Well, I do have some idea of what's going on, but the fact I have to decipher it, even if it takes a few seconds, is getting in the way of my enjoyment. I don't need things to be 100% straightforward, but if there's any kind of delay in my understanding of a scene, then there's a good chance my suspension of disbelief has been broken.
That and I'm not really feeling the story here anyway. I don't know, I guess I was expecting a more focused build-up to help me care about the characters and actually be shocked when the whole "everything isn't as it seems" stuff kicks in. It's just a chore to get invested in this.
You place too much value on suspension of disbelief.

I just mean I'm immersed. If I'm not, then I'm not enjoying myself. I can suspend my disbelief for virtually anything if I'm having a good time.
The thing is, I don't think you're really supposed to feel sympathy for the protagonist at this point, because he really doesn't deserve it. It's more like watching a train wreck and seeing if anyone is going to survive.
And I'm guessing Shinbo's style just isn't for you; he cares very little about directing naturalistically.
That's even worse. This isn't a videogame.

Film is film - any form of expression is fair game as long as it's well-executed, I don't give a shit if it's intentionally artificial or breaks my suspension of disbelief, and this is coming from someone who does tend to show a preference towards works that accurately capture a realistic sense of reality in it's portrayal.

I don't know, I've seen and liked stuff that people say is comparable to his style like Dusk Maiden, but it does look like I've never greatly enjoyed anything he actually directed. Though I did like Zetsubou Sensei.

What a crock of shit. You can't relate to characters in a movie now? If some people feel the need to place themselves within the context of the movie to derive enjoyment out of it, that does not make their point of view any less valid than your arthouse snooty world view.
Because pizzaroll believes that the only way to enjoy a show is to look at the meta and marvel at how a scene was animated, how a shot was framed, how the scenes were connected or somesuch.

As I said, I don't hate the show for it. It's just incredibly frustrating.
EDIT: Also, there are mechanisms, ranging from mild (there are bosses) to severe (lawsuits), they're just either weak or considered socially unacceptable.
If we're really trying to be intellectual, a lot of rhetoric and narrative classes that I'm taking say the exact opposite of what you're saying. lol.

What are you studying?
We discussed movies such as The Matrix and Hamlet. Why does it matter though? I feel like at this point the argument is going on just for argument's sake. No offense but I find this to be extremely trivial. I get that you have your own perspective. Cool. I don't want to be beaten with it because you think that I'm wrong or misguided or whatnot.
Narratives. Ranging from various artifacts whether it be film, books, or whatnot.

Honestly, most of the bigger BD releases, anime-wise, tend to be backloaded towards the last couple of weeks of the month. It's not really surprising nothing's selling huge numbers at this point.

Just tell me to fuck off if I'm curious beyond admissible limits, I won't take any offense, but I like to know lots of things. And I'm crious about studies as I only finished mine recently, so i sitill have fresh appy memories about college ^^

For the immersion discussion, I think it can be a good quality, but it's not a necessary one. The same is true for anything else. There are works that are enjoyable because they transport you to another time and place, and there are works that are good because they challenge you or keep you off-balance. Both techniques have their uses.
It's not necessarily bad if a show breaks immersion, as long as there's a reason. That's true for just about anything. If a show is doing something like that, you should be asking yourself why, because that's probably the whole point of taking you out of the experience.
