I never thought I'd be rooting for France. But I sat next to an Argentinian during the Iceland game back in 2018 and that guy just would not shut up with the trash talk.
Anyway, the game ended with a draw and then he just stormed off in a fuss. I'm not sure where I'm going with this but I want France to win.

I feel you. Argentinians will never shut up if they win, but part of me feels like Messi deserves his WC, as much as I don't want Argentina to win, if that makes sense. The people will make The Church of Messi, if they win. Not joking at all.

I didnt watch the France/Morocco game but looking at the stats, did Morocco outplay them? Their stats showed more ball possessions and shots/crosses.

Yes, Morocco outplayed France but they lacked that cutting edge in the box. Their midfield completely outclassed France’s. The latter just sat back and kept trying to counterattack.

And specifically Spanish-sounding names are very common in France after the huge wave of refugees from the Franco era in mid 20th century. I met so many people with an -ez name (Perez, Perennez, Hernandez) who had a Spanish grandfather but were brittons, parisians or northerners.

I'll repeat this, no matter the outcome this sunday anybody who can be in Argentina should be here. Many are already arriving to live this craziness and share our feelings.
We are really greatful what our team have accomplished because of Scaloni, Messi and the rest. Our country will be a party since we're all together enjoying Messi's last World Cup and we hope he get it.

Ultimately, Ronaldo did it in the EPL. Messi wouldn’t have had his numbers in that league. He’d still be in the debate but with less goals and less assists.

This is the worst take in this thread by far.
Messi consistently dominated the world's game for over a decade, beating your precious premier league clubs time and time and again (the best the league has to offer) but because he didn't play against the mighty stoke or big sam teams he shouldn't be in the conversation?
The spanish league has been outperform the EPL for decades by now, hell Messi's Barcelona even beat Ronaldo's Manchester United in a champions league final lol and quite comprehensively.
