Because like the AO rating on games: NC-17 = box office death. Granted, I haven't really looked at Shame's take but I can't remember it getting a huge showing in America.

I watched the SpongeBob movie and...it was decent. Kinda misleading how most of the advertising was about CGI while most of the movie was 2D Animation, but it feels good to see a 2D Animated movie hit #1.
Not as good as the first one, but it is far better than the post-movie episodes that Nickelodeon has been milking for years. The movie is obviously targeted toward kids, but they made a couple nods to some things from seasons 1-3 like
I was certain Jupiter Ascending would either be a hit or a bomb, no middle ground. There was a strong possibility of the Twilight-type crowds to be all over it, but apparently that's not happening. It sure ain't getting a sequel, that's for sure.

No, the 90 mil number was for the 4 day holiday, Universal said they were expecting about 60 for the weekend. Curious to see how bad it's legs are. I mean they are definitely going to move ahead with 2 and 3.
Lol. 80 million dollar R-rated action movie with Colin Firth and Taron Egerton destroys a 180 million dollar PG-13 space opera with Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum.

Yeah, it may not be a big tentpole movie for them but it's already easily very profitable considering the budget's just $40 million. Sequels will easily be profitable too.

I'm pretty sure it's a sub-40 million dollar R-rated action movie with Colin Firth and Taron Egerton, BOM are the only ones who have reported the budget being 80 whilst producers and Vaughn has talked about it being in Kick-Ass budget range (~30 million).
