The UK has it scheduled for this fall, and now Australia is getting it this summer (well, I guess it would be winter to them) -- the Cowboy Bebop BD box is going down under thanks to Madman in July.

Now, if somebody, anybody in the U.S. would be so kind as to stop fucking around and get this over here...

Eh, the original fan forum planned it for the end of February on the basis of "spring is coming soon = cherry blossoms" like someone mentioned before, and I guess CR decided it was as good a time as any.

I see.

There was no urgency to him leaving. You're right, the story was a totally convenient plot point to show the parallels between the two kids, but that's all it is. It's manufactured in the worst sense because it exists for no other plot related reason.
Storms are inherently act-of-god events. Nobody plans them and they don't happen according to anyone's accord. The random event of a storm bringing unresolved tensions to a head would be just as "manufactured" in a non-fiction retelling, and there's no way around that.

Nah, the whole last half hour kind of irked me.
Yuki's resolution bothered me too because of how her relation to Sohei was handled. He never apologized for obnoxiously harassing her and even though he showed remorse she never really forgave him either. It felt more like the situation was swept under the rug rather than being water under the bridge ya know? Sure her confession scene was more about coming to terms with herself than with him but it still felt really half baked. Her arc and character were still better and more interesting than Ame's though.
That it was never properly resolved is exactly the reason Yuki feels the need to confess and put it in the open to complete the implied making up that had already occured but she feels guilty about.

Bear Cavalry. Fuck YES.

Much better episode. Still as cheap as one can expect from Toei, but it was easier to follow than last week's. I suppose the episodes introducing new toys (I counted two!) get allocated a bigger budget! Not that it didn't stop Toei from reusing the character animation from the Marble Screw for the Rainbow Healing. lulz

What about Ame's inexplicable desire to set out into a bad storm at the worst possible time?

I'm not an expert on wolves but I'm pretty fucking certain they have the sense not to go out into storms. If for no other reason than that the rain would make it difficult to track and hunt prey.

I wasn't being entirely serious.

Neither was I, but only partially, because apparently only I and a few others had a problem with this.

The vast majority of AnimeGAF's more discerning anime watchers were not perturbed by this asspull at all.

MSG 0083: Stardust Memory 1

Okay, so, 4 years after Gundam (3 after its end) we have this going on. Apparently the Federation isn't as stupid as Flit's, because we've got all manner of MP Gundams, and now some Zeon hold-outs have stolen one armed with NUCLEAR WEAPONZ! And stuff. Anyway, the idea here is that we're all screwed unless this hotblooded young kid who kinda stole the other one can save the base!

Not that bad yet.

I see that you've made your choice.

Now you have to live with the consequences.

*checks calendar* Well, half a month to go... might as well get a preliminary list going finally.

Spring Animu Chart v2.0 (just released today)

Might as well start my list too:

Definitely watching:
Samurai Boobs
Oreimo S2
Azazel-san S2
Attack on Titan
Aku no Hana
Nyaruko-san S2
Hayate no Gotoku Manglobe Abomination
Railgun S2

Will watch a couple episodes to see if I stick with it:
Red Data Girl
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru
Devil Survivor 2
Photo Kano
Date a Live
Dragon Loli KanaHana Gonzo Nonsense
Hentai Ouji
That one Mermaid show
Susei no Gargantia

Ongoing shows:
Space Bros
Chihayafuru 2

This puts me at 19 currently airing shows...I barely made time for the 14 shows I'm watching now. Hopefully some of them are completely awful so even I can drop them.

Hyouka 14 (Rewatch)

This gotta be one of the best episodes of the whole show. It's just so fun and good and tense and great in every way. That's the power of Naoko Yamada for you!

The way this arc juggles four different perspectives so well is one major aspect that makes it fresh, not just in the context of Hyouka, but in general. So many shows nowadays that focus on the main character and has every plot element and side character in function of him/her, I like to see how the rest of the cast relates to the world as well.
For example, we get some first-person shots of Mayaka's situation on the manga club that I think do a pretty good job of conveying the oppressiveness she must have felt from the seniors and the ambiance of the club in general. The way they're framed and the slightly shaky cam are pretty effective.

After that, we get to see Chitanda's little adventure, this time with Irisu. I liked seeing her and her "techniques" portrayed in a more light-hearted way than how they were in the previous arc. Those are the benefits that switching perspectives can bring.

Satoshi's situation doesn't have much happening, besides his talk with Tanabe, which continues introducing the mystery of this arc to the cast. Of note in that scene was how detailed the student council classroom was:
A lot of little props here and there, pretty chaotic, they give (yet again) a good sense of the climate.
It's also interesting to see Tanabe asking if something came up in the festival; the "spicing things up" reason for carrying out the whole Juumoji ordeal was probably pretty relevant, and he pulled it off perfectly. It's funny how a lot of the clues for the mystery end up being directly related to our main cast or the stuff they were doing, like the manga and the ladle.

Throughout the episode there are little scattered moments of Oreki's more monotone situation, but his little game of straw millonaire continues seamlessly, and it even has a definite impact on other people in this episode. I'll borrow from Yamada's comment for the episode and say that seeing the 4 Classics Club members work together for the cooking competition was pretty neat.

Last but not least, the animation was fantastic this episode. Chiyoko Ueno was the AD and also did some KA, along with Shoko Ikeda for notable people. One of them probably did the Mayaka running scene, which was the highlight of the episode.
Ueno's more snappy movement and her drawings full of character shine through in the episode, and the cooking sakuga was appreciated.

By that point in the movie I had turned off any critical thinking ability because I was enjoying the movie and nothing was breaking spectacularly

But he never apologized or acknowledged the incident during the whole scene, he was rambling about how he'd live on his own. Yuki feeling guilty could explain her abrupty and unnaturally bringing it up but I don't buy that there was any off screen apology or resolution from Sohei. The first time he meets her since the incident in front of their house he inspects her hand and she feels uneasy and pulls away. Tension is still there and no scene afterwards implies this is ever relieved until this confession. So to be clear it's this one sided apology and explanation that irks me. Sohei never directly aknowledges to her his part in the whole incident and it's sort of brushed off like he did nothing wrong.

The angel's a

This might have been a bit silly had it not been done as well as it was. I don't think there's any Sci-Fi nut out there that doesn't like a bit of bridge action, with people yelling back and forth while alarm sirens blare and computer screens flash bright red. It was sort of like a bit of a sub-genre shift for an episode. The episode was pretty visually acceptable for one that didn't focus on the nuances of giant robots. Plenty of mechanical visuals to oogle at, as well as above average character art (as evidenced below).

Though not directly about the Eva's and instead the Magi, we inadvertently learn something about them that they share with the Magi.
The Magi has a personality implanted in it— Ritsuko's mother. The same technology is used in the Eva's, which begs the question: What personality does each of the Eva's have? Is it even important? At any rate, it's worth noting.

That's all for tonight. I'm wiped.

Oh man, Gakkatsu is getting a second season? That's a pleasant surprise, it's no Senyuu but definitely one of the better super short shows.

Bonus time leaps
?

Her leap count reaches zero and Chiaki only gets 1 emergency leap to go home. So how does she get to reset everything and save the two lives tragically lost? She leaps like she's never leapt before to a crescendo of music and magically gets another one. Mind you I still love this movie to death and don't find much fault other than this, I'm only so harsh because I like it so much.

They're also, what, 11? Why does everything need to be spelled out? You've never gotten into a fight/misunderstanding where the resolution was implied instead of "talking it out" ala an American sitcom?

She has 1 time leap because Chiaki leapt to before she used her last one.

I'm trying to figure out the waifu bingo game and I'm drawing a blank.

It'd be easier to make a waifu drinking game.

1. Take waifu.
2. Choose one word or phrase as the tic.
3. Choose a liquor.
4. Everytime she says the tic, you take a shot.
5. Die of alcohol poisoning.

I choose: Nakamura, "Shiteaters" (and all its various forms), and Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey.

Too bad Kuroko isn't there for Railgun. Kuroko, Onee-san and any form of alcohol will cause anyone to die in the first half of Railgun episode 1.

do you ever like...have people come into your bedroom...and then your wastebasket is filled to the brim with kleenex? it's pretty embarrassing.
It was pretty hard to pay attention. Some of the conversations and deliberations of duties were like listening to an actual gaggle of high school girls talking. In that I mean I felt swarmed with irrelevant information as the show rushed through a filler plot nobody really asked for.

Nothing about this cultural fair matters. Even as a contrivance the performance sets up nothing and feels like an afterthought in execution. Nothing about this emotional break down matters. All that matters is mole spotting. Guess how exciting that is.

I'm all for doing things subtly and this movie does it to great effect for the first 3/4 to cover a lot of their lives efficiently but I'm not going to assume something is conveniently implied when there's zero evidence brought forth to support that. Hell, just a simple smile between the two would've been all the evidence I needed. Also kind of off topic but have you seen J-dramas? That stuff is full of cheesy over the top emotional scenes, the death of subtlety is found everywhere brother and I'm still mourning it.

She has 1 time leap because Chiaki leapt to before she used her last one.

His leap to before her using her last.

Ok, then how did he get back to his time in the end? There's a missing leap no matter how you slice it
