Good choices. I always liked the other Samurai Champloo one, as well as a lot of the GiTS:SAC ones.

Same exact crew is working on Toonami current, though! I don't catch it every weekend, but I try to stay abreast with all their bumps, promos or whatever. They're pretty great, too.

For those of us who jokingly made the call that someone out there would take this and run with it in a doujin... just wanted to let you know we were right. That is all.
Mindset has now officially hit that of a doujin artist. How much lower can we sink?

edit:
Oh and thank you for the late birthday wishes even if I was trying to not make a fuss.

edit2: And I realise I come off as a hypocrite because I didn't properly wish Mad a happy birthday. That niconico link was a bit hidden I must confess.

As if Big O wasn't cool enough. Having Toonami cut a trailer with Peter Cullen is awesome overload. You could always tell how much care was put into promoting anything Gundam. Jason DeMarco, the sort of creative lead behind Toonami and ASA, is a huge Gundam fan.
Oh man, that other Champloo promo is nostagia overload. That song is San Francisco - Midicronica, which was only used once in the show as the ED in the final episode but in the promos long before the finale ever aired here.

I think I'm going to be up watching old adult swim bumps on youtube for the rest of the night now. I associate stuff like this so strongly with watching Fullmetal Alchemist for the first time as a teenager.
Hah! You would not believe how many times I've done this. Actually, my biggest nostalgia hits from Adult Swim Action are all Inuyasha, for whatever reason.

These, specifically:

Staying up so late watching it on the couch that I just fall asleep there. Usually with one of my brothers. Such great memories.

The Light of El Cantare
Love Live! Knee Blush Project 02:

Because you can't be sure that these are pichi pichi ripe adolescent girls unless every vulnerable spot on their bodies radiates sexual warmth.

Basically, this continues to be inoffensively dumb. I wish I knew why I'm not actively hating this as much as I was expecting to even though I clearly recognize its inherent awfulness as an idol show. I guess it's because it's just CGDCT shit more than it's directly dealing with idol culture for the time being, although that's bound to change. There was, at least, one exceptionally awful exchange that bears relaying:

The protagonist is attempting to get another girl to join the school idol group because she's a talented singer and musician, but the girl being courted refuses to join because, in her opinion, idol music is empty and stupid and she prefers real genres like jazz and classical. Protag-chan's comeback? "BUT IDOLS WORK HARD. THEY HAVE TO SMILE AND DANCE AT THE SAME TIME, AND THAT'S REALLY REALLY HARD. THEIR MUSIC ISN'T SHALLOW MANUFACTURED HORSESHIT BECAUSE GANBARE SPIRIT."

Musician-chan is deredere by the end of the episode and performing idol shit on the internet to get publicity for the group.

Considering the reasons I watch this kind of stuff to begin with, I guess that's "promise".

Also, SDBurton, why aren't you watching this yet?

How does the anime industry still exists with such high prices and low sales?

sell at $15 -> people buy 12k copies
sell at $35 -> people buy 11k copies
sell at $80 -> people buy 10k copies

there's a limited market that wants to act as patrons, and they want to act as patrons up to about eight thousand yen. below that, price cuts just hurt margin. the guys who just want to watch wait for the constant reruns of anything popular and ignore DVDs.

A bit of an issue as demand for physical media slips away.

Most of them don't buy it for the media.

Basically this. It could sell at the same price for a download code for 50mbit MPEG-4; tchotchkes > the feeling of giving money to the staff > an actual disc of the video.

I don't think I've even opened the majority of my R2s, and a lot of my R2 buying was to get DVD raws for fansubs. Someone who didn't need to rip to an anonymous server in the Netherlands is even less likely to have popped the shrinkwrap.

Basically the only thing keeping me going at this point is SDBurton-strength yuri goggles. At least this episode proved that the show can get away with not ending a story in a dance routine if it wants to and is almost certainly better for it.

Also, SDBurton, why aren't you watching this yet?

"promise" indeed. :p
So how does it rank to the other idol shows?

And stop tricking SDBurton into watch shows with fake yuri. I know he likes it anyway he can get it, but I'm starting to feel sorry for him. lol

And "tricking SDBurton" is a pretty terrible way to characterize what's going on here! I just want him to be able to get his fix. It's just one of the many services I provide as taste-tester.

Code: Breaker Episode 2

Another alright episode. The transition between the high school antics and serious drama wasn't quite so jarring this time, owed mostly to the fact that the tone was kept fairly consistent between the two halves, owed mostly to Ogami. And the episode takes great pains to demonstrate that he is very far from a good person. He
tried to kill Sakura
, like, twice this episode. Not to mention that whole bit where he
starts raining broken glass on everyone
. At least the dude doesn't approve of kicking dogs. Either way, the message is pretty clear - this guy is despicable.

We start to get introduced to whoever the red-haired guy is. Who has some sort of cat fetish. Or something. He's a bit weird. He's evidently another
Code: Breaker[/spoiler (I'm not even sure if this even counts as a spoiler) though.

The direction is confident, if not spectacular. And the production quality is very consistent, although, again, doesn't stand out that much. That might be being a little unfair to the show, though. Everything starts to look less good after an episode of Hyouka.

And as with the former episode, it was the last few minutes of it that were definitely the most interesting. Seems like things are finally starting to accelerate, at least.

I began suspecting as much regarding Sakura's 'rare' power about the time Ogami tries to burn her a second time.

Gonna keep plowing through this. Bouncing between this and Tsuritama is a pretty good way to go about watching anime, I think. Very different atmospheres.

EDIT: The fate of Shin Sekai Yori is a sad one. I would have hoped for some level of success, at least. This is just gonna scare more people away from risk-taking concepts. :(

Granted, I don't think I liked Idolm@ster as much as most people here and I'm pretty cynical when it comes to idol culture so I prefer seeing it taken to stupid extremes in order to magnify said stupidity. Im@s is the least-unrealistic so I have to dock it points in the ranking in spite of it being well-produced and, I suppose, generally legit good.

But if we're just talking about this season, get back to me in a couple of weeks because I haven't started AKB0048 Second Stage yet!
