So jealous of the people checking out Turn A for the first time. That show is magical. It's probably my favorite gundam show. Up there with Zeta and Victory for me.

After seeing the trailer, I don't think it looked quite as uninteresting as Psycho-Pass. Character designs were odd and color was off, but the overall world design looks cool. Like some of the tech design like the bike. Music was good too. Look doesn't matter much to me anyway. New GitS will make or break on story.

Well, how familiar are you with Tow Ubukata? Because...uhh...

There were a lot of low points in that anime than high points. Compounded with that awful character design made it much worse.

But powering through that show to catch those high points until the end left me with a relieved feeling. Yeah, that show wasn't so bad.

I may or may not be a closet masochist.

Ok then i might watch it in some way before the summer

It's okay, none of you are real peoples so it doesn't count.
WHAT ?
ok then

Fake recommendations are bannable now. Evilore said so.
Good riddance - because the let's recommend someone school days for the lulz shlock was getting old fast.
So it's not like the Phantom Menace?
Turn-A does share some of the same issues that Phantom Menance has - mainly off the top of my head, it's handling of politics and character motivations oh and let's not forget "editing" but amusingly enough those "issues" in Turn-A tend to serve as quirks of the series, rather than outright flaws that are enough to ruin it.

Some time in the ancient past, around nine months ago, I made a comment that once I moved into my new apartment I was planning on putting up those K-ON!! cloth posters that come with the BDs, and firehawk told me to post pics. I can't even find those posts now; for all I know maybe it was on IRC.

Anyway, for the sake of the AOTY voting in January I finally watched the rest of season 2 (which upgraded my opinion of the series from "great" to "it's raining") and then the movie (also fantastic - AOTY 2012), so I was in a mood to get this done. It was a bit time-consuming because they come folded in small boxes the same size as the BD cases, so you need to steam the wrinkles out of them.

I wonder sometimes if i should watch Ryvius. Should i ?

Assuming you mean the television series Infinite Ryvius then yes, yes you should. I will warn you that the first few episodes can be a little confusing and the character designs aren't to everyone's taste.

The novel version of Mardock Scramble and the bits of Fafner he actually wrote were fine, though.

I can't comment on the Mardock novels, but I loathed every last thing about Fafner, so I suppose that we're just apart on this point.

I liked Chevalier!

You're also the only person who's ever actually seen it! :p

I'll probably bump it up in the backlog when Arise gets closer to release

Man, I wish the Sentai release had something as cool as that. Instead I get a AMAZING Anime Network ad...

Should've hung them up higher, near the ceiling imo.

That would make it harder to believe in the illusion that they're really there with you.

His bedding is near the ground, so if he hangs them up higher he can look at them without tilting his head as he falls asleep. Also it'd just look better.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I had assumed (and hoped) Kagami took them off after this pic.

What the fuck, Takamura!? it was going so well too... I hope the show recovers for the next episode and brings back the fun.
Although I can still enjoy the super genkiness of Akane. As for today's featured character, she seems to have an interesting BACKSTORY. My only hope is that the crow is 100% evil and everything is played straight, focusing on style and action.
Last week's episode was so much better storyboarded and animated too... well, I can't expect everyone to be Trigger.

Heh, personally I really needed the character context and interaction episode 5 gave, rather than just the pretty transformations and supermoves from the previous episodes, so I wound up enjoying this more than epsiodes 2 through 4, but I see where you're coming from.

So Reimu
is from some alternate world apparently and signed a contract with Crowby
"Crowhorn" seems to have caught on as a name for the crow due to her being voiced by Sonozaki Mie (Barkhorn in Strike Witches).

So does this kind of confirm that
the Incarnate Engine is drawing power from alternate universes or something like that
?

Maybe but not necessarily.
The way the crow said it, Rei's world may have just had its own Engine that went berserk.

Sailor Moon 39

Bout to wrap up Season 1, and it's getting pretty good. Lots of feels are happening, but it's still pretty goofy for the most part. I like how in one episode the bad guys are like "Sailor Moon is really clumsy, so let's have a princess training seminar, and the dumbest, clumsiest one will be Sailor Moon!" and then in the next two episodes they're like "We'll have a princess contest, and the most athletic, graceful one has to be Sailor Moon!" The Dark Kingdom is just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks at this point. And Tuxedo Mask-sama is just trolling both sides, but his swag is so off the charts, he can get away with it.

This show is so great, characters are great, Fukuen Misato is great.
By far my favorite of the season, after Vividred didn't live up to expectations.

That makes a bit more sense. I guess they didn't want to use the actual name to avoid looking too much like an advertisement? Us nerds are a cynical bunch or something.
I think it's more that getting the reference is part of the fun.
If you spell it out straight, it's less amusing.

Fans feel clever when they get references, so why not make them happy with some really easy ones?
What Mandoric said.

Oh hey, I understand nerd pandering. White nerds have been tricked by Community, The Big Bang Theory, and Edgar Wright films for a while now.
Haha, yeah it's shameless but I still enjoy the nerd humor in stuff like Haganai and Steins;Gate.
Haganai's had 2ch memes and manga memes since ep 1 of the first series, including this episode 5 of season 2; a lot of it doesn't really get through in English so it's actually worse than you're thinking haha.
E.g. when Rika says
she's going to go "enjoy the afterglow" (Funi subs), the Japanese phrase she uses is "sage time" (賢者タイム), net slang for the period of time after masturbation/sex when sexual desire isn't clouding your mind/decisions so you have the wisdom of a sage.

I assume it's just "on the list" because 4chan latched onto it for being hardcore shotacon pornography. Having not seen it, presumably it's unpleasant viewing in a different way to the other troll recommendations people like to throw out like School Days.

How are people who enjoyed Boku no Pico different from people who enjoyed K-on, GnP or lolibasket?

So, with regards to the Ghost in the Shell: Arise videos:

My first reaction: is that it?

Now, it's early days still and I'm only judging the property based on the limited amount of information they've provided but I can't say that I am excited. What I can see from the trailer:

- A number of visual call backs to shots in the original movie.
- Makoto fanservice
- Explosions
- Action sequences which looks pretty in terms of animation and choreography
- No interesting animation to speak of for the rest of the trailer
- Questionable character designs
- Questionable colouring and lighting
- Questionable background art

Where's the wow factor? I would assume that Production I.G must realise that Ghost in the Shells is one of those few properties they have which is really popular outside Japan and has the potential to do well in those markets. As such they should really be brining out their big guns to totally floor us with something unexpected but powerful. By resting on established and familiar visual elements it feels like they haven't bothered to create something new and interesting - they just want to capitalise on a successful property and this is one way to do that. Nothing in the trailer grabbed my attention at all and if you imagine it unconnected to the Ghost in the Shell franchise than it's not the kind of thing that you'd even bother making a thread. A new Ghost in the Shell work should be far more ambitious and impressive than that. This trailer had no style of grace.

Now, the logical retort to all my points is: people don't like new stuff, they want more of what they've already had. Just throw on a new paint of coat, don't make something totally different because that will put people off. My response to this claim is that I don't care if people would be put off by something new or daring, I want to see that new or daring thing. I don't really care about more of the same.

Based on the director and writer's past works I can't see them topping either Mamoru Oshii's or Kenji Kamiyama's vision of Ghost in the Shell. More over, their comments about CSI and Production I.G.'s approach with many of it's recent properties has led me to doubt that they'll be producing anything that I care about.

Another problem with the whole approach that they're taking is that I honestly don't care where these characters came from. Motoko and Batou are perfectly interesting and engaging characters without a whole series of works dedicating to exploring their origins. There are very few prequels that actually add anything to a franchise overall and so I'm honestly quite sceptical of this whole approach.

Vividred Operation - 05
An episode with no docking but the seed for a delicious relationship have been planted ..

That's good i guess.
I think we've now heard every character song as endings .. i like the yellow girl one better.

On the "Talk Operation" internet show that streams on Niconico after the anime, the VAs said that the remaining episodes will share a single ending song.

Okay, I'm done now.

Holy shit! I woke up to this. Scared the shit out of me at first.

Welcome to the NHK! - 4

Pretty funny episode. I've heard 80% of all VNs are derivative crap actually. Wondering whether the sempai will be a love interest.

Ohh. NICE SERIES. You might be on to something there ;)
Misaki is adorable.

This ED is the stuff of dreams.

School Days is a fake reccomendation?

I thought it was an educational reference point as to why harem leads are sexless and keep their dicks in their pants.

Absolutely not! I would wholeheartedly recommend School Days with the best of intentions. It is a great love story.

It's strange. In normal magical girl shows, I love when they skip or alter the stock footage... But here, I was sad that I didn't get to see it. Of course, the difference is probably that unlike 50-episode shows with unique scenes in 23 and 47, I've only seen each transformation in this show once so far. And they're so good.

I wish they'd at least shown enough of Akane's to see her P.E. outfit disintegrate, since that's a different outfit than she was wearing the first time.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but there's no harm mentioning it again. The Aku no Hana anime site updated recently with some really minor stuff. First of all, there will be two early screenings for episode 1 at different venues towards the end of March. The interesting thing is that the guests at one of these venues will be the as-yet-unannounced "live action cast", while the guests at the other venue is the voice cast which has already been announced. The other update is that in the Staff section of the site, they have listed a company called Decode under "live action production".

As mentioned before, for this anime they're doing a full scale rotoscope technique. The fact that there will be a live action cast that they're actually acknowledging in the promotional efforts, and a company contracted to actually help produce the live action basis for the show, would mean that this anime is probably going to be really, really different from pretty much anything else out there. They're filming 100% of the show in live action, and then rotoscoping it into animation. As such, I wonder if the show would even require storyboards. It's going to be weiiiiiiiiiird.
