Man, I felt pissed off as that whole last scene played out. It was weird because I had a feeling I knew how it was going to all play out from the start anyways.
Happiness and trust to conflict, betrayal, trust issues, etc. Just watching wedges be driven between them.

Didn't see it coming. That made me smirk. Glad I paid attention in the beginning to see how they turned that around. The payoff felt good.

Either that or he went full vampire. IIRC, Shinobu mentions that with more of her full power, she could do something as easy as making her reflection appear despite being a vampire.

The plot for this sounds like some fighting game, actually I couldn't make sense of the back story. whatever they just fight and they fights are good. This was really good and fun. Will watch.

The series really picks up in the second half, and then A's is basically god tier from beginning to end, upping the ante to a level you have not even begun to witness yet.

This certainly didn't turn out to be the lewd, ecchi-fest I was expecting it to turn out to be. Honestly I was gonna skip it. But I decided to as least give it a chance first and what do ya know, I enjoyed it. Yea sure there's the playing around with Maria being a virgin and her ignorance around the matter of sexual relations and Martha her succubus familiar making sexual jokes, but you kinda expect that out of her so none of it ever felt out of place. Production values were certainly top notch though and the fight that took place between the two sides was very nicely done.

All and all great first episode. Will continue with this!


Oh and happy b-day BGBW.

MY friend swears by thuis series. Its one of his favorites. Back when I first watched it it was being heavily marketed as an answer to Evangelion but never quite met those expectations. Myself I only watched a handful of episodes before moving on, since mecha was really not my thing, but Im willing to give it another go at some point. I have better appreciation for mecha shows now. I think what initially soured me on them was watching Gasaraki and it was one of the most mind numbing experiences I have encountered in anime.

Selling it as a standalone product could be an option as well, you know! But well, this solution of having to send first a postcard with your proof of purchase attached to it for those really interested on obtaining the digital disc in exchange is a decent one after all (although it was a disc initially included in the actual BD-BOX!), if we take into account how the 'ASKA incident' nearly made this MV disappear completely from the WDSHE Japan catalogue. Pretty sad how for some such a irrelevant event could ever diminish the value of a work like this by doing a simply reductionist tainted association.

I love the setting, middle ages. Witches, war and magic. Most of the jokes worked well, like the succubus saying her jaw hurts due to overuse, and Maria trying to set the impression of classic old and dark Witches.
I don't feel like any character clicked with me so far but that Galfa guy who acted cool with the insecure guys in the army. That's something I also liked, them showing people being scared as hell to go in to war and during battle. The summoning of the dragon from the kettle was neat.
Overall I enjoyed it and I'll give it the usual ~3 episode rule.

It's less of a mech show and more of a romantic drama. The mecha design is awesome, and it does contain some pivotal moments that surround the mech but like I said in my recap, the highlight is the art, music and characters. The music is really good, the art and everything regrading the visuals are really compelling. That goes for character designs, mech design, mechanical design in general and just the art-style and detail in the environments and such. Finally the way in which the characters interact with each other and their mannerisms and such make for a compelling show that keeps you interested regardless of your feelings towards mecha. It can feel like there's too much mumbo jumbo at first, but it calms down really quickly and just focuses on the characters.

I haven't seen Gasaraki, never heard of it until now but I may give it a go down the line. Calling it mind numbing has me intrigued, I love slow, text heavy shows and hell even text-less shows! Luckily for you RahXephon is neither :) Good mix of everything, genuine laughs, and genuine tears. But like anything of this nature, expect a lot of red herrings and deeper meanings that won't make sense until you finish, with many becoming more clear after repeat viewings.

Maria is super adorable and she has a great dynamic with her succubus.
But the cast seems likeable overall. So, as long as the show avoids the obvious rapey themes, I can really see myself enjoying this.
