Winter of Anime 2013 |OT -6| How much lower can we go?!

Nurse Witch Komugi 05 - Finale: this anime was crazy from beginning to end. I liked that crazynss though I also see how it could be blocking othe people. Overall: :chet/:cajun

Cardfight!! Vanguard - Asia Circuit 72 ~ 74: That'll probably the end of their first try very soon. Kamui and Misaki need to get Limit Breaks or the will be completly useless. Can't wait the next training arc.

As someone who's not opposed to watching a decent shonen show, is Toriko any good? Seems like something I may kind of be interested in checking out.

Its pretty addicting additionally, middle of the way it has a few one or two episodes stories that are hit or miss but has picked up these past 10 or so episodes to be back epic again.

Its not a landmark in the genre or anything but its fun, has a really good world with its food and abilities, and is enjoyable.

And so, because you all wanted to know:

Dexter was voiced by Ayumi Kida, who doesn't have a particularly storied anime voicing career, while DeeDee was voiced by Aya Yamakawa, who... also hasn't done a huge amount of anime.

Huh.

You can hear a Japanese version of the ED on NicoVideo here (I have absolutely no idea if this is fake or not - I can't hear any of the lyrics over the terrible sound quality, but with a title like "Dexter's Lab For Busy People" it could be a pisstake...)

I really would love to see a Gundam-like series (or mech anyway) in the vein of the new Battlestar Galactica in the sense that there are real scientific concepts backing it such as no explosions in space or even sound.

If we're going for realism, why would they be piloting human shaped crafts in space? And why would they be so large?

glad you liked it!
Komugi is a bit too crazy and hyperactive for some, like Excel Saga.
it is short enough not to be exhausting though.

I didn't know that got dubbed in Japanese. Will have to seek it out I guess.

Maturity, bitches.
Not everyone lives in North America yo.
Yeah man. I'm still on Betamax. Gimme a break.

Also since Hidamari has been brought up, I have tried once again to get into it. Watched two episodes over the weekend. I will eventually finish the first season.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Translation: I haven't seen a Shaft show for a while.

I think Madoka was the only one I'd ever seen before this.

Remember, I'd been out of the anime scene for like 10 years or so before I started posting in here. I watched Nichijou, Madoka, and Usagi Drop all back to back just before I started posting in here, and that was pretty much the first anime I'd watched in a long time, save for HSotD and PSG a few months earlier. I think Tonari was the first anime I posted impressions of in here.

So yeah, I'm still relatively new and frequently have no idea what you guys are talking about. :lol

If you check out Shaft's other shows, Bakemonogatari and Soredemo specifically, you will see more of their fast cuts that makes no sense.

Is there technobabble behind the pink explosions? Or are they just... pink.

Gundam explosions are just pink for the sake of it.

If you want to get technical it may be due to the composition of metals used in manufacturing the mobile suits. The right combination may produce a pink explosion.

It's decent, never goes into absolute shit territory, but there's only one or two notable high points out of 95 episodes.

I'm always looking for a decent longer show I can marathon when I'm bored. Almost caught up with Gintama and don't have too much One Piece left after that. This seems right up my alley. Thanks guys.

This news is kinda late but it seems no one mentioned it yet. Aku no Hana announced some details about the opening theme song for the show, and it's about as weird as everything else about the show so far.

The theme song itself will be performed by the band Uchuujin, and composed and produced by their lead singer Asako Shinosaki. But she might not be the one singing the song. Instead, the theme song will be performed by 3 vocalists, each having their own lines.

There will also be 4 variations of the opening theme in total. These 4 variations can be combined into a complete song (which I assume will be the single they sell). The mystery vocalists will be announced at a later date, but we should consider that there are 3 lead characters in the show, and I think all 3 of them have some experience in performing musically.

As for who Uchuujin is, you can check out their site: http://uchu-jin.com/

And this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abSQKGmv-R8&feature=player_embedded

As someone who's a big fan of people trying dumb new things, I cannot wait to see how this looks. Even if it's a train wreck, it'll be a fascinating one.

All that betrayal.
Poor Chiriko got his ass handed to him by that superweapon girl though I suppose it couldn't be helped and he did hold his own given the circumstances.

Love Live! episode 10

You've awakened the beast, girls! Prepare to be destroyed!

Is this anime only 12 episodes? The pacing is more for a 2 cour show.

So I decided to watch Zeta Gundam in the interim while I wait for Starship Operators to get here.

I'm at episode 2. Holy shit at this lead. Kamille is straight up insane.

This is what the power of Google can do to an innocent mind:

- So we know that Aku no Hana is being filmed in live action before being rotoscoped into animation. That's pretty weird right? It gets weirder.

- The company credited for the production of the live action is Decode. This is their website: http://www.decode-in.com/

- Look what else they recently did. They assisted in the production of Stu Levy's Pray for Japan documentary. The guy who runs Decode is Noriyuki Waki. The same guy who is mentioned... here

http://prayforjapan-film.org/page/the-team-initial-volunteer-work
http://prayforjapan-film.org/page/the-team-filming-in-tohoku-japan

Stu agreed, and upon his return to Tokyo, called up his good friend Nori Waki, who had previously helped film projects in Japan with Stu, such as Van Von Hunter and America's Greatest Otaku. Waki-san agreed to join Stu on the ground for 3 weeks, reshuffling his schedule.

- But wait, it gets WEIRDER!

http://prayforjapan-film.org/page/the-team-opening-animation

In taking on the animated sequence that opens our film, top-tier anime director Hiroshi Nagahama and veteran anime production house Studio DEEN's Kazunori Noguchi agreed, like everyone else who partnered with Pray For Japan, to donate their talents.

[...]

Hiroshi Nagahama is no stranger to working with Levy: he was the representative of the Japanese animation industry on the selection panel for AMERICA'S GREATEST OTAKU. Calling Nagahama-san from Tohoku while volunteering, Stu began to articulate his vision of an animated introduction to the documentary.

- The same Hiroshi Nagahama who is directing... Aku no Hana. Is this all a coincidence and a sign that the industry is a small place? Or is Aku no Hana a secret tax shelter scam to bring Tokyopop back into business? You decide!

Aku no Hana is tax-shelter lingo for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Futari wa Pretty Cure 14

Nagisa and Honoka's friends decide to imitate Pretty Cure to entertain the kindergarteners at some nearby playground. Needless to say, it gets them into a world of shit. I don't know why Nagisa and Honoka are so concerned about whether or not people saw them transform. I mean, their enemy already knows their identities, so the most important part of keeping a secret identity is already compromised. But then again, it would suck to have everyone know it I guess.

I swear, these villains have major short-term memory issues. How have they not prepared for Pretty Cure Marble Screw yet? And moreover, why don't they just unleash that attack once they're done transforming? I'm not a magical girl expert, but at least in Sailor Moon, they had to actually subdue the enemy or knock it down or off guard before Sailor Moon could finish it off. Here they just unleash it whenever and it ALWAYS works.

Nagisa has the worst fucking poker face in the world. How did those girls not figure out she was a Pretty Cure simply based on how she was acting?

I was going to type up my thoughts on Utena tonight, but I had to do physics homework, and now my brain is worn out. So I'll have to put that off til tomorrow if I feel like doing it then.
