Witcher 3: Official Gameplay Trailer

Hey guys I have a question.

I'm gonna get this game on the PS4, I have a Japanese ps4, but wanna get the Asian release of the game because it'll be a bit cheaper,

but if I want to download the DLC, will I need to use the Hong Kong store? or can I do it from the US because I have a US account as my PSN.

DLC has to be from the same region as the game.

Anyone know how customizable the HUD is on PS4?

It's opaque and over-colored, with every enemy having a big red health bar, damage numbers and effect names popping over your head with every move, their name in red, their level, and then the opaque bars and minimap. I hate lots of color-coding with various primary colors and totally opaque. Information overload, and lack of artistic restraint.

Answer - you can turn off/on probably every thing when it comes to HUD... and:

Console version of the game giving users customization options for HUD? What is this madness!

Achievements list is out for TW3. I dont see anyone talking about it here.
Maybe its against the rules.

Stop teasing like that and drop the link. Afaik linking those kinda leaks is ok around here, but then I'm relatively new member :b

Edit: Fished link up with quicky google, CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS! http://www.xboxachievements.com/game/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/achievements/

I didnt knew it wasnt against the rules, or I would have added a link. Neogaf is usually very quick with these things, so I thought maybe it was against the rules.

Achievements are mostly spoiler-heavy so people tend to avoid them.

These ones are not spoilery at all. Its all gameplay achievements. Story/secret achievements are blank atm.

Even that stuff is considered as spoilers by many as those things give details about amount Xs and Ys etc. so they avoid even them. Link is ok with good warnings about spoilery content and if you copy paste stuff like achievement then spoiler tag it.

I know a number of people have expressed in the thread they didn't think very highly of of it, so you're definitely not alone.

Personally I think his voice acting has overall been fantastic in every piece of footage we've seen, but being a "Cockle Geralt" fan, I'm absolutely bias.

I agree, geralts voice is probably one of my favourites in gaming. Perfectly fits the character imo.

Witcher 2 didn't fully sell me on Geralt as a character, but, even so, I do think his voice (and, at least in W2, the acting) fits him really really well.

In the recent W3 trailer he sounds a little flat, but I think that's on purpose due to the deadpan humor of many of the lines they've featured.

Never played the Witcher series, if I enjoyed Skyrim will I like this?

Probably, but I suspect they've some pretty important differences in the design nuances that might impact your enjoyment.

Fundamentally they share a lot of similarities. You've a big, open world to explore with a lot of populated areas, secrets, dungeons, caves, treasures, etc. You level up your character, choosing equipment and play style. There's a lot of narrative/dialogue to interact with.

But there's also likely some major differences. Skyrim arguably has more build diversity in that you can be the stealth bow guy, sword shield guy, magic staff guy. Whereas The Witcher is always the one guy, sword/magic/potions/bombs, and your upgrade path will decide which you specialise in first. The world is likely to be a lot more unforgiving, in that while Skyrim quite readily let you wander almost anywhere at any point, Wild Hunt will populate the landmass with very difficult dungeons, monsters, etc that you'll have a very hard time fighting until you level up and come back later.

They're open world RPGs, and CDPR hasn't shied away from saying they were inspired by Skyrim, but they're also very different.

The major difference is probably that The Witcher 3 is a story-heavy game featuring a lot of cutscenes and dialogue while Skyrim is more on the sandbox side of the spectrum.

I would say that the witcher 3 is more like dragon age(inquisition mostly) or neverwinter nights but with action combat and an established player character with his own narrative. You also role play a witcher, rather than some tolkien archtype.

Everyones favorite youtubers are being flown out to CDPR to play the game for two days. They'll be filming their own footage so there will probably be a ton of new videos in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully, without the wub wub.

I think this comparison is pretty spot on. From my experince playing many different open world RPGs, Witcher 3 seems like it will follow the path of Gothic 1 and 2 more so than Skyrim. Which were awesome games, but if you went to an area before you were ready the game would destroy you.

Cool, I suppose it's a new effect if you drink potions until the toxicity level is at maximum. I don't remember them doing that in the past games.

Yep. From GameInformer:

“Geralt's face actually changes the higher his toxicity is,” CD Projekt’s lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz tells us. “As you know, Witcher elixirs are highly toxic, and could kill a human if he/she drank one. Witchers are more resistant to this toxin, but it does influence them. In game you have this ‘toxicity bar,’ which shows you how intoxicated Geralt is.”

The potions take a toll on Geralt, and you won’t need a bar on the user interface to monitor how he’s doing. “The higher the toxicity bar, the more those toxic changes show on Gerald’s face,” Tomaszkiewicz says. “His face becomes unnaturally pale, his veins become visible and seem to be black, dark circles appear under his eyes, etc.”

A game like Skyrim is also about letting the player experience everything the game has to offer on a single character. Choices do not carry much weight in the overall scheme of the world and you rarely find yourself having to commit to any one path.

If TW3 follows the same route as its predecessors, it will have no problem locking off content and even big story revelations and plot points based on what choices you make.

After the first round of cringe-inducing American twang dialogue, dissapearing bra and racism I was ready to type out my being offended and faux outrage.

Then I soon realized this is intentionally hilarious and gave it a thumbs up.

They trolled me hard.

You forgot about IGN's dubstep Witcher 3 video from the other day. I LOL'D.

His beard hair looks so good but his actual hair looks so out of place.

It needs lighting to it or something. It looks very flat.

Lara's hair with Tress FX looked much less flat.

Holding out hope they will improve it, but this late in the game looks like they won't.

Oh well, its not that it looks bad, for video game hair it looks pretty good in fact.

It's just that the rest of the game looks so good, and fur looks so good, and then you have Hair Works being hyped up, and you get this..

I agree, it doesn't look too great in that shot. I don't think that's using Hairworks, though.

Either way, I think it generally looks quite good in most other instances.

I just know they're going to make us choose between Triss and Yennifer and that is going to be one hell of a difficult decision to make... I bet it will be timed as well. There is no way i can choose!

Lara's PS4 hair was my fav. Had a decent improvement on TressFX over last gen and PC.

Also I'd say Alice Madness Returns has cool, though whimsical hair.

I don't agree. I have Tomb Raider on PC and the Definitive Edition on PS4 and the PS4 version definitely has some improvements, but the hair isn't one of them. The hair on the PS4 version seems less refined and more wiry, as if there were fewer stands. Also, it seems like they somewhat simplified the physics of the hair movement. This makes it a bit less glitchy, but also less accurate.

Eh. I own em both as well and found the hair improved, although it did have less strands.

Awesome! New The Witcher 3 videos are gonna be posted starting on 4/20.......speaking of 4/20....

I wonder if overdosing affects gameplay.

Sorry about that. They should be working now. They show what I'm talking about.

I'm curious what you liked better about it. Was it the fact it was a darker brown? :-P

In any case, it looked really good in both games and I'm sure we can all agree that it would be nice if we had more hair like that in games.

I don't think the difference was huge and both look good so I would indeed welcome more of any hair like those (I only have PS4 and the 360+PS3 versions, so I have always made this judgment from comparison videos like this and older footage of PC from before Definitive Edition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxEwUBPh-bA)

But to me, PC seems quite a bit more prone to blowing around when it shouldn't and separating on her shoulders. It just seems like it splits up and floats too easily for the environments and motions she was making. Scenes where she isn't turning around particularly fast on PC throw the whole thing into the wind.

From the video:

Also personally, the lighter color on PC footage emphasized the reflective, "Pantene hair" look where it seems quite radiant (both versions look like clean hair, but the lighter tone made it appear even more studio lit to me). Personally I didn't catch glitchy scenes on PC with it, but I've seen it mentioned by users that TressFX has trouble when Lara is upside down and it goes a bit wilder when this occurs on PC.
