Don't disagree with you on them being bitches today. I told my Argentine friend that I'm rooting for them but the ref had calls go both ways.
As for Messi, if he got in Van Gaal's face it was because of some of the banter on the field. Messi is not one to get to that point but I loved it. He's fired up for his selection in the World Cup. I relish in this kind of stuff and am pulling for them and for good futbol in general.

I’m more of a Ronaldo guy and out of all the top players I admire they all have some sort of ego or are a little crazy. ZLATAN, Ronaldo, maradona, pele etc. A lot of the “greats” usually come with these traits whether it be soccer, basketball, boxing etc. I think it what makes them what they are really.
Messi’s character isn’t really like that. He’s usually more level headed and humble. But today he acted worse than all those players

Hyperbole on Messi there. But other points you made are good. I like seeing a fired up Messi and Netherlands talked a lot before and during the game. As many of the spa ish comments said, it's like Maradona came and spirited into Messi.

Same reason why basketball players can’t just hit free throws every time. Imagine having to take 1 free throw every 4 years with your whole country relying on you. Most players wouldn’t want to even take that shot. You need balls to even agree to be in the lineup of shooters. I wouldn’t want to be one of them.
It’s Also why people need to stop downplaying penalty goals. You need players with real character to actively want to take them constantly. Pressure to not miss makes you take a more safer approach which makes the shot more less likely to save.
These misses tend to haunt players forever. Some great players that put in great seasons after seasons are solely remembered for their one penalty miss.

Shit hits hard. As a US soccer fan, Wahl was absolutely a corner stone and unlocked so many riddles in the locker room and beyond. This is a gut punch, and unfortunate as hell. Proud he was courageous enough to wear a pride shirt in that shit hole of a country. I don't wear a tin foil hat, so won't go there, but Wahl was a legend who covered soccer fearlessly - and also discovered/hyped early on LeBron James incidentaly.
Anyway, a horrible way to go but he died watching the sport he loved.

If I go to an X country for a visit. and that country has some rules that don't work for me, I am given 2 options here and ONLY 2. I either:
