The problem with De Niro is that he only makes trash. If he made good stuff and trash it would be easier to accept.

Fuck you Bobby D. I used to love you.

Did he have a really expensive divorce or something? I don't understand how he could be so desperate for money. Desperate enough to throw his once revered name straight into the trash with his past decade of pure dogshit movies.

I suppose these guys have a style of life that requires some steady/high income.

He's doing more boxing shit

I actually watched De Niro's The Intern. It's a fairly decent dramedy-type of movie, and he's okay in it.

Next Week:

Revenant was a decent film, a nice solid 7/10 imo but let's face it, the better movie won.

The Force Awakens had better pacing, better characters and better cinematography. The critic reviews reflect this. Poor Leo.

Better cinematography? You might wanna rethink that. The Revenant has some scenery to behold.

Sicario has the best cinematography of the year. Scratch that; in years.

Star Wars has great imagery crafted by someone who clearly understands the source material and wanted to tell important elements of the story through shots as much as through dialogue. It was endearing.

Revenant's cinematography feels like someone decided to be edgy.

well, acting is what he knows and it's his passion. The roles you are expecting from him are going to younger guys like DiCaprio, and he's probably too expensive for Tarantino. He seems to have no interest in directing, also, so what's left?

he stays getting steady paid, tho. U mad, bro? ;P

1B domestic dream is dead. TFA needs 33% weekly drops from here on, which is close to impossible.

960-980M domestic and a shot a 1B domestic with re-release with 37% weekly drops, again thats almost not possible, we shall see.

I'm revising down my final total for TFA from 960M to 935M.

I never begrudge an actor for taking parts and working, but the issue with De Niro is that he's just not great anymore. What's the last role you loved him in? For me, maybe Meet the Parents in 2000 or Analyse This in 1999, but those were hardly Oscar caliber performances.

And I really liked him in The Intern, but it's a far cry from Travis Bickle/Jake LaMotta-era De Niro.

Well China numbers are in and unless it has amazing legs in China (Which I highly doubt) TFA is not taking down Avatar WW.

this is EXACTLY what you are doing, tho.

De Niro should show some dignity. Imagine Robert Duvall starring in Dirty Grandpa. You can't.

u act like Duvall would be given the time of day...? the fact is: as an aging actor you do what you can. Should he just pack it in and die? People need to get off his dick. Damn. There are no roles out there, which is why Eastwood writes/directs his own shit. DeNiro can't do that, so he does what he can. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I ain't mad bro. His performances from the past decade scream desperation, not passion. It's just sad seeing a once great actor doing shit movies like 'Dirty Grandpa'. He should have enough cash to just enjoy the rest of his life and/ or be a lot more selective in the roles he says yes to.

There's going to be a whole generation of people that only think of DeNiro as a shitty actor that was in a bunch of shitty movies.

No, I am not. I am disappointed in his performances in the past 15 years.

You didn't like him in Silver Linings Playbook? What do you want him to do just sit at home until he gets meatier roles that might not come his way? Acting is his job and he obviously enjoys working. He paid his dues 100000X over.

I wonder if Disney is underestimating TFA's Sunday again. Either way, impressive for it to break $40 million after that Friday.

Still didn't break Avatar 4th week record of 50M and won't break weekend records from here on out.

Not that it means a whole lot....

HIs legacy is set in stone. 20 years from now people are only going to remember Raging Bull, Godfather 2, Taxi Driver and Goodfellas, not all the crappy stuff. He's probably doing stuff that is easy and pays well. He's 72. Most people his age are retired, not in their prime.

If you can't pronounce their name, don't trust them with a movie budget, dammi-*is punched*

And De Niro's choices in films these last few years tell me he wants to do mostly comedy now. That's all.

Who would've thought that Daddy's Home would gross north of $200M when all is said and done ww? Crazy.

Pan & Jupiter am cry

Kind of unfair to compare it to Avatar's weekends now when it's already made $50 million more dollars than Avatar did in its entire run.

TFA would be doing really well if it had -40% drops the rest of the way out.

I think everyone knew this movie wouldn't have the holds that Avatar did (I honestly don't know why though... TFA is far better).

The big questions now are is $1B possible, and will it beat Titanic?

OR that's all that's being offered. Not sure why in the hell this bug people? The man is 72 and he enjoys working. More power to him.

It's easier to have softer drops if your opening weekend isn't huge, which isn't the case with TFA. If TFA would have had Avatar holds then we would be looking a domestic total of about 1.5B.

1B is out of the picture I think, Titanic WW still up for grabs.

Are we seriously going into why TFA isnt holding as well as Avatar again

Tldr; because nobody else ever has because that shit actually GAINED during weekends

$1 billion would require extremely good legs. Avatar made $320 million from this point, Jurassic World made $100 million. TFA needs to split the difference at $180 million, which will be hard when it's already made so much and probably getting close to audience saturation.

Maybe TFA is front-loaded because everybody went to go see it ASAP. Very few people that were going to see it saw it later than 3 weeks out I think. It was quite literally a must-see movie which explains how it broke so many damn records so quickly.

Approx tickets sold for TFA is around 15% higher than Avatar already despite being only 7% total higher at this point.

Nobody is doubting that. I mean it's a very well known IP. It's Star Wars.

Translation: TFA was as heavily front loaded as I and others thought it would be. TFA is behaving like a heavily anticipated blockbuster, complete with predictable drops.

Avatar behaved how it fucking chose to. No one knew week to week what was coming.

Well, almost every movie ever is frontloaded compared to Avatar. And TFA had the biggest opening weekend of all time, so that frontloads things even more. Its multiplier is going to get close to 4 which is actually extremely good for an opening weekend of that size(obviously). Previous opening weekend record holders had multipliers of about 3 which TFA already surpassed last week.

There's been a continuous trend towards more front-loaded blockbusters. Fear of spoilers because of morons on Facebook?
