Read the last line of the post you responded to.
hugh jackman's robot ends up the champion after going the distance against a technically superior robot

Good movie though, and either one of your endings vaguely describe nearly every movie where there's a competition.

Then what the fuck is TacticalFox talking about?

That is my description in #1--Hugh Jackman's robot beats the odds and "wins the game."

atom didn't technically win the fight.... its exactly what happened in Rocky setting up the obvious sequel. People's champion doesn't equal champion. A more correct description would be he lost the match but won the crowd.

They lose the fight, but the tarnish the reputation of the champion, and the judges unfairly went for the champ instead of Hugh, who by all means beat the champs' ass. He only got to see his kid one last time, and its implied that the kid stays with his Aunt and Uncle

Right, basically what I said without completely spoiling the end. I chose my words carefully

Does one of the following endings happen:

1) Hugh Jackman's robot beats the odds and wins the game and ends with him starting a makeshift family with the kid and his mother.

or

2) Hugh Jackman's robot comes up a little short and loses but Hugh realizes that the most important thing wasn't winning the fight, but rather the people most important in his life--the kid and his mother. He gives up the fight game (until, of course there is a greenlit sequel) and walks into the sunset with his new family.

If the answer is something close to that or dead-on, then there is no point in seeing the film.

Er, why not?

Those two endings are the only possible endings they can go for anyways, since you pretty much listed "he wins" or "he loses".

people are not going to watch Real Steel for complex plot....

its for the awesome robofights.

Saying that, its not as stupid as spiderman3/transformers 2,3/iron man 2 etc

thats an understatement - those sequels above were truly truly awful.

I think its two things really, too much pressure on the script and also as your budget gets bigger and bigger with more and more people working on the project the director can only do so much so it becomes harder to manage your vision. in a way thats why indy games have some really unique games because the vision and the execution is not screwed around by executives and studios. (and if someone is going to bring up avatar - thats an unfair argument - cameron was obviously given unlimited budget and unlimited time)

and i think the people in Real Steel were all really passionate about the project. actors and everyone behind the scenes.
