Holy fucking shit. After our old guild fell apart, our core team transferred to area 52, we had a hell of a time getting stable tanks and dps, tonight we finally fucking downed Rags before he gets nerfed into oblivion. Regular rags, but still. We finally fucking got him.

I switched to Combat recently, and holy hell during the Rags fight having killing spree on your bar is like having a loaded gun pointed at your own forehead. If you screw up the timing on that even a little there's like half a dozen fun things you can find yourself standing in.

Blows my mind that KS can be rendered completely worthless in a various amount of fights.

But, I was assassination, soooooo

Thanks! Unfortunately, it was only 10 man. Ideally we're going to transition to a 25 man guild, the horde pop on a52 certainly would support it, but right now we're just trying to get enough people on at the same time to get 10 mans together heh.

Area 52 is really lacking in 25 man guilds, so hopefully you can get one off the ground. It was casual PUG heaven during Wrath, and still has a decent PUG community even now.

Never fails that one of the Rogues kills himself with KS. Always hilarious.

Hahaha, I did that accidentally on H Magmaw. F me.

They should just give the skill a glyph that makes it only strike one target. Yay.

And they were doing so well, too. Kind of eyeing the purple judgment set for my pally with the transmog, and the Lucky Old Mace from Ulduar. Haven't decided on a shield yet, though. Any suggestions for nice shields on a holy pally?

I'm guessing T13 Rogue will have even larger shoulders. To keep in line with the whole spirit of being stealthy and shit.
The problem with shoulders is one of perception; many players look at how big your character looks to determine if they look cool or not. Big shoulders make your character look big and "cool," small shoulders make people perceive you're wearing greens.

True enough. I guess as long it looks good, I wouldn't complain.

RIP World of Warcraft Magazine, we hardly knew ye. http://worldofwarcraftthemagazine.com/

Apparently they're giving codes to the digital purchase pets as a refund offer.

It was expensive. And the print cycle can't keep up with something as dynamic as WoW which changes so quickly at times, but stagnates at others. It was a quality production though, from the previews I saw of it: nothing wrong in that regard.

Let me also add that Blizzard will be heartless and cruel if you can't transmog the Gilnean Top Hat.
As a hunter, can i transmog plate armor? And if i say want to wear cloth armor or something just b/c i like the look of it, it will take on the stats of whatever else i'm wearing?

E.G.

cloth chest guard look ---> lvl 333 mail chestguard stats? is that how it works?

The funniest suicide I've seen was a druid pounce rag. He went flying into his chest and died. lol. To be fair tho, we don't have a rogue.

You can't get anything which is not the same gear, and you should not be wearing any gear which is not the highest armor class you can wear due to specialization bonuses inherent in every class.

No worries.

I don't know how experienced you are at the game; if you're a new player it's not immediately apparent that you lose out on a pretty substantial stat bonus if you start putting on lower classes of armor.

There's a lot of stuff about transmogrification which we don't even have info on yet. The only things we do know is that you're restricted to same armor class, you can't transmogrify legendaries (which is frankly I couldn't disagree with more), and you can't transmogrify "silly" armor or weapons.

Ouch. I got the Eye of Sulfuras. Now I feel a need to farm the massive amounts of stuff needed to finish the hammer. But the bloods and the ingots go for 600+ gold, not to mention that I'll need a huge bunch of arcane crystals and dark iron ore.

I... think I'll keep doing MC for the t2 pants and if I happen to come across more of the materials as I go (and legendaries become moggable), it might be worth the effort.

I'd still rather wait for the bindings to drop and focus my efforts there.

I hope that for dual wielding classes, you dont need to farm 2 of the same weapon for the transmo stuff.

There's 2 really nice Pally shields from the Shattered Sun Offensive vendor at exalted. At work and can't link them, but they're basically designed as Pally shields, can't miss them.

Armor was missing from several characters and a whole shit load of other stuff, including gold. I've been robbed.

they undid my key bindings too the bastards

edit: Seems Blizzard got some of my stuff back.

Maybe I'll switch to Area 52 when we start gearing up for the next expansion (I'll probably always play at expansion releases for the foreseeable future, even if I don't maintain a subscription anymore). A good amount of Gaffers were there (though most aren't playing now from what I understand.)

Otherwise I'm looking at Illidan, Mal'Ganis, or else something up there, but a little less popular/notorious. I've only been on PvE servers, but switching to PvP wouldn't bother me at all. It doesn't make much of a difference most of the time.

Do they only do it to inactive accounts...the stealing....or do they do it to everyone?

Didn't see any answer....Does anyone play on Malygos?

I don't know, but they did, thankfully Blizzard recovered all my items ( I think) and my gold.

It never happened to my inactive accounts before so I guess it was hacking, I don't know how I guess I was just another victim.

If you have an authenticator (be it smartphone app, keychain, or dial-in) you have almost nothing to worry about. And don't use the password you use for your Battle.net account anywhere else (or at least not on any WoW-related websites).

With the authenticators, it's still possible to actually hack, from what I understand, but much more difficult, so you're less of a target of opportunity compared to having your password social engineered or just stripped from some unsecured random WoW website. One stolen account is as good as another for these people.

And no, I don't play on Malygos, nor have I ever. I don't think any of the dozen or so people who keep the thread alive do either, but I can't be entirely sure.

I think they enjoy getting their hands on inactive accounts as there's often free days to claim on them, and as long they don't attempt to change the password Blizzard will not send out any e-mail notification whatsoever when the account is re-activated... which is kind of dumb.

It took me six months to discover what was going on my account, and by that time they had re-activated it three times (two Cata trials, one paid sub) and it was too late to get any of my gold back. Not that I care much about that, but I don't like someone being logged in as me for such a long time and I wish I knew how they got their hands on my password.

Area 52's one and only brush with fame was with that guild that gave the legendary bow to a Rogue. The official boards were crazy for a few days after that.

We should get a guild together....although I doubt there are enough GAFers still continuously playing to get that off the ground?

So supposedly there is some NDA on 4.3 info that is to be lifted tomorrow. I guess they held some sort of press event a few days ago. Hopefully it's true!

Well, that's Zarhym, so guess there's more stuff at least coming.

Between people having multiple characters (it's 25$ to server transfer, $30 to faction change, 55$ to server transfer and faction change per character), friends on their server that aren't on gaf, exalted status with a level 25 guild they like (which it takes a long time to level from 1 to 25), gold, and heirlooms that make leveling easier there's little to no reason for many of us to make make a GAF guild or level a serious alt on a different server.

The Area 52 thing went like this: A few people were looking for a guild for different reasons. New players, no one to play with, guild death, so they decided to go to Area 52 and join a guild a GAF member was in. The guild apparently died.

People in those situations could try it again, perhaps a different guild on a different server, but there's no guarantee the guild won't die or that they'd get a raid spot.

Yeah, that guild on Area 52 wasn't a GAF guild. It was a guild that someone from GAF was in. Language like "It's another one of ____'s friends from that forum." and "NeoGAF people again." were used. It was basically a bunch of guys that were on a first name basis who didn't mind letting in a few strays from a forum.

I still have a 69 Paladin sitting on there that I haven't touched in a while. My main servers are Feathermoon Alliance and Mal'Ganis Horde, though.

Damn, we finally killed Domo tonight (normal) after wiping on him for about 2 and a half weeks. Too bad the healer we had to pug won the tier token, I'll be salty about that one for a while.

Was this posted? Some tidbits from MMO-Champion:

The first new 5-man is called "Endtime" where Nozdormu will show players the future if Deathwing wins.
The second new 5-man, "Well of Eternity" is a journey into the past, the War of the Ancients specifically, to help Thrall recover the Dragon Soul to use against Deathwing.
The third new 5-man, called "Hour of Twilight", has players escorting Thrall in present day to Wyrmrest Temple, where the final battle against Deathwing will take place. (via Joystiq)
The new raid is called The Dragon Soul. It contains eight bosses, and boss 7 and 8 are both Deathwing.
The new legendaries are two daggers (main hand and offhand) that are only usable by all three Rogue specs. Combat Rogues will be made to use these daggers as well without a DPS loss. The questline will revolve around the pure black dragon (from the egg in the Badlands) and features several Rogue-centric elements.
Looking for Raid probably won't share a lockout with Normal and Heroic raids.
Looking for Raid gear will be stronger than the new five man heroics, but weaker than normal raids.
Melee classes will be getting a buff that is only active in the new raid to help them compete with ranged classes.
Epic gems will drop in the new raid (likely on Normal and Heroic only).
Northrend will require 2/3rd of the experience it does now, making leveling alts faster.

Sounds pretty neat, those 5 mans sound really good. I do have a few concerns though.

For starters, I do wish they'd improve the quality and feature set of leveling by adding options for veterans like level-matching, group scaling, heroic leveling, etc, rather than just cutting it down further yet again. A shorter mindless slog is still a mindless slog.

I'm also a little annoyed about the new legendaries. Not the weapons themselves, mind you, what bugs me is that high-end questing should not be restricted simply to such a frivolous niche. Legendaries often have these really great, extremely challenging quest lines and the game has badly needed a real system for those since release. I wish they'd expand them into the main game in a big way instead of outright nonsense like daily chores and the embarrassing Thrall questline.

Also, the melee buff sounds like a really sad piece of work. They really need to be fix issues like that with actual thoughtful design that lets the melee players feel genuinely powerful and useful for a change rather than just toss them some pathetic handicap. Blah.

http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.php?77571-Interview-with-Greg-Street-AKA-Ghostcrawler
I was recently given the opportunity to interview World of Warcraft's Lead Systems Designer, Greg Street, known more commonly as Ghostcrawler, about the upcoming 4.3 patch. It went even better than I had hoped! Read on for some new info about the upcoming legendary dagger(s!), some insight to the logic behind the Firelands hotfixes, a healthy amount of info on the upcoming Deathwing raid, epic gems, and more!

I know we knew this but it's still disappointing. This entire expansion as a whole has been extremely poor in terms of raids. Hopefully those eight bosses will be good.

Well, they dug Illidan back up faster than I figured they would.

I don't know what that airship looking thing is, but it is awesome.

Recycling boss models so blatantly in a 7 (unique) boss tier? Kind of lame, possibly placeholder but I doubt it

There was going to be a 5-man dungeon that was supposed to finish off the story line but it got cancelled. So the story just ends with him getting sucked up.
