I had roughly two years of Photography classes in college. I can't help it.

I dont get why it matters. First post or last, it doesnt matter.
I discovered this when I started explaining what sakuga was to some of my non-anime watching friends.Do you ever feel like you knowledge of anime is unhealthily better than your knowledge of other, more important things? I do!
People don't usually read the whole thread so if your post was the last of the page then it only gets a couple of minutes of exposure till people move on. I know this for a fact by comparing views on embedded images on posts.I dont get why it matters. First post or last, it doesnt matter.
I seem to be cursed with getting the last post on a page fairly regularly.
Usually if your the last post in the thread your comment is usually lost in the conversation
Code: Breaker Episode 7
The plot twists just get more and more nonsensical and it's amazing. In particular, theThe Lost forms are absolutely ridiculous, too. I'm honestly hoping we get to see more of them. Really, this show just keeps getting more and more over the top. And as usual, the fight scenes and effects were quite good. I feel like I shouldn't be enjoying this as much as I am.sudden hypocrisy of literally everything Sakura Sakurakouji's done (or hasn't done, to be honest) in light of the fact she has no qualms with the fact her dad is the leader of the largest yakuza organization in Japan is just wow. I almost want to call it character assassination were I not enjoying it so much.
Was kinda hoping that Ogami would keep the sword, though. Flaming blade attacks seem too good a proposition.
This might have been the case a year ago when the thread was still skirting the line between spamfest and genuine substantive discussion. I no longer try to read the thread in its entirety, so I do miss stuff when skimming quickly through the pages!I dont get why it matters. First post or last, it doesnt matter.

[Tamako Market] - 3
KyoAni really doesn't make bad shows.
I find it interesting that this episode was directed and scripted by Taichi Ogawa a person who, according to ANN at least [citation needed] hasn't done much of anything in the past. Giving the most important part of the production to a relative neophyte (unless it's just a given name) is relatively interesting. Is this a result of the positive training and work structure that Kyoto Animation studio practices?
In terms of obvious stand out things from this episode, the sheer amount of blossom porn in this episode was delicious. Once again another fine effort from the folks at Anime Kobo Basara, or Studio Blue (no ideas which) as they're the studios that handle background art for a number of Kyoto Animation productions.
I can't help but thinking Venus is the wrong one in that picture.
Ritsu = Makoto
Mugi = Venus
Yui = Usagi
Mio = Rei
Azusa = Ami
Do you ever feel like you knowledge of anime is unhealthily better than your knowledge of other, more important things? I do!
ell, that makes sense, but isn't the first and last post "bookmarks" that most people would read? I know I do that. Helps to keep the whole thread together IMO.
I suppose people would get impatient after a while of scrolling so maybe you're right.
How about Chuunibyou? Granted, it's not really bad compared to the lowest of the low, but its execution was oddly MUCH worse than what I (and many people) have come to expect of Kyoani. Not just in the colour and BG department, the show's animation was not as nuanced as Hyouka's yet not as sketchily fun as K-On!'s (or Tamako Market's), it came off as unpolished and suffered some drops towards the end. The directing wasn't very good either, aside from some standouts like 5 and 6 a lot of good staff did poorer jobs than usual. I would just blame it on Ishihara, but he also supervised Nichijou so I don't know exactly what happened with Chuuni.
Ogawa has some experience as enshutsu, he did Hyouka 12 and 19, and storyboarded Chuuni 11, but yeah, compared to Yamada and motherfucking Kigami he's a baby. That's a very good result of Kyoani's studio philosophy, the talented ones progress really fast; just have a look at Chise Kamoi, she's already one of the better sakkans over at the studio and she only started doing this kind of work on Nichijou. Eisaku Kawanami is another example of a promising youngster. There are a lot of interesting staff over at the studio, I wonder when we're going to see someone promoted to a full supervisor.
Nowadays they seem to go for a mix between AKB/St.Blue and inhouse staff. Shuuhei Okude (the awesome art director for Hyouka) did some BGs for this episode, although it's certainly much harder to pinpoint who did what in this area, compared to key animation.
Well, people are currently watching Wandering Son, although I'm not sure how it got missed the first time around.
Oh wait, yes I am. I shouldn't assume that every single person in the world keeps up with the seasonal anime releases.

I feel that, from time to time, I should probably write about things other than Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (even though that's a lot of fun to rave about).
So yeah, KyoAni's inoffensive series about cute girls 'and stuff' continues to be pretty good. I imagine this will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with their works because it's been apparent for a long time that KyoAni really doesn't make bad shows. Whether or not they're your (joke not intended) cup of tea is really neither here nor there because most of you reading this already know where you fall in this matter.

I'm really enjoying the character of the bird. He really brings a great edge to the show that keeps it from being completely consumed by the traditional K-On model when it comes down to character interaction. Excuse me if this has been said already, because I've missed a number of posts in these threads, but does anyone else find it fascinating that the only romantically aggressive male character that KyoAni can deal with in a show is a talking bird? If a male character was acting the same way that he does it would be considered creepy and inappropriate, certainly not the kind of thing you'd find in K-On. Yet, because he's a bird, they're got an avenue for pulling out all those classic gags and jokes about overly pompous, romantic and (occasionally lecherous) men. He can stalk girls, make a fool out of himself by thinking that he's the centre of everyone world, repeatedly try and look at girls naked in the bath etc etc all without it being unwholesome.

Is this a result of the positive training and work structure that Kyoto Animation studio practices? Either way, good for them I. It must be pretty intimidating to be creating an episode that has to follow directly on from episodes that have been created by more seasoned staff and while this episode is certainly nowhere near as slick and refreshing as the pilot it's actually a very solidly directed episode.

I like the framing here. The fact that the three are a tight group is emphasised both by the horizontal line of the barrier on the right but also the two vertical lines of metal poles. You're not hit over the head with it either, which I appreciate because it allows the image to maintain a natural as opposed to a manufactured feeling. Of course, the image as a whole is just really nice with the harsh, straight lines broken up the natural elements such as the water and the tree which are themselves balanced by those boxy objects in the bottom left hand corner.
I mean, there's a few fairly dull 'theatre' shots from time to time but most of the time the cinematography is keeping me entertained and, perhaps more importantly in a show as sedate as this, the pacing is handled in a manner where I'm not falling asleep in my chair. There's a distinct formula, a rhythm to this series and this episode is no exception. I didn't feel like any time was being wasted, or, conversely, that things weren't being given time to breathe. For instance, when Tamako prepares the Mochi she beckons Asagari to eat some, then she sits their waiting for the food to be eaten and as she's waiting she fidgets. It's a great little moment that tells you something about both characters. I think it's a lot harder to keep things interesting in a show where, well, not a lot happens when compared with a big action series, see for example Hyouka which suffered from a fair spell of terribly dry stretches.

For whatever reason I used to assume that most animation studios also worked on the background art for the anime that they were animating, when in fact many studios work with studios that specialise purely in background art. Of course, some studios, such as Ghibli, are renowned both for their animation and their background art.
Something that I don't hear anyone talk about very often is the quality of the sound production in KyoAni's shows, which I suppose is understandable considering how subtle a lot of it is. For example, when the scene cuts from an interior shot of the classroom where we can hear students applauding to an exterior shot of the corridor we can hear the sound of the applause shift appropriately. Similarly, during the scene that takes places in the sports hall Asagari hit a shuttlecock with her badminton racket and the audio that they use for that moment sounds like a shuttlecock being hit by a racket in a big hall with appropriate reverb. As with great, naturalistic background art you may not be consciously paying attention to what you're hearing or seeing but these small touches go up to making a more convincing fictional world, one that feels more believable and lived in. This is commendable. After all, with an animation everything that you see and hear has to be created by someone, there's no cheating any part of the process.
Was going to post some impressions, but I'll just quote you instead since I'm about on the same wavelength regarding this episode. I do have to admit that this episode was my least favorite of the three so far, but it wasn't bad either. And Ditto on the sound. I'm watching these in my living room in 5.1 (yes I know they are broadcast in stereo), but the effect is still there and it sounds just as great as it does on headphones.
It has been roughly 65 hours and we have reached almost 3000 posts. I'm so proud.
You and I are on the same wavelength!
Thankfully no, and I intend to keep it that way unless I ever make it my job, which it isn't.
I'm just a lowly casual watcher who likes fun things being fun.
Whatever it takes to keep Porcelainthrill from initiating Third Impact.
And people said we had no impact on the industry.
My main gripe with Kotoura-san is still the execution, it's so standard and underwhelming for me I just end up staring with a blank face at most scenes, be it comedy or DRAMA. The first 10 minutes of ep 1 were well done, and I kinda liked the storyboarding for this episode's part where, but aside from those moments it's just a run of the mill romcom with the added grimdark twist.Manabe gets beaten
What number is it on right now?
I just re-start any discussions I'm interested in, even if they're from a week ago.This is what I do. It's just that when I get up in the morning there can be like ten pages, and it's too demanding to sift through all of it. Not to mention that even if there was a discussion that piqued my interest early on in that sifting, it would have almost certainly ended by the time I awoke.
11/100
I was thinking shouldn't it be 11/99 because his 100th post is the one that would put him on the wall of shame.
