Oh, absolutely. I don't know who these characters are beyond Lucy and Natsu and it was very easy to follow who everyone was and what was going on. There wasn't anything that seemed to fit into series mythology or whatever, it all made perfect sense.

sorry i had my :Sdburton(tm) glasses on ..so i got a little hyped.
Still considering the arcs they are adapting we'll have a lot of Tokiwadai classmates in .. and i can't help but to look forward to this
Been a while since I saw it but thinking disillusionment from tragedy, disappointment, and pain in their lives had them looking for something more durable given how transient the things they cared for and events that hurt them were.
eternal thing will grant them what they desire. It's individual. For instance, Miki decides he wants it after hearing Anthy recapture his childhood in piano form. He becomes obsessed with what Anthy represents. It's like trying to capture lightning in a bottle, he thinks she can give him what he's missing. It's the same for the other characters. The something eternal usually represents some kind of unattainable ideal, or one they're too lazy to work toward by themselves.
Interesting post BluWacky, and...you're probably right. Espescially about Miki. I never thought about it like that.
About Saionji though, I kinda wonder
how he and the others come to the idea that Anthy has no will of her own. I suppose it's exactly because, like you said, he never tries to actually get close to her, and thus he is never able to see her as an equal human being like Utena eventually comes to realize.
Kinda pathetic, in a way, watching people like Saionji try to attain something eternal and trying to attain the power to bring the world revolution, all while completely destroying any chance they have of doing so from the very start by viewing and treating her the way they do. They keep telling Utena that she has no idea what's actually going on, and yet they too remain completely oblivious to the game that Akio is playing with them.
Oh, so people quite liked Red Data Girl then? Admittedly this is going to be a self-selecting survey (only people interested in the show would tune into the pre-broadcast) but that's encouraging. I'll have to give it a watch sooner rather than later.
EDIT: have I completely misunderstood? The majority of people thought it was great to average, with very few people thinking it was "pretty bad" or "bad". Or is the "maa maa yokatta" vote basically saying it's pants?
Oh yeah. A friend of mine did some looking around for me, and discovered that both Yuyushiki and Aiura have both OP and ED singles. And since 5 minute series don't usually have EDs, it's likely that both are full-length series, not shorts. We're not 100% certain yet, but it seems likely.
Yuyushiki being full-length would be particularly great news (for me at least). So hyped.
More shows confirmed as 13 episodes: Devil Survivor 2, Hataraku Maou-sama, Uta no Prince-sama S2 all for Spring, and Danganropa is also listed as 13 episodes for Summer.
The first set has international sell sheets too, along with 12-episode listings for Yuyushiki and the new Samurai Girls season, though they're not as interesting as the TBS ones.
Y'know, I've never seen the two OPs as intended, only the NA ones that couldn't license the music so it's symphonic stuff that gives it a sense of almost unwarranted gravitas lol

quite literally, something from their past they no longer have. Remember episode 33 where the Shadow Girls ask Akio over the phone exactly what is something eternal. The options are a) a diamond, b) a cherished memory, and c) canned peaches. Diamonds can be broken apart if struck at correct angles, and peaches rot away with time. Eternity, in the context of Utena, represents standing still in time. It is lack of growth, remaining affirmed in one's childhood without facing the reality of adulthood.

is required to do whatever the one she's engaged requires to. I also like to believe that years and years (centuries?) of being played out by Akio have made Anthy put up a cold demeanour against everyone as a defence mechanism for her eternal torture. Anthy is just as culpable of her situation and of the perception the rest of the world has of her.
Not sure I care for the first one outside of the animation and the sexy Hizacks. Like that second one though for reasons I'm unsure of though. Maybe due to the neat Quattro cut where he removes the sunglasses then enters the shadow or the best animated version of Scirocco I've seen.

I'm actually a horrible horrible person who prefers the NA music in the first OP. Sorry everyone.
I'd also to like to take this opportunity to point out that Yasuomi Umetsu, the director of Kite and Mezzo Forte did the animation in the first OP. It's fair to say that he's a damn talented aniamtor.
I don't see anything wrong with them co-existing and if I had to choose, I'd take the NA one as it fits the whole space opera motif. Might be due to my exposure to the NA one first but but I don't think there's anything about the JP ones that leaves me thinking they're unassailable.
Nagisa just friendzoned herself with Fujipi because she was too embarrassed to confess :lol :lol
Just thought you'd want to know.
Shockingly, the string of not-terrible episodes is continuing, and I think this is the third out of the past four episodes that had a nice sakuga battle on top of everything. wtf
Sailor Moon aired on the competition channel in Mexico at the same time as Ranma 1/2 on the mainstream one. It was a difficult choice, but I had to go with
This was easily the most baffling thing about the series to me. I was watching part of that little series on youtube about Anno talking to and teaching children, all the while thinking "I just got done watching a scene that this guy wrote and directed that involved
a 14 year old boy masturbating into his hand while watching an unconscious girl."
What?
I'm bringing mecha back. I haven't seen Gurren Lagann and while I'm doing Gainax shows...
The blu ray isnt bad, watched through it last week on TV and there was only one odd visual oddity in one minor scene. Will hopefully get through part 2 this week since second half bd did arrive.
Agree. The only part where it is really super noticeable is the Princess of the Crystal parts in the backgrounds where there is some artifacting. Its not horrible.
Well when they are paired with a precure , the mascot don't use as much as focus on the story , ok it' s natural to think so since the precure take the spotlight..but having someone to keep them in check is (for me ) where the magic trully is.
Mepple has nagisa telling him to shut up ..for example.
And in case where you have mascots ( that don't eat that much screentime ) like the 2nd half of precure splashstar, they still are babies and annoying each time they appear regardless of their screen time. You feel like they serve no purpose except to be power-up .. there is no chemistry with them .. no "tsukomi-boke", nothing..
Potpourri quickly
find peace once she find her cure , and move on after she get her . She starts as a whinny cry baby and then has as much screen time as the rest of the mascots.
My theory is that "mascots" are better when paired with someone.Potpourri character changed once that happenned.
Porun would have been much better if she had someone to keep her in check. And even Shinny luminous didn't manage that because she was independant both in fighting and in term of character interractions .
Absolutely! It got a very warm reception here. The show takes a little while to get churning, but once it spools up, get ready for a crazy ride. Everything and everyone is really well connected, and its hard to predict how it will all end up.
People loved the show. They just weren't a huge fan of the first few episodes. It has a very slow start and shit doesn't get REALLY real until about halfway through.

Basically, people who actually tend to tune in to watch these things on NND are pre-disposed to actually like it, and typically the outcome will be very, very highly skewed towards being extremely positive. That the results aren't like that here casts... questions about the shows possible quality.
Wow, it seems like the movies are on a completely different level animation-wise. Are they worth watching? I'm actually debating whether to see the movies after I finish the series now.

Yokodera Youto is always thinking about his carnal desires, but no one acknowledges him as a pervert. He learns about a cat statue that supposedly grants wishes. The boy goes to pray that he will be able to express his lustful thoughts whenever and wherever he wants.
Man, it's really shocking how far back the origins of some of the perennially-reused plotlines go. They've been milking and repackaging this shit from the beginning. Even though I've been watching the franchise in (mostly) reverse order, this "field trip to a historical district/participate in a jidaigeki" episode was essentially the same as any other.
The villains are 100% hamming the fuck out of their roles now, which soothes my frustration over their poor integration into the show just the tiniest bit.
Anime is a Japanese style of animation popular around the world. Anime characters have filled television shows and comics, and inspired costumes and educational activities. The Global Precipitation Measurement Mission (GPM) and our partners at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are holding a design challenge for people around the world to develop an Anime character for GPM. You will need to learn about the GPM mission and science themes, including the water cycle, weather and climate, technology, and societal applications, and incorporate them into your Anime character design.
