So original!

It looks like the robot's eyes are facing the outside and its mouth is wide open, derpface-style.

Don't worry, everyone who "bails out" because of the characters, will come running back for these:

What are the arms even for on the wiiiiiiide one? They're not even long enough for the hands to touch and they can only move forward and backward.

Rough guess is that the legs fold in, the back stoops, and the arms dig into the ground to better provide support for the guns mounted on its back.

TGWLTT: No stakes.
Summer Wars: Stupid stakes.
Wolf Children: Just right.

No stakes in TGWLTT?
I don't know about you but inadvertently murdering your friend and his girlfriend with possibly no way to fix it seems pretty high stakes to me

We clearly see
Souhei making every effort to get to know her. Her going to school again is a result of his efforts. By the time the storm arrives they've clearly become friends, but the tension is still there with the things they dare not tell each other.

Do you understand why Souhei is so attracted to Yuki?
It's because of her family. He's drawn to that which he cannot have. We see a deliberate contrast between his mother and Hana. Everything from their clothes to the way they are arranged in the composition, one positioned as an adversary, framed off-kilter from the center, dominant yet not balanced.

When the
:roymustang happens, it's essentially the climax of that awkward friendship they develop. It never felt 'swept under the rug' because all the things necessary to make it feel 'real' were laid in place, and given enough space to breath, with other events happening in the interim to give it enough time to feel that something indeed developed.

Oh I never doubted why he envied her and I totally agree that the contrasting the families were brilliantly executed and gave Sohei depth but I didn't want to bring these things up because it distracted from my narrow and specific complaint. I'll admit I never made the connection that her returning might've been due to Sohei rather than her wanting to return to normalcy and further shunning her wolf side. But the distance evident in the school gym makes me doubt the clarity of their friendship at that point and it doesn't help that the only time you see them together was when they were essentially trapped together. Perhaps that distance was due to the unresolved tension and I can see how awkward friends is difficult to convey and make distinct from reluctant peer. I may have missed a cue to solidify that distinction so please enlighten me if there was.

As for sweeping under the rug, it wasn't their entire relationship that I felt was ignored though I do have doubts about how much happened off screen given the impression I had but his part in resolving the issue. I explained earlier why I thought he wasn't forgiven yet and his ramblings on leaving his far from ideal family made him seem rather self centered and felt like he was ignoring his unresolved issue with her. So for him to receive that ending on a silver platter was what seemed half baked to me.

That's............surprisingly plausible, although it raises the question of why they would design a (presumably non-airborne) mecha around this function when vehicular missile launchers use a far more efficient design for the same purpose already.

Most of the mechs belonging to the humans in MJP are general purpose mechs designed for colonization and construction. When the war escalated they retrofitted whatever existing units they had into combat-ready weapons. The super robot looking mechs the main characters have are the latest development line, and the first to actually be built purely for war purposes.

Edit: Btw I'm really NOT kidding when I said there's millions of years worth of history for the MJP story! http://mjp-anime.jp/07history/index.html

Perhaps the same could be said of all mecha.

Most mecha worth their salt at least have the advantage of incredibly high agility and versatility over conventional military vehicles.

So it's reverse Gargantia. Who'd've thunkit?

That's solved by time travel. The main romance though, just ends for the sake of the moving ending.

He was always stupid.
You could say he's emo, but he's not stupid!

Also, watching the K-On movie again, I noticed that there's a proto-Shiori:

That wasn't bad. Some hits, some misses in some skits. Honestly it just makes me want to watch more Azazel-san (which is better). Thank god for the new season.

The 2 Queens

Director/Script: Savin Yeatman-Eiffel
Animation Director/Key Animation: Toshiyuki Inoue
Character Design: Bahi JD
Concept Design: Joel Julian , Hidekazu Ohara
Art Design: Thomas Romain

The animation production is probably Studio 4C, since that's where he was working on this at the time. The first promo trailer will be shown at Tokyo Anime Fair at the end of this month.

Edit: Bahi has updated that Takeshi Honda is also a key animator on the project! French-Japanese collaborations saving Japanese animators, confirmed. :p

At fifteen minutes and two seconds into this episode, I began to laugh and cry uncontrollably. This did not stop for several minutes.

I SHOULD HAVE REALIZED WHY THERE WAS SUDDENLY AN EPISODE LOADED WITH EXPRESSIVE FACES, GOOD ANIMATION, AND CRAZY DBZ ACTION IN THIS ZERO-BUDGET PIECE OF SHIT.

I guess there was nowhere to go but down after the last two episodes. It's a rather boring episode--there are some cute, charming moments here and there, but those feed off the development from before the episode and the episode itself quickly runs out of steam. I've never been more bored watching this show; all the jump cuts in the world can't save how turgid it feels. The festival feels so pointless. I appreciate that it wraps up yet another element setup early on - the baton club - but that's one part of the show I wish they'd left alone.

More nameless kyoani moeblobs for fans to obsess over.

Oooh, nice find. Also, the two women are Fredegonde and Brunehilde. It's in the source code of the official site. :)

If Inoue and Honda are doing KA, I expect to see a few more great animators as well. But really that staff looks amazing.

How's the director? Never watched Oban Star Racers nor anything by him.

There might not be any other animators for now...

In 2012, STW announced the developement of a slate of new ambitious projects.
The first of these is the transmedia project The 2 Queens, developed as a trilogy of animation feature films, as well as a drama television series. To bring this epic historical saga to life, and aim it at a large worldwide audience, STW put together a unique team of top European and Japanese artists including animation master Toshiyuki Inoue (Akira; Blood, the Last Vampire).

The trilogy's promotional trailer, animated entirely by Mr. Inoue (with contribution from famed animation director Takeshi Honda - Evangelion, Millennium Actress), will be presented for the first time at the Tokyo Anime Fair 2013.

Promotional trailer of The 2 Queens presented at T.A.F. 2013
(Subject : The 2 Queens - Type : Festivals)

STW will present to investors the promotional trailer of The 2 Queens at Tokyo Anime Fair 2013.
This new transmedia project - a dark and epic tale of passion, conspiracy and war - has been developed as a trilogy of animation feature films, as well as on other formats, with a wide international audience in mind.

The features films are spearheaded by a top team of international artists, including animation master Toshiyuki Inoue (Akira, Blood the last Vampire) and writer director Savin Yeatman-Eiffel (Oban Star-Racers).
Mr. Inoue, a highly respected figure in the animation world, animated all the shots from the trailer, with contribution by famed animation director Takeshi Honda (Evangelion, Millennium Actress). Cesar nominated sound designer and mixer Jérome Wiciak (Oceans), and background designer Thomas Romain (Basquash!, AKB0048), two long time STW collaborators, are also on board.

If you’re attending Tokyo Anime Fair this year, don’t forget to come by booth B34!

Sounds like it's just a promotional trailer for now, meant to attract investors to fully fund the project.

I realize that this isn't the Gundam thread, and I realize this is a common complaint with this movie, but what the fuck happened between Z/ZZ and CCA to cause the Federation to fuck up this badly, and what the hell does Char think he's doing? This is confusing as hell, and I'm only 20 minutes in.

WTF has Amuro been doing since Zeta??

Maybe I should have just watched this right after Zeta after all. =/

Edit: OMG GARZEY'S WING DUCK IS HERE

You keep insisting that you're saving Doremi for a dark hour. What hour is darker than this?

FREE YOURSELF. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BUT YOUR CHAINS.

Dunno if yokoyama can save this.

I asked before but nobody replied, and this is a good chance: does the source material have a concise, definite plot that they'd be forced to adapt?
If there is, I have very slim hopes.
If there isn't, Yokoyama writing and directing it can probably save it.

Recently released VN Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai was just confirmed to have an anime in the works.

Plot summary from VNDB:
When he was young, Kyoutarou wanted to read all the magic books in the world, but they were all in the magic library. Someone told him that to get there, he must be kind to everyone and bring happiness to their hearts. He received a bookmark, which was his entrance ticket to the magic library.

One day while heading to school, he received a text from the ‘shepherd’ (hitsujikai) telling him that his fate was going to change. He had a vision of an accident at the tram station and helped prevent any injuries by calling away a nearby girl. That girl, Tsugumi, later came to the Library Club room, which he was a member of, to thank him and also to ask for his help to make Shiomi Academy more fun. It seemed that she had also received a text from the shepherd, who is rumoured to appear before people who try their best to grant their wishes. One by one, other students also join their group with the shepherd’s guidance.
Also, I just wanted to double-check: so it seems sites like Yaraon/Otanews/etc. are okay to link to, even if the ads on those sites are sometimes questionable?

I think the reason no one can answer you is because none of us want to have anything to do with a game which is basically a creepy pseudo-voyeur sim, and those here who would be able to answer your question are probably already doing time in jail. Sorry.

I love that character, she's a closeted fan of the band, and appears a few times towards the end of K-ON!! too. The fact that they thought to reference that in the movie was something I appreciated, that KyoAni continuity!

The same could be said for quite a few characters, as there are a few Mio and Mugi doppelgangers running about also.

I wish for the day they'd announce an adaptation of a book/manga/ln/vn/game/daki that didn't sound dumb as fuck.

Neat. Sounds like an easygoing school life show with a supernatural twist (as most school life VNs do, I guess). Hoping this and Grisaia turn out decent, even though VN adaptations don't really turn out that great most of the time. Always looking forward to more moege adaptations.
