Mobile Fighter G Gundam 14

Man, Gundam 00 WISHES it could write plot twists as emotional and stunning as this episode. Master Asia is the bad guy? WHO'DA THUNK? Holy cow, I wasn't expecting to be so into this show, but really, this is shaping up to be the coolest Gundam show ever. Granted it's somewhat unfair because it's also the most unorthodox Gundam show ever.

The Master Asia reveal was such a landmark moment. But the emotions and plot twists get even better later on. The first 13 or so episodes of G Gundam are pretty enjoyable, but it's only after these episodes that the real show starts to come together and you get stuff like this.

I could feel my face going scarlet when the Akio Car showed up. Like getting caught up watching porn!

Reminds me of when my mom walked in on me when I was watching the Evangelion episode with the Misato/Kaji sex scene (dubbed, no less).

The blades do break off, it's part of the design. The manga actually goes into intricate detail to explain the function and mechanics of their gear; I'm curious as to how they'll adapt the various postscript-type pages which explain important aspects of the Attack on Titan universe.

I've never heard anything other than it's extremely boring and squanders the whole Persona aspect.

The manga is straight up insane. There is no hope ever and even when things calm down they are always seconds away from getting real in increasingly worse ways for the good guys.

Gonzo and MADHOUSE's Anime Mirai 2013 shorts, Death Billiards and Ryo, will air on Japanese TV this month. YTV will broadcast Death Billiards on March 18 and Ryo on March 25 as part of its MANPA block.

Anyway, I might be jumping the gun after a single episode, but this scratched the most incredible itch and I'm not even entirely sure what. It's the kind of thing that I would have watched the fuck out of if 4kids had aired it on KidsWB when I was 13, but man if it isn't really refreshing to my adult self too somehow. It's so clean and colorful, high-energy, absolutely packed with SHOUNEN HAATO that I don't even care about the CG or that the episode was essentially babby's first mecha introductory episode. As you're all painfully aware by now I like a lot of anime intended for younger audiences, and this is sort of the sweet spot of being optimistic and uncomplicated without feeling dumbed down or taking the extra step further into soulless toy pimping like B-Daman, Beyblade, etc. This is just pure popcorn anime.

Another solid episode. I really like seeing the analytical side of Mutta, and both Bold and Bison make for entertaining instructors. Their scenes were very good in this episode. The current task the candidates have for them looks like it will be pretty interesting, too.

Hey, Gargantia could be pretty good. Even if you don't like CG mecha there's plenty of things to like about the design work on everything else, and the director is a bro.
