I've not seen The Kings Speech. What's in it that could be so bad that it warrants an R rating? I'm assuming a lot of swearing.
I haven't seen it, but there is apparently one or two scenes with some f-bombs. That's it.

Tell us how this compares to the horror film genre, KSwizzle. I know it'll be the biggest non ghostbusters horror comedy domestically but what else.It has definitely tapped into the zeitgeist. People aren't going to see it because they're hearing it's a great horror film, they're going because they hear it's a smart analysis of race in America while wearing a sort of horror film skin. As such, I don't think it can/should really be compared to other horror films because people aren't primarily seeing it for the thrills or scares, they're going for the social commentary.

Safe to assume that Beauty and the Beast will be Disney's biggest film not named Star Wars this year? Or am I underestimating Cars 3?
Beast$7.2M on Monday for Logan. Doctor Strange made $6.2M on its first Monday. X-Men Origins Wolverine made $5.5M on that first Monday. X2 made $6.5M.
The other X-Films with similar openings opened on Holiday weekends.
Some of it depends on what you consider a horror film I guess. Assuming that you don't count the more action focused stuff (Ghostbusters, I Am Legend, Gremlins, World War Z, etc), here are the top domestic Horror films:
1) The Exorcist - $233M domestic
2) What Lies Beneath - $155M
3) The Blair Witch Project - $141M
4) The Conjuring - $137M
5) Split - $134M (likely to move up 1-2 more spots)
6) The Ring - $129M
7) The Grudge - $110M
8) Paranormal Activity - $108M
9) Paranormal Activity 3 - $104M
10) Scream - $103M
Get Out is Already ahead of Split after two weekends, despite opening $6.5M lower. Unless things drastically change in the next week or two, we are probably looking at a new #2 on that list.

Underestimating GotG 2. But I do think Beauty and the Beast will top it and easily top Cars 3.
Sixth Sense might as well be in there.
Beast
I really do wonder if Kong is going to take any sort of measurable bite out of Logan's 2nd weekend.
The word of mouth on it is crazy.
On Kong? I thought Logan was excellent but I'm having trouble getting some to come with me to see Kong on Friday night!
I'm not sure that KONG is going to cross over into the larger audience the way Godzilla did a few years ago..., before falling off a cliff the next weekend admittedly.
Logan is going to be over The Wolverine's domestic and worldwide total by the end of this coming weekend.
Does Kong show his dong?Goddddddddddddamn
Also Logan is way better than Kong so there's that

I'm curious to see what Kong does. 40M is projected and that's terrible.
No Logan's word of mouth.

What about Chips?I have a feeling that if KONG can get a $40m opening and finish it's North American run at around $90m or so WB would probably live with it.
Given that this is leading into a Godzilla V Kong mash-up film (and WB are minority financiers of this) as long as this doesn't shit the bed completely the studio would probably settle for having international markets doing all the heavy lifting at the box office.
I feel like Life and GITS are going to be the big losers this March.
Ahh, I wasn't sure.
That makes sense.
What about Chips?
I still don't know who the market is for that movie...
21 Jump Street fans who are willing to settle for less?
I mean it's a bit of a stretch but at least that sense of humor catered to the fans who grew up on 21 Jump Street at the time
I mean like I was in my late 20s when that came out and remember the show.
Chips is from the 70s... with teenage humor....
We'll see
I think Chips could be good. Hit & Run was entertaining as hell, and that didn't have Michael Pena.
There was apparently some about of buzz for the project within the studio so it's possible that the trailers just haven't done it justice and this could break out..., but I'd surprised if it did Jump Street numbers.
Looks like it's for people who liked Let's Be Cops and 21/22 Jump Street. What about Chips?

$8.6M for Logan on Tuesday, putting it at $104M domestic. Logan should go into its second weekend with around $115M domestic.
Tuesday is typically special-price day, right? How often does Tuesday go up (especially by that much) over Monday?
$82M domestic on a $18M opening and $17M budget.
