Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

Man, can you just imagine entering some town or village with dozens, houndreds of NPCs there and all of them would use Hairworks - GTX 980 : 0 fps :D I imagine that those Hairworks have maybe 10 important characters in the whole game - Geralt, Yen, Triss, Ciri, and some more.. but yeah, 95% of all characters are going to have normal hair

Good point.

Second part of Hairworks :D

Another redhead :)

She has more of an average woman look to her and that is refreshing to see.

Nope, it's Mia Sollis.

Thanks for clarifying that, kept bugging me :D She shares a lot facial features with Rose, at least when looking at avatar sized pic.

Edit: Came into mind, official box art doesn't have clear number 3 in front anywhere. Stylized take on Wild Hunts helmet serves as number. I think that is very clever box art design and encourages newcomers to pick it up and look at it. If it said blatantly "Witcher 3" it could discourage people from taking a look.

It wouldn't work that way though, just like anything else, it would be an LOD thing. Once the object is within a certian distance of the camera, hairworks kicks in. You can even have an escalation of complexity as the model gets nearer and nearer the camera.

That's how this tech is likely to be handled in the future.

Am I the only one who isn't particularly impressed by hairworks? It just looks way too shiny, clean, and super sensitive to movement imo. I didn't like TressFX in Tomb Raider:DE either...so maybe it's just me. :P

Actually, tell a lie, I think it looks pretty damn good on some monsters, but that newest video showing it up-close on Geralt looks really odd to me.

I think it's one of the better "next-gen hair" implementations I've seen so far. TressFx didn't really look that great to me and other games quoted as having good hair (like AC:U) have serious lighting issues that never quite fit with the scene.

The graphics in this video are just... wow. I am going to play this beauty on the PS4, so it won't be as gorgeous, but all that downgrade nonsense can be thrown in the bin and forgotten.

Yeah, it truly is gorgeous to my eyes and although I'm sure some things have been tweaked upwards or downwards here or there the overall game looks as good as it ever did. More importantly, it looks like an amazing adventure filled with interesting stories and awesome gameplay.

man i want to get this game for pc but no idea if its worth it, like if it'll be better then what my ps4 can do (referring to my computer would need someones advice on if its worth)

I have a msi 970/i5 4460 haswell/ 8 gigs of ram but yeah if it isn't im just going to get the ps4 version.

Still not sure how I feel about the nights being so bright. Sure, it's more casual friendly, but I'd rather have Geralt given ability to widen his pupils manually to see in the dark or something. Now it seems like the fullmoon is every night. Maybe someone can mod it a bit darker, and while hes at it make the day-night cycle way longer. I like exploring hours and hours in the dark ;_;

Processor is a bit lackluster but still far superior to PS4, and everything else is high-ultra specs. I'd expect 45-60ish fps on HIGH with 1080p, while maybe lowering some CPU heavy effects. Depends a lot on how CPU heavy the game is. Could drop some frames in the city for example.

Vastly superior to the ps4, get it on PC friend.

Couldn't lore be stretched that nights seem bright because of Geralts mutated eyes that allows him to see better in dark, but in truly pitch black caves even he needs help from potions like Cat?

Stretching lore little bit here, adding gameplay mechanics little bit there... ^^

IDK guys, don't think this game could use a 2x2 gaussian filter over everything and some film grain?

Those NPCs would look extra real then.

Haha yeah, more of that..lol

Seriously, though, that might make it more film-like, but being more film-like doesn't equate to better graphics as some people seem to think.

Sure, and that even makes sense. However, I'd still enjoy having the option of looking at the sun setting and the world around getting darker up to a point I cannot see around me.

Is that stretching? I thought that was exactly the case.

Thought that was the whole point of the Witchers having those yellow, slit eyes. Didn't they go through a particular trial to gain them, or something?

Thought I read that on the wiki a while back.

By the way, still only on Chapter III of the first game. ._.

I read in this thread that in books Geralt doesn't need help from potions like Cat in order to see in dark, but tbh I didn't fact check.
He see in darkness without Cat potion, but when he fight at night he use potions to enhance vision even further (not only vision but smell and other senses too)

So, are we going to be able to pre-load this game on PSN? I probably won't be playing it as soon as it comes out, but I'm still curious.

German geralt sounds really bland, and not in a good kind of way.
I cry everytime I think it could have gotten a castillian spanish dub if the first game would have been done right with some of the amazing actors we have and havent contracted a bunch of amateurs to do the job (it was seriously bad and german geralt reminded me of spanish geralts voice, ugh...).
And would even be more amazing if the translator was the same person that transalted the books here.
But not, we will probably also have the mediocre translation job like in the witcher 2.
At the end of the day I will have to play this in english again, subs and everything, even if I hate how they changed character and places names in that version. At least english Geralt sounds like I always read him in the books.

Steam, GOG and PS4 are guaranteed to get preload, my money is on week before launch.

Origin and uPlay most likely get preload too.

Still no console footage?

I was just about to ask this. Either the console footage will be great or a huge letdown. Just meh would be unexpected considering how closely they are guarding it.

Also kind of weird that they are sending out PS4 copies for review despite the game having a Xbox marketing deal.

Upclose Geralt Hairworks at 33:30.
So good.

Edit: Also comparison between hairworks on/off at ~35 minutes

Lol, is non hariworks hair just permanently on fan in your face mode?

He's inside the house and while hairworks hair looks normal, regular hair it looks like he's standing over a bluff overlooking an ocean ;)

At this point we really have to wait for someone that gets the game early.. its really sad.

Game is not out for 2 1/2 weeks. Calm down.

True, but this is basically unheard as long as I have been following games. You would think at least Xbox One version would be shown off by now.

The only reasoning I can think of behind for this is it looks significantly worse than what they are showing now. I really hope I'm wrong about that. People that have seen the console versions say it looks great so I probably am wrong.

what are the people with the 980s going for? 1080p/60 or 1080p/30 with all the Nvidia features turned on?

After gameplay videos I don't think the problem is the framerate but the stuttering. So is not 60 neither 30. Is a roller coaster with every possible number.

They say everything Ultra 1080p 60 FPS.

But we hear the build that was played that wa sonly true if hairworks wasn't enabled. At the same time the devs say thay plan on getting there, they're still optimizing hairworks.

My guess is that they'll stil working out how it should work when more than one hairworks mesh is on screen at a time, but this is me just hypothesising, they haven't said anythign concrete.

Didn't that FAQ say all Witcher 3 retail copies would need activation on GOG.com so absolutly nobody can play the game before release? No early gameplays and opinions then I'd say?

They're probably still optimizing those platforms.
