Witcher 3: Official Gameplay Trailer

Who the hell does the encoding for their videos. It is appaling:

66rtp2q.jpg

Yeah, the video quality is pretty poor, but at least the music is more fitting this time and the combat itself looks awesome.

Seriously. I don't really understand how a 1080p video can look so blurry.

Forget blurry. It is full of smudges and macroblocking, it goes beyond blurry, there is no discernible difference between 480p and 1080p. it is a crap encode even at 480p.

Maybe. The PSN/SEN Store terrifyingly reads:

1 PLAYER
50GB MINIMUM
DUALSHOCK®4 VIBRATION FUNCTION
HD VIDEO OUTPUT 1080P
REMOTE PLAY SUPPORTED

What it says in Steam

What it says in GOG

If those or PSN Store are wrong they will be updated with accurate information closer to release.

Probably already mentioned but the achievement list got out.

Surprisingly a lot of *gameplay content spoiler*

. Hopefully they'll make that interesting

Isn't somebody going to be doing a new QA with CDP? Someone should ask them what the download size of the game will be. That is, the amount of data we'll actually have to download, and if that 35GB PC requirement is representative of that (HDD requirement isn't always the same as download size).

I guess we'll finally know when the pre-load is up.

I preordered from GOG but haven't been on the site since. Anyone know when we get the preorder bonus stuff. I know there r some videos for download you get and all that. Are those available yet?

Witcher 3 has no online component, right?

Right, no online play of any kind.

Yep... and for that I'm happy. I mean what got my attention first of all was an article 2 years ago with them saying they did not want to do an MP component cause they wanted to focus all their efforts on making the best SP experience they could.

I appreciate a company that still wants to make a good SP game and even doesn't try to tack on an MP element in favor of spending all their energy on the SP component.

That is literally what got me first paying attention and researching Witcher and interested and wanting to like the game(s).

Seems that the most difficult trophy is finishing the game on that highest level difficulty, considering it's lengthy.

What's so bad about it?

bro... everything is bad about it. clunky stealth, slow tutorial, restrictive linear gameplay... just generally shallow in terms of gameplay and story(aside from when you first meet Letho). Witcher 2 is in my top 3 games of all time... and even i can admit that the start is not just slow, but actively annoying.

Easily to forget the game is only a few days shy of one month away. Really kind of snuck up on me, I guess because I'd gotten into a routine of seeing bits and pieces of the game every couple of months for the last two years. A long time of drip fed info and footage. I remember that first reveal art:

And the first shots:

Opposite of downgrade confirmed.

I just saw some gameplay footage from IGN--beasts demonstration. While the combat is faster and more polished, enemies still have that damn hyper-armor. I am not implying that they should be stun-locked to death, but having them tank hits indefinitely is annoying.

That's always been my issue with the "weight" of the combat. There's never any feedback. Enemies don't react to being hit.

Lol first shots were using TW2 renderer. They were very underwhelming IMO.

Then the game started to look godlike.

Then went to looking great.

How so? To my eyes and analysis the new footage looks at least as good as, if not better than, pretty much anything they've ever shown for the game. Did you see my comparison between the Sword of Destiny trailer and new gameplay trailer a few pages back? http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=159900976 The new trailer easily matches the Sword of Destiny trailer.

There's only one scene from previous trailers that hasn't been equaled in my opinion and it's this one:
But I never considered that scene a possibility. It looks too good, and is so far ahead of pretty much anything else we've seen in real-time graphics that it's hard to take it seriously.

But everything other than that scene has been matched by the newer footage.

That is completely achievable in realtime, it is just happens to be a very opportune area to show off a number of the effects (translucency, semi volumetric fogs, SSR on the water). I bet that area, or one extremely similar to it is in the game.

For example:
Just imagine a lake in the middle of this valley instead of the gulley filled with fog. Also, make it sunnier.

Yeah, I kind of overstated it. I do think it's achievable on current hardware. It just looks so good that I was somewhat doubtful they could pull it off in the final game at that level of fidelity. I mean, I can see the composition of the scene and what techniques they are using, but it just results in something that looks so incredible to me.

But you're right, that scene might still be in the game for all we know. That's why all this downgrade talk is unwarranted and premature. Let's wait for the game to come out and then we can do a reasonable comparison.

Edit: That's funny, I finally saw your webm and it turns out that it was from the same area as the gif I kept trying to upload for comparison.

I know what you mean. If there was a lake in the middle with screen space reflections and it was sunnier so that we saw more translucency on the trees/vegetation it would indeed look very similar to the first shot I posted.

looks better than the awful PAX footage for sure, but still far from the level of visual fidelity shown in the vgx trailer and nvidia trailers

That's so completely untrue. The main thing that's impressive about the VGX trailer is that it's composed of mostly cutscenes. Other than that fact, the little gameplay it seems to show isn't any more impressive than the newest trailer.

particles, lighting, fur, water, vegetation, lod are all leagues better in the vgx and nvidia trailers

the most current footage in no way matches up to this.

The biggest change from the initial trailers to now is not so much graphical fidelity as it is the fact that they removed a lot of the colored filters. Early footage had a lot of extra color flair, like TW2 did. Over time they removed that and everything has a much more neutral tone. I mean, look how incredibly saturated initial screenshots were:

We've seen this town since and it looks nearly identical... just not nearly as green.

However, I am curious to see if this area still exists:

This is what I actually like about Bethesda/Zenimax. Basically all their games, even the ones from other teams working with them, have been games you can enjoy in their entirety without an internet connection save for DLC. And one of those games (Skyrim) sold 30 million copies. I think only RAGE had multiplayer (I'm not even completely sure about that).

So there is somekind item scaling in sense that when you pick up sword at e.g. level 17 and it will scale its stats to level 17 so you can use it immediately, but sword would have been originally intended for level 21. When you ding level 18 sword still will have level 17 stats.

I hope I got that right from this GameTrailers Q&A.

Also underwear is mandatory for Geralt as devs decided against dicks :D
