then in reality they all get along really well despite their differences. In a lesser case it's a bit like The Simpsons in how they too are a dysfunctional family but at times they do care for each other
although in recent seasons this isn't touched upon as often or even at all.

Dat Zone.

The game may have been sub-par in some areas, but the ending was completely satisfying.

I especially liked how well they adapted
Aomine's distraught face
.

Can't wait for next week with the introduction of Alex.

Maturity, bitches.
If a girl only reveals herself in her full glory to the one she loves most on the whole world does that mean that porn stars love everyone?

Even though I find the notion kind of dumb, I liked Saber's waifu story the best, but Heaven's Feel ending was the best one. So maybe combine those two? Make it a sad ending as well. Make Shirou die after he trips on a rock and breaks his skull on the sidewalk. All because he was trying to be a hero.

Best ending. Wait but that's not a sad ending. For a sad ending do the UBW ending, because that's sad in the sense of the writer not caring anymore.

Can't get experience points without some sort of victory. That's why Cure Lovely joining the party is vital.
So happy hapiness charge doesn't give xp point for defeat like those stupid final fantasy tactics games.
I prefer the ZHP / GFP model of suffering untill you can finally walk without being scared and
lose painfully because you were over confident.
So another of Kawahara's series that he previously wrote as a web novel is getting published by Dengeki Bunko, starting this summer.

Lol 4 Series at once , including 1 that is a total retcon of another
SAO:p
, 1 he has to adapt to the current times
AS
, 1 were he has no idea of to do the finale of his arc
SAO
and 1 that keep getting ridiculous by each new book
AW
.

Magnificent , will read.

The only thing fate/sn fans care about in the end is who wins the waifu war, anyways.

But the ranking pools places saber as the winner ....

バレ is so easy to make puns out of. To say nothing of turning everything into an ancient Mayan game. Loved the ending set piece. Feels like classic rubber suit mechanics.

Samurai Flameco - Episode 16

This is what I've been waiting for. It's nice to see the characters we actually care about finally being part of the show again, and how the story is somewhat coming full circle. It's still unclear where the show will ultimately go, but it's good to know the relationships between the characters built up throughout the series do mean something. The production values are getting really unfortunate though. It's so ugly now that whenever there's actually SOME half decent animation I'm actually surprised.

The new OP is an embarrassment. They should not air it in this state. I can't believe they had about two whole months to work on this OP and all we get now is some barely half finished bunch of stills and tacky motion graphics. It's not even stylish. The stills aren't even well drawn. Jeez. Manglobe is really dead artwise.

It's certainly the ugliest series I watch on a regular basis. It's almost hard to believe how poor it looks at this point. The OP is absolutely horrifying.

Yeah I think Saber's character arc will get the waifu ending. But the final HF fight needs to happen. It has to be animated. I don't even like F/SN and I want to see it animated!

[Log Horizon] really seems to be one of those works that a number of people steered away from, for perhaps obvious reasons, but seems to have ended up being pretty good in it's own right. Does this mean I'm going to go back and check it out? Of course not, I'm far too busy not watching anime.

Man the music transistion on
Kagami's pass to Kiyoshi was good.
I thought the match went on longer than I thought but great to see the result.

Next week we get Alex.

Which final battle are we speaking of exactly?
the hand to hand combat?

Cause if so I guess it'd be a great way to bring it back full circle after the kiritsugu one in FZ

Yeah, Shiro vs Kirei. It's basically the ONLY way F/SN can end satisfyingly as a production billed as "from the Fate/Zero team". That's how I see it.

At this point, would it be possible to call it one of the ugliest shows ever made?

No, thankfully, not quite that bad but for a once talented studio like Manglobe to be, within a decade, producing something which looks as bad as Flamenco is fairly worrying. The amount of sloppy off model work is really reminiscent of something from the early 90's.

Something had to balance out Hatakeyama bringing good visuals back to DEEN.

Recently i'm watching this really stale and average sister show - 06

Asking the right questions

But not finiding the right answers.

It's kinda impressive how much brainstorming that must have happenned to find the most stupid way to interpret this situation...
I'm not hatewatching i'm kinda amazed just how low this show gonna be ..

The metal gear solid part was pretty much spot-on , especially on the animation , the only thing missing was the gameover screen.

I don't know what to say, really. This is still a really fun rom-com that hasn't noticeably started to suck - yet. If one of the side characters (who are always the best character in these scenarios [and they're always the best characters in these rom-coms because the main characters never seem to be able progress the romance without their intervention and so we, as the audience, enjoy seeing them move the story because we're bored of stagnation] for good reason), Ruri, was in charge of the story then this show would be over in 11 episodes, or maybe even 6.

I don't agree that this is particularly 'Shaft' either. Apart from their obviously shitty Shaft backgrounds and the lighting there isn't much of trade of the "Shinbo-style", it's all pretty restrained compared to their usual fare. Which isn't to say that we don't get some extreme angles (bird's eye view shots, super low angle closeups etc) but most of the direction is in the service of the comedy and it's actually pretty effective. I like it.

Oh, yes, and of course there's lots of fanservice.

Fairly enjoyable mainly for Shu and Ruri. The other 3 characters are still oblivious as hell

Onodera and Raku deserve each other, they're both staggeringly thick. I would watch a show about Ruri just being a rad wingman. Wingwoman. Whatever.

Are there any shows where the protagonist isn't the romantic focus and instead provides a wingman/matchmaker role for their firned?

That's not how a protagonist roles!

Inari Konkon Koi Iroha in a way. While the protagonist also has her romance story, the romance that matters, takes a big focus and is a fan favorite (Uka x Touka) is partially her helping out.

But specifically what you're looking for I can't think of that as usually the main person has a romance as well.

It's kind of amazing to look at where the anime is compared to where the manga is. The amount of progress in the former compared to the complete lack of progress in the latter is pretty crazy.

Yeah. I mean, it makes sense since the role of a protagonist is generally to be the center of the story, but it could be interesting!

You should be well aware that kind of interesting/different stuff doesn't really happen in anime. The protagonist kind of has to be a self-insert male who is basically a good guy but has some trouble with girls and needs help to 'win'. You're ruining the whole self-insert angle by making the protagonist so competent in the field of human relationships that he can assist others. That's just not realistic!

Inukami kind of. Well, not exactly because main dude has his own romantic interest, but there's another character who is pretty much a harem protagonist (until main dude starts stealing people from that harem).
