Avatar had close to an 80% 3d share, but the portion of IMAX and large format tickets was lower. I would imagine that its average ticket price was in the same general ball park as the Force Awakens, with ticket inflation and less Imax compensating for large 3d.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now officially #4 of all time worldwide with a WW gross of $1.536B

Domestic total is now $750.2M, so Monday did end up around $8.0M.

As an aside, the rumor about Daredevil season 2 premiering the same day as BvS is so fucking hilarious to me. Could that actually hurt BvS' opening weekend?

It will be earlier than that. Say $50M on the low end for Tues-Thurs worldwide (Monday was $22M, but overseas territories typically get new releases on Wed-Thurs so I expect those days to drop off some). Low end domestic this weekend will be $40M. Low end overseas for holdovers should also be $35-40M. That's already knocking on Jurassic World's doorstep without factoring in the first two days of China's gross.

I'm expecting TFA to move up to #3 of all time by Saturday. Sunday would be the worst case scenario.

it's totally ridiculous imo

I'm super hyped for Daredevil season 2 but I'm going to take the 3 hours out of my time to watch fucking batman vs superman. daredevil isn't going anywhere.

Doubtful. Live events on TV can impact the box office (Super Bowl, Oscars, etc) but I cannot imagine a show that is so easily time shifted will have any impact.

I forgot about that small territory. Yes, it should be #3 this weekend.

That was a way bigger cultural moment than another season of Daredevil. It was also a live fight. If you didn't watch it live, there was no point in watching it at all. Daredevil, on the other hand... what's the real rush?
You dont fear the black bars? SPOILERS WILL GET YAH

What about the black bars in real life? You know those water cooler conversations that suddenly go quiet when you approach. Yeah ... what about those.

A superhero show appearing on Netflix the same day as the biggest comic book movie of the year shares a lot more in common with Free Comic Book Day or Asylum knock offs like Transmorphers (ignoring quality of course) piggybacking off similarly huge releases than it does a major sports event competing for viewer attention. Netflix is hoping that people come home from BvS hyped for more superheroes, and then decide to check out their newest superhero season on Netflix.

Interesting. So where would is place in an all time admissions list? I remember BOM saying around the time that it's admissions were around where TDK's were.

I wasn't comparing it to DD, just pointing out the different mediums fallacy.

You tried to argue that Daredevil could hurt the box office for one of the biggest releases of next year. When called out on it you brought up the fucking Mayweather fight as if one of the biggest sporting events ever was in anyway comparable to a new batch of episodes from a Netflix show.

You used a bad example to support a bad argument.

Asking if it could potentially hurt it isn't the same thing as arguing that it would. You're arguing in extremes, I called you out on it, and now you're backpedaling by putting words in my mouth.

And then you got answered, and then you questioned the answer, and then someone pointed out your questioning of the answer didn't make any real sense.

No, Daredevil premiering on Netflix the same day as Batman v. Superman will not damage Batman v. Superman's box-office.

How much we thinking TFA drops from Monday to Tuesday?

Discount Tuesday. Increase.

I'm on my phone running errands right now, so I should have said I wasn't comparing DD to the Mayweather fight in the same post I brought up that point. I definitely would have if I were at my computer.

I never meant for my question to be interpreted as DD affecting it in a significant way, but more along the lines of the people on the fence who may have wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of opening weekend.

I apologize for not being more clear initially. And admittedly, the demographic I'm referring to is likely very small. Just thought I'd spark discussion.

Interesting. So where would is place in an all time admissions list? I remember BOM saying around the time that it's admissions were around where TDK's were.

Avatar's average ticket price was around $10, so figure 75M admissions give or take. The Dark Knight admission estimate on BOM is 74.2M. IMAX was about 4% of the domestic gross, so that brings in slightly down to 73.5M. Both are probably within the same margin of error, considering these are rough estimates.

You're a cool cat. No need to apologize, we had some jokes poking fun around you.

Atleast you didnt condescend as to equating gamers to having some incapability ... shifty eyes.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Thanks guys, so judging by the recent result 900-930 million is where TFA should stand at the end of its domestic run? Impressive.

I keep forgetting that's a thing.

Saw Creed on a preview screen on a Tuesday night and couldn't understand why the theater was crawling with Wal-Marters.

Yo what's wrong with Discount Tuesday bruh

Why you gotta look down on me and mine

I saw Creed on a Tuesday prescreening too. I wonder why they pick that day?
