Both these consoles are starting to sound like twins. I like the controller bit of info, I hope that pans out.

I misunderstood your post... sorry. You don't have to exactly copy Nvidia's approach.
You could chose to do ray / BV tests on dedicated or specialised hardware, but do ray / triangle intersection tests in a shader [edit: on more RT friendly CUs], for example.
You could also allow more developer control over acceleration structures.
I look forward to seeing AMD and Intel's approaches compared to Nvidias. Nvidia's RT cores are dead silicon if not used for RT, which is itself dependant upon accepting Nvidia's black box approach to RT. There may be a better way to integrate RT workloads into the traditional render and compute pipelines, with the necessary modifications.
Err ... come again?
I said that I think Sony and MS will have very similar implementations, both based largely on AMDs technology ...?
Like Killzone Shadowfall, Knack 1 & 2, Infamous Second Son, Driveclub, Bound , Little Big Planet 3, Hohokum, Bloodborne Tearaway Unfolded, Until Dawn, Ratchet & Clank, The Last Guardian, The Tomorrow Children, VR Worlds, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Wipeout Omega Collection, Shadow of the Colussus and the Playlink games, right? If you like linear third-person cinematic movies with gameplay sections between long cutscenes...sure.
We have to wait on Xbox to say what they have but it seems like PS5 has a lot of new features like 3d sound and the haptics, broader upgrades than just graphics and processor. Both these consoles are starting to sound like twins. I like the controller bit of info, I hope that pans out.
Out of nowhere again
Btw the Dualshock 5 details are pretty nice, hopefully the haptic feedback will be a more powerful and refined solution than the HD rumble in the Nintendo Switch, adaptive triggers are really nice as well.
Hardware accelerated ray tracing being confirmed is an other important detail although honestly it was kinda obvious except to the usual console warriors who where hoping it was not the case....there was no reason to be the first to specifically announce something they actually didn't have.
New OS/UI features are interesting, so basically people will have the possibility to directly jump into certain activities or parts of a game from the OS without the traditional "boot game->choose in a series of menus what to do->loading" sequence. Installing just the parts of a game that are of interest (single player/multiplayer, maybe just a particular language in a localization and so on) is also pretty cool.
I guess that that the next update we will get will be a proper presentation in February. Given the months passed between these two first updates the timing seems right.
It goes deeper than this... if they were to include RT cores they would not have space for all the other shader cores... they are screwed either way. If they only had magic balance tech like the others do...
Seriously, you are twisting wording that has been standard in tech for years: PS5 will have dedicated HW resources for RT, not sure what else they can say to avoid this concern “posting”... BTW, like for Scarlett and RTX, dedicated RT resources / cores have little use outside of RT the more they are optimised for a specific RT implementation.
not really. "there is ray-tracing acceleration in the GPU hardware". Well, technically, of course, you could use GPU hardware for ray-tracing, but this will kill your performance.
What you want is dedicated ray-tracing hardware cores. that's not what the PS5 is able to do. they will use resources of the GPU hardware for ray-tracing, but then you can't use those resources for other stuff.
The next Xbox (scarlett) will have dedicated ray-tracing hardware codes, see here: https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox...ated-ray-tracing-cores-says-gears-5-developer
This is a HUGE difference, like generational difference.
You're fighting windmills.lol get a life, like seriously digging out old responses? wtf? also, where does it say, that there are dedicated ray-tracing hardware cores? no where, because they are just using GPU resources for ray traying. meh.
The only thing the controller really needs is a better battery.
After all the weird hater not believing it was hardware RT Sony had to confirm a second time.
It was clear it was hardware RT when they announced few months ago.
There is no news in this article at all.
Maybe the holiday 2020? But that was the most estimations after the first article.
Sony needs a marketing video like Microsoft to solidify all the features. Humans in nature are visual learners. Wired just has words which is a weak way to present technology.
Most people don't read books these days. Attention spans have taken a nosedive. It is almost as if we never read books.![]()

It is part of HDMI 2.1 specification.Next up on the obvious proving wrong list is 8K. Sony wouldn’t state it were possible graphically and later champion it as a highlight if it weren’t possible.

It will have 8k games? I don't know maybe only 8k os to play video only or maybe Chess is made in 8k (It is already 4k in Pro).

Apparently the LG C9 looks way better than Samsungs 8K minitor that costs 10K.... was watching reviews. So 8K is probably not really worth it. But I could be wrong, it might just be the models of TV.It is part of HDMI 2.1 specification.

So will 60 FPS be the standard going forward?
Didn't MS remove this later from the video after the internet went nuts?![]()

I think the Xbox was rumored to Have similar features, but I agree, Sony is no slouch when it comes to their library. I was pretty hardcore Xbox for a while until I bought a PlayStation, now I’m pretty open to whatever because sometimes you simply don’t know what you could be missing. We have to wait on Xbox to say what they have but it seems like PS5 has a lot of new features like 3d sound and the haptics, broader upgrades than just graphics and processor.
The important thing is the games that make the most of the hardware though and I trust PS more in that regard.
But you know where I am coming from, I'm not claiming to be unbiased.
Oh absolutely, but isn't that also haptic feedback? Sorry, meant it as a catch-all for all the things they're doing with touch feedback.Adaptive pressure level on the triggers seems more interesting and innovative than both of those rumble features IMO.
Nope it's still there. Even got Richard Leadbetter to acknowledge it when he and Chris Tector (the guy who made the pixel remark) sat down and spoke about it during performance testing of the hardware.
Chis Tector Highest Quality Pixels
Backward compatibility to PS4 isn't good enough, it should go through the previous 4 iterations...one of the few good things that Xbox did was there backward compatibility program totally outclassed what was on the PS4.......Republic Commando/Jade Empire/Panzer Dragoon....still great to this day...
The PlayStation 5 controller uses a USB Type-C connector
Sounds like you have very high standards. Uncharted 4, Spider-man, Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank, Judgment, GOW, nothing impressed you?I haven't been impressed with console exclusives since last gen
PS4 had better output than the competition but thats not really saying a whole lot
The only thing the controller really needs is a better battery.
So the PlayStation 5 it's :
- CPU Zen 2 custom with 8 cores
- GPU Navi/RDNA custom
- SSD custom
- Ray Tracing Hardware support
- Up to 8K
- 4K UHD support
- 120Hz support
- Dualshock 5 with usb type-c
- 3D Audio support
- Blu-Ray physical support 4K 100 GB.
- Digital support and streaming
- Cross save
- Backward compatible with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR
- Launch at the end of 2020
Source?Just give the PS4 controller a better battery and I'm good. Good to hear that Cerny said that the price would be between $399 and $499. Still think that $399 is the sweet spot, though.

As of right now NVMe drives are cheaper than their m.2 SATA III counterparts, obviously this is not true for the top of the line PCI e 4.0 end NVMe, they come at a pretty hefty premium.NVMe is newer SSD tech. Most computers don't use them yet because they need a specific port on the motherboard so most people use SATA SSDs.
Who works at Polyphony Digital? Babies? If you had read the article, you would've seen that Polyphony Digital actually comes to the same conclusion.
An entire generation of babies. Maybe you and them should go out every once in a while, and maybe do some yard work?Having the gamepad rumble continuously is annoying and just feels bad, especially when playing longer than an hour and even more so when the rumble is way too strong.
I can't count the times I upgraded my PC just for the one game that struggled.Secondly, if I am wrong, anyone who is unable to play a game on PC with the jet going, LOL, mach 1 will just have to upgrade.
You're baiting and trying to argue in circles. You asked if it's analogous to the $100 NMVe drives, and it is. MS and Sony aren't inventing new hard drive tech, they're using NMVe.
RIP.This is exciting news, I wish GamerNyc78 and TheLastWord were here with us today to celebrate this glorious news![]()
