Living in the shadow of Amaz
melon bread?
Of course.
This can also apply to the first season of Zero no tsukaima.

Or nagi in hayate no gotoku

I dunno, while she's better than say, Kirino, Taiga still gets on my nerves a bit. I only give her a pass because her dere comes out a little bit more and she's not some unbelievable supermodel/track-star/gaming prodigy bs.

Yep , kirino is a clear no. She doesn't do much to ensure that i care about her well being and she has the "favor of the gods" way too many times.

Shin Sekai Yori - 19

That was tense, this show nails in when it comes to atmosphere and tension, and hopefully more will be revealed next episode.

Jojo - 18

I never thought I'd see the day when a
Nazi Terminator
would exist.

Chihayafuru - 05

It was said alot during season 1, but the energy and tension put into what is at the end of the day a boring sport makes it a treat to watch.

Go boobie girl GO!

Cuticle Tantei Inaba - 06

Did they just try to use forshadowing and some plot devices ? in my comedy anime ?

Cuticle%20Tantei%20Inaba%20-%2006.jpg

Oh really ?

Overall nice episode. i'm looking forward to see how they will use those new elements for more comedy.

Ps: the daughter of the inspector must come back at some point

I'm so disappointed about the Penguindrum issues. I know it will be too much to hope for a different localisation when Kaze eventually release them in the UK, but I suppose I can hope (in vain) for a better mastering.

I have gripes with what Kaze has been releasing in Italy, but at least on the video quality part they usually deliver, and if it'll be anything like the edition Dynit put out in Italy, it should be fine.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) 18
Robo Stroheim! HELL YEAH!

One thing I really don't get about [JoJo's Bizarre Adventure] - 18 is that they
name the episode 'Stroheim's counter-attack' and then whenever Stroheim appears they hide his face as if it's some big mystery. Weird directorial choice.
I don't think the surprise really was
Stronheim's return, though I guess the title was spoilery in on itself, what they were trying to hide was the fact that Stroheim is now a cyborb, hence they hid his face. Even with his face hidden they still hinted heavily on who he was. Which kinda built hype for that last shot when we get a confirmation of his reborn nature. (even that is telegraphed in advance, not visually as much as aurally seeing as we can hear his mechanised walking.)

I adore this so much. Especially that third screen where everything goes black except for Dangaioh's eyes, the Dangaibeam, and its reflection off the facemask.. The mostly still shot is made that much more dynamic by doing so.

Pretty decent except for the 11 minute recap. That put this at about a normal episode's 24 minute runtime and realize the first was basically a double ep. It's also a stark reminder I never had much Obari mecha stuff in my life. Here, have a Masami Obari MAD for your troubles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJyYlic8Pto

Dangaioh has a special place in my heart for its great mechs animation. Cross Fight!!

Chihayafuru 2 05

Incredible. The tension, the atmosphere. Nothing but pride at stake here but damn, the music was topnotch and you could feel every bead of sweat.

Maou Yuusha 06

Decent. One of my favourite bits in the manga and it came out pretty well here. The show is pretty good when the focus isn't on Hero-Crimson relationship. The warfare was decent but the foreshadowing of the fire arrows seemed purposeless since I didn't see them being used. Crimson Scholar is traitor of the highest order though, even if her aims are correct.

I know that I've watched a fair few mecha shows in my time but I still struggle to get into most of them, especially the stuff that's more 'monster of the week'. Which is a pity, really, because the 80's produced oodles of it.

Watching this, I guess it should be no surprise he was responsible for the best part of Mazinkaiser which makes it oddly topical.

Remember when Masami Obari did kick ass mech shows rather than porn? Those were good days...

He probably enjoys being paid in money rather than ramen like Imagawa. Also he directed SRW OG: The Inspector not too long ago which was awesome but very much SRW fanservice.

Worst abuse of a Mobile suit ever? Bubbles. and it seems NTR'd girl won't be going down without a fight. Another Queen Soreil character development episode. It's like I said last night the show seems to focus on her for the most part which is why her character seems to be the most developed by far as of now. NTR girl really is a bitch.
Seems you aren't challenging her enough! Have her do all the tough work!

This is true. I wasn't aware he directed SRW OG: The Inspector though, nice to see him getting non-porn work.

Magical girls fighting giant fucking robots. Why isn't this a more common thing?

Maybe it's just me speaking after the godawful Dokidoki opener and the underwhelming Futari wa introduction, but this was amazing. It looked derpy at times (and the op song is shite), but it had all the energy I had come to expect from Heartcatch and Smile. Love is a proto-Mana without all the stupid "hurrdurr I'm the perfect student council president" thing going on. Miki is into boys, and Buki is totally fucking adorable. Plus the costume designs have just the right amount of frills combined with zettai ryouiki. I am in love with this show already.

P.S. The ED song is good, but the CGI is :wonzo.
P.P.S. Who the fuck goes to a concert and listens while sitting down?

That ep always reminds me of this image and vice versa:

They announced a bunch of news for Gargantia after the screening today too. There are more cast announcements, a new region blocked PV on the site (THANKS JAPAN!), and OP/ED announcements.

OP: この世界は僕らを待っていた (This world was waiting for me) by Minori Chihara
ED: 空とキミのメッセージ (Message from you and the sky) by Choucho

Revolutionary Girl Utena 9

So after two viewings of this episode, I'm not quite sure how much closer I am to understanding what exactly is going on with this show. I'll spare the long, drawn out summary and instead ask questions and maybe pose theories that will probably have Regulus and Hitokage bashing their heads against their desks going "You. Stupid. Motherfucker."

-Why were their three coffins for Utena's parents' deaths to begin with? Why was there a third coffin there?
-More importantly, why did the coffins have the rose seal on them?
-What is with the near-identical similarity in how Utena and Himemiya were shown in their coffins, laying in that position among rose petals?
-Moreover, WTF at that whole scene with Himemiya in the coffin?
-What is Touga's deal? And who or what is this "End of the World" he now seems to be in contact with?

Probably my only major theory right now that is probably fucking wrong is that this "End of the World" is Utena's prince. Mainly because he seems to be pulling all the strings, his giving of the rose seal ring to Utena could be some part in his grand scheme, and Touga seems to be very familiar with everything that's going on, including Utena's situation (mainly him saying "Because your prince was a lot like me, right? " is what's tying them together for me, because I don't think he's this prince, and as has been mentioned, he is in contact with him).

With that all said, I would just like to say, fuck Saionji.
A lot of those questions will be answered by the show itself, but my interpretation on the coffin thing
is just along the lines that Utena was ready to die, but that the events happening there are what give her the motivation to go on.
A lot of the imagery you will see is just Ikuhara being Ikuhara. Symbolism, yo.
