I'm not just talking about character designs--Fresh is ugly on a deeply fundamental level. It was animated in MSPaint, inbetweened in North Korea, and upscaled from 180p to 2160p when it aired. Even you, my dear all-accepting friend, would take issue with the way it looks after one episode.

the aliasing gave it such a charm as if the animators were doing their best even if they didn't know what they were doing

I appreciate the warning.

A neat little feature of the Revolutionary Girl Utena BD boxes:

The first BD box set had this illustration on the back:

And now with the release of the second box set, we can see why:

Cute.

(via @azabaro)

Such beautiful box-art. One of these days, Utena, one of these days. I will watch you.

Speaking of firehawk...

Looks like :firehawk Season 2 starts in July: http://tamayura.info/

Awww YES. I've still yet to finish the first season but more Sato is always a great thing!

Would starting with Futari wa be like getting into Doctor Who with William Hartnell?

I'm just going to assume that your analogy is correct.

May I ask why? And I really don't feel like reconsidering. Why does there have to be a right and wrong way to do this shit?

Well, the thing is, there's no "right" order to watch the shows in, but Futari wa is pretty bad for getting a feel for what the franchise is actually like. Some elements have remained constant, but the formula is so evolved now that Futari wa is pretty much just its own thing with only a passing resemblance to future installments. It's a legit fun series on its own so I would never permanently discourage anyone from watching it; I just assume you're testing the franchise and not particularly concerned with chronological series order.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have phrased anything like a command. Makes me sound like a jerk. This is what I get for posting right before I go to bed.

Nah that's all right. I'm pretty cranky myself. Think I'll watch an episode of Spice and Wolf and then go to bed.

Edit: I should point out that I've kinda already settled on watching series like Heartcatch and Smile, so this isn't something that's going to make me say "Huh, this sucks. I guess Precure sucks." I've already said to Regulus that if I get tired of this I'll just move onto HC.

I can see what you mean. I just find it to be a really charming first show in the series.
I've made it through 32 episodes in a relatively short time. That means I am pretty smitten by it. Might even finish it up by the time I have to go back to work Sunday night.

So first Canadian football sucks, and now you haven't watched Utena yet? My Mayo Chiki! bro is a harbinger of disappointment lately. :(

It's been in my backlog for what seems like ages. :( I promise to get around to it soon enough!

Right now, I have an itching to watch Tatami Galaxy..

Reason #57 that DokiDoki is Fresh 2.0: bad zooming.

Nah, you have every right to be apprehensive if someone tells you to stop watching something that you're enjoying :lol I hope you really enjoy Futari wa, just keep in mind that it's mid-tier as far as seasons go if you end up disliking it.

P.A. Works making some of that cash money by doing a few original anime short stories to promote a city.
Mikio Tanaka, the mayor of the Japanese city of Nanto, announced on Friday that the anime studio P.A. Works is making the original short Koitabi ~True Tours Nanto. The short tells three love stories set in Nanto.

Junji Nishimura (True Tears, Dog Days, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, Ranma ½) is directing the anime off a script by Mari Okada. The cast includes Kaori Nazuka, Ayahi Takagaki, Yuka Iguchi, Makoto Ishii, and Hiroyuki Yoshino. The group eufonius is performing the theme song.

The city's theater will hold a screening of the completed short on April 28.

I started with Futari Wa because I know that the franchise just gets better from there. why start at the top and work downwards? then you just get disappointed. Heartcatch and smile are the rewards I will give myself for making it through other series first. It will be the prize.

Subete no aware
I believe it's a little too woozy to qualify for that.
It makes more sense than Lost, BSG, and the SyFy anime airing at the moment put together. lol

It was only for a couple minutes toward the end. And I am being a bit hyperbolic, but it's true I wasn't quite expecting it. ^^;

So yeah. :p

This show is slowly entering SAO territory for me. I mean, it's as asinine as OreShura, but the self-awareness is not doing it any favours... because that means the author is aware that it's all bullshit but refuses to do anything about it because he needs to pimp more books. That's not honesty, that's veiled contempt for the audience on the scale of Kawahara.

You know, this show isn't good or anything, but it does its hero swagger moment a lot better than Rinne no Lagrange ever did. It's probably because the stakes are very simple, as opposed to whatever convoluted mess Rinne S2 turned into. lol

One of the more disturbing episodes of anime I've seen. It was really good. Kazama in the nightmare sequences were straight up Silent Hill. Last one up next...

Kinda like Natsume

Sex hair is pretty nice. I have a hair fetish. I don't care what color, but I prefer long and slightly wavy. Like a European porn star with a fit body and long legs.

I was trying to avoid squeeing to death but since you mentioned her I'm gonna go ahead and do that.

Don't be like me, I watched all of Zero no Tsukaima because I'm a Kugyuu loyalist and because Louise is one of the hottest things ever.

I think Shana is the show that mainly ruined Kugilolis for me. Toradora is the show that very nearly redeemed them. ZnT is kind of in the middle. I have the first season and I didnt abhor it.

That seems weird to me, Louise is pretty much the most abusive of all of them and pretty much ragged on because of it. Honestly, the only shows I liked out of all Kugiloli shows were Toradora (like is an understatement) and Hayate no Gotoku.

Well like you said, I put up with it because Louise is rather adorable sometimes.
Especially singing the ending themes.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Rose is absolutely wonderful but man Dragon Crisis was ass. Great soundtrack and OP/ED though.

I've been looking for a new show to watch to counterbalance iM@S (need something a bit more action-y to go along with it), and I saw Dragon Crisis, and instantly knew that it was shit just from the cover art.
