Witcher 3 Director has left CD Projekt following allegations of workplace bullying

If R* were putting out stuff faster than once a decade, I'd consider it.

I mean.....looking at CP2077, they might have just given the greatest reason on why Rockstar actually does that.

Red Dead 2 took a long time to make, but was made properly and moved massive units for them, broke many records and got many GOTY, I'd argue it would have gotten more if God Of War didn't release that year, either way....this shit show thats going on at CDPR is exactly why Rockstar take their time on those games.

To avoid this whole crazy shit show thats going on. I don't think people even give a fuck that it took a long time to come out, you really think thats what people are thinking during release day or something? They just don't care.

The quality needs to come first. I wish we got the same output by them as we did during the PS2 days, but those days of development are long over, what is demanded in terms of quality can no longer be some copy and paste ala renderware. How shitty CDPR's games are is making me actually quite ok with Rockstars choice. Its not easy putting out such games, why rush it to have such a garbage reception?

They are the ones that told us it was coming out when it was "ready" yet ironically they put out something that clearly needed YEARS more time to be developed. I'll take 1 Rockstar Game a decade if it means its actually good. Who the fuck cares how fast it can come out if its shit? Activision should be kings to you using that logic lol

Anyone defending workplace bullies... I mean, you can do that, I guess. But I've worked for one or two really great bosses that still pushed their employees and got stuff done. Being an asshole is not the only way to be an effective leader. Ive worked for bullies and it sucks. They weren't even that good at their job. They just used bullying as a crutch to mask their ineffectiveness at managing those around them.

rockstar has been making the same game for 20 years, since GTA III. if they didn't know how to make that game they would be in trouble. CDPR on the other never in their history made the same game twice. every witcher is different from the previous one and then they hit gold with TW3 and the next thing they do is a cyberpunk first person shooter.

shit on them all you want but they are braver than rockstar ever was.

I greatly disagree.

You could argue that shit about GTA. Different characters, settings, missions, mechanics etc.

Why did you ignore all their other IPs? We literally just got Red Dead 2.

So I'm sorry bud, using your logic, no one has ever made the same game twice lol That can be argued literally about any developer, I have no idea how such a thing can even be argued lol

Brave? They borrowed so many fucking ideas from other developers and literally failed in so many of those areas. Brave would have been stfu and actually just delaying it for years to make it a fucking game that is playable with features expected in games today vs cops appearing out of thin air lol

They can't even make a open world title using the concepts of 2001 GTA III, that isn't called brave, that is just stupid. They spent all this energy arguing that they had the "next generation of open world design" while struggling to fucking even meet 20 year old standards. Sooooooooo maybe they should have actually just took the time to make a respectable game vs lying to people, shit maybe they should have just kept making Witcher until they were even good enough to do such a concept instead of butchering that game and then blaming fans for their own fuck ups lol

Sorry bud, Rockstars put out many, many games besides GTA and has a history of many great games, not a history of lies, lawsuits and cops appearing out of thin air. CP2077 is basically a meme for shit development lol

red dead? oh you mean gta in the wild west. maybe you meant max payne 3 that would've been a good example but the ip was created by remedy. the last one was 10 years ago and they're not developing a new one.

i don't know how you can get so angry about a simple and objective statement. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Not really bud. Your claim that CDPR is making different games all called witcher is a massive reach.

You are simply mad that people see CDPR for the lying pieces of shit that they are. Be like "brave, stunning"

A great director/ developer pushed out because some sjw were probably told to focus on their job instead of virtue signaling on twitter all day.
Bruh, it's Poland, they don't have sjw shit there, they're hard and cold like the frosty soil. He was probably just being a cunt.

i'm not mad at all. you are not even trying here :messenger_tears_of_joy:

cdpr took risks with every single game they made. sometimes they pay off sometimes they don't. i value that more than rockstar aka gta III for 20 years. you know when rockstar went from GTA 2 to GTA III they took a risk. i'd like more of that.

i'm not saying rockstar makes bad games. i'm saying they are great and polished because they have been using the same formula for decades. cyberpunk on the other hand was just the second open world game from cdpr and the first one that was set in a city with traffic, police and all the things we know to expect from a modern setting. on top of that the gameplay is completely different from anything they made before. the dialogue system is different. the way quests work is different.

now compare that to rockstar mission failed mission failed mission failed 20 year old design. to the 20 year old Initials on a Map. to the 20 year old i arrive to the mission location and a cutscene starts.

Quality needs to come first, sure. But quality costs and hardcore gamers aren't willing to pay to get that quality. Which is why we get rushed projects and MVP style releases if we ever want to see anything new being done.

So I'd rather CDPR keeps doing what they're doing, with both W3 and 2077... Go big and patch in due time. The way CDPR released 2077 is not something new, they did the same with W3 on consoles. Keep doing that, it's clearly working.

CDPR looks like a textbook example of growing too big, too quickly, without changing internal studio mechanics to deal with the expansion. What can work in a small 25-head garage company doesn't work in a 200-strong one. There's a lot more inertia and various other centrifugal forces which start popping up their heads.
And this isn't even mentioning bad practices derived from learning the wrong lessons. The studio always had issues with retention. Something like a quarter of the staff left after the first Witcher. Unless I'm mistaken, they founded the company which made This War of Mine. And more others left after The Witcher 2. There are some leadership issues which need to be worked out.
