Defias Brotherhood if you want a RPPvP server. Just avoid Bladefist!

Edit: I got Deck Defender. Just had to be careful not to kill the Drakes before they drop off the big dudes.

We're getting into account-wide transmog, we have account-wide mounts, just go ahead and give me my account-wide rep already so I can switch mains and look at my bars gleefully.

Exalted factions should be optionally account-bound, but making non-exalted rep factions benefiit from multiple characters is a terrible idea. Could get factions to exalted in a day or two that'd usually take weeks.

Account wide tabards will be cool, though. Got a few old TCG ones on some old twinks/alts that I don't use.

I really hope I'm not stuck tmogging fist weapons if I decided to main my monk again.

And damn, holy shit son.

What was your least favorite class preview?

Hunter 402 2.8%
Priest 490 3.4%
Mage 1601 11.2%
Paladin 842 5.9%
Warlock 485 3.4%
Death Knight 838 5.9%
Shaman 7311 51.2%
Warrior 1408 9.9%
Monk 1846 12.9%
Druid 679 4.8%
Rogue 420 2.9%

That shaman disappointment, felt by all.

As usual, the majority of WoW players have incorrect opinions :)

Holy shit. I thought Warriors would be higher than that, but I neve rexpected Shaman's to take half the vote... Damn.

Not surprised Hunters are the most satisfied. Survival going Melee is an awesome change.

I mean, Warriors got slam back.

The Shaman preview was just fucking boring. No real talk about the secondary system and their 'new abilities' are mediocre shit they had before talked in the vaguest possible sense.

like why the fuck should I be excited about rockbiter? Why is frost shock still part of my rotation? Where's sentry totem?

Is it? I don't remember seeing it on either spec writeup.

They dropped totem from Enh's rotation. That's the kind of major change that if they removed frost shock, it would have also been in the posting.

Ele doesn't use frost shock in their rotation.

They don't explicitly mention the removal of frost shock from enhance, but it's also not in the core rotation list so it's probably gone.

Caution: My word vomit follows below, based on my experience today returning to the game after nearly a year away.

So I came back to the game for the first time since pre 6.1 and I'm just a little overwhelmed and it's been confusing to get going again without consulting a bunch of guides on wowhead, etc. I mean, I guess that's the way it's always been after being absent from the game for awhile, but maybe I just don't have the patience for it anymore...? Worse yet, as I embark on the various things, I'm finding myself a bit bored by what's on offer.

I started putting together a list in my head of all the major things I should do to get caught up and see/experience the best content, and here's where things have gone so far:

- Tanaan; figured a big new Timeless-style zone would be engaging and exciting, but after questing in it for 30-40 mins. I'm bored stiff. Breadcrumb quests and kill quests. I don't know how many more of these I can do, and I haven't even touched the dailies yet that I apparently need to do as part of the larger flying meta achievement.

- Shipyard/Naval Missions; had to begin this to get to Tanaan. It really is just Garrisons round 2. There isn't anything engaging or exciting about it so far. Admittedly, I've only gone on like 3 or 4 missions, but is it really just the same thing again? Find the right set of traits, then counter the enemy threat and click/wait, rinse/repeat?

- Harrison/6.1 Garrison changes; I can't find Harrison. Guess I'm SOL until he shows up to start sending me out into the world to do things? I should probably find a friend who has him to invite me to his/her Garrison, yeah?

- Flying/Meta Achievement; kill me. So I have to:
1. Explore all of Draenor - should be easy enough if a bit time consuming. I think I uncovered most of it via initially leveling.
2. Loremaster it up - complete all the story quest chains. This I don't mind, and I only have one zone (Gorgrond) left to plow through. Levelling was the best part of WoD so I'm strangely looking forward to revisiting the zones where that excitement happened.
3. Master Treasure Hunter - thank goodness I already have this done.
4. Complete 12 Apexis Dailies - UGH. Those horrible daily 'kill everything in this area' quests that you have to compete with 50 other people for? And I only have 4/12 done...
5. Revered with 3 factions I've never heard of - barf. Here we go again. Bunch of dailies. Someone tell me these quests are actually interesting instead of just being kill/collect...? What happened to all those fun quest variants over the years (vehicles, bombing runs, escorts, etc.) - why aren't those ever what the dailies are based on? I mean, I haven't done them yet for these 3 factions so I don't know. I'm just not optimistic...

This is the one big thing I want to do, to make Draenor levelling more fun and quick for alts above 90. But according to wowhead it's gated behind roughly 3 weeks of waiting and daily logging in, which I probably won't be able to do for closer to 2 months...

Overall, it was frustrating coming back to 6.2 and tryin to get excited by the content, and not being annoyed that the fun I'm trying to get to is still weeks away...

I might forget all this for now and go back to the meat of the combat in the game, with heroics, LFR, and PVP. Somehow I feel as though I should do all of the above to appropriately gear for the combat, though. Will I get laughed out of most groups if I'm only about 430-450?

Also, given the weekend bonus, I think I might try pet battles in earnest for the first time.

What I dig is the Heirloom/Level 1 mount changes - that shit's cool. Firing up new level 1 alts and soaring through old familiar, nostalgic content is kind of sweet.

1 & 2, as you say, are very easy. 3 you have done.

4) You can buy most of the missions for 200 Garrison Resources each from the guy just outside the level 3 Horde Garrison. That way, you don't have to wait days and days for them to pop up.

5) Medallion of the Legion adds 1000 rep (1200 rep with Trading Post level 3) to every Draenor faction - Even if you haven't met them yet! I bought 35 or whatever it was, and got exalted with every faction in 5 minutes. Check your AH and see how much they're going for.

I dunno why tannan is supposed to be fun, I did it for like a day on my DK before never going there again.

Aint no comparison to the countless hours I spent ganking people on the timeless isle.

Tanaan is like looking at Timeless Isle and then taking away from it that the thing people like from Timeless Isle was grinding frogs.

Tanaan is crap.

At this point I have everything for the meta apart from the 5000 teeth. Who the hell would grind for 5000 of those? Getting Exalted only got me about 500.

I've only dipped my toes into it personally (waiting on the final daily so I can fly), but I can only agree based on my experiences so far. There's very little fun about it... Catching up on gear is cool, but if it's not enjoyable, what's the point? I actually didn't come back to the game until after 5.4 launched, so when my friend showed me Timeless Isle, my head exploded!

It's amusing, people said the apexis areas were boring, so Blizzard shoved 7 of them into the final zone.

They also doubled-down on Garrison missions.

"Players are complaining that Garrison missions are monotonous busy-work, what should we do in 6.2?"

"I know! We add a chance for the Garrison Follower to die if the mission fails!"

My biggest problem with Tanaan is still that the reward system is fucked up (note I am not saying this is the only problem, I think it has a ton but...). Rares barely drop any apexis crystals (like 20-40) and you can only fight them once per day. Like the whole thing that made Timeless meaningful is that it was a sandbox you could go and do stuff in all the time. If you wanted you could literally spend 24 hours there and never run out of thing to do (even if those things were minor).

I said it a long time ago in the thread but to me Tanaan is basically just trying to straddle a line without achieving anything. It has the big open design of a Timeless isle but it is populated like a very poorly designed daily hub. It loses the appeal of both of those things (no sandbox gameplay and no interesting story/atmosphere). It's very disappointing overall.

Me! I think the Hellboar mount looks awesome and am totally fine with boar mounts now with the changes they made to their animation speed in 6.2. In general though I actually enjoy a good long grind if the reward is worth it, I farmed for the white raptor when it was current and had a lot of fun doing so. I just pop on a podcast and go out and murder tons of dudes.

I don't think Fang'rila is nearly as interesting as the Isle of Giants (mostly because the enemy design in Fang'rila is boring and the enemy placement is annoying) but it's still alright for its intended purpose.

You should be able to ride it. Instead of summoning a mount a gnome engineer should be able to construct a harness, letting you ride one of your pets. Forget Demon Hunters in Legion, it will just be Gnome Hunters. Everywhere. No more Horde, no more Alliance. Just the Steamwheedle Cartel. Riding dinosaurs everywhere.

Yeah it was boring to farm them, but did it anyway. Tanaan was a decent mid-patch zone (like if it were for 6.1), but it's not enough content for a year lol

Apexis bonus areas weren't that bad on their own since you can advance your completion % through methods other than killing mobs, but there was nothing else to do other than completing Apexis bonus areas.

Except that creates a huge problem where there is one efficient way to clear out each apexis area which makes it really boring. It's what I don't like about apexis objectives, in their attempt to offer more open gameplay by having multiple methods of completing an objective they did the exact opposite. Each of those bonus areas I have 1 route I run through them to finish them and then move on, same route every single day with no variance.

Thankfully they seem to realize this based on what they've said about the new objectives in legion.

They were extremely bad in the contexts they were meant to serve: They killed valor and most daily quest grinds, and replaced it with a system that took the worst parts of valor (slow currency accumulation, lousy items to buy with said currency) with and daily grinds (brainless deathball through a huge subzone) and put them in your daily rotation of activities to get you out of your garrison. It was interesting exactly once: the first time you did it. Then it was a chore just like cleaning out the garrison mine is a chore.

The initial 6.0 apexis areas would have been OK I think if 6.1 had introduced a new zone and made them obsolete.

The rep grinds were totally stupid though

Gnome hunters was never on my list but hopefully this leads the way to Undead Paladins.

What I really want is Draenei Warlocks & Druids, no matter how lore inappropriate it is.

When I took my main through Tanaan for Draenor Flying, I did the grind. daily after daily after daily to get revered.

When my partner got there I offered to the do the dailies for her to get flying 'cos I knew how bad the grind was. I lasted just 1 day before I bought her a shit ton of Medallion's from the auction house and gave them to her.

They still had a huge reward problem though. Lets not forget that during 6.0 you could only do 1 apexis zone per day and they gave 800 crystals (1000 if a group one came up) and the gear cost far more than that. I forget the exact numbers now but if you wanted to take a single piece of gear and upgrade it to the highest ilvl it took something like ~1 month to do that for one of the more expensive pieces. Not to mention it was like... 6 slots total? And you had no choice of stats.

Really terrible system, especially coming off the heels of the timeless isle which wasn't perfect but was certainly better than that.

I'm weirdly looking forward to cata timewalking dungeons, even though I hate them all. "new" stuff is still new stuff I guess.

And I'm not used to pvp season ending, will my unspent conquest points be reset to zero?

ZenaxPure

Cata dungeons going to be a huge wake up call to a playerbase that still can't kill Archimonde on Normal with Doomfire removed.

I am really interested to see how Cata timewalking works out. Most of the nerfs back in the day to make them easily done in pugs was number changes. Some of the bosses in those listed dungeons could be pretty ugly if they don't tune it correctly.

Like I am really not looking forward to pugging stonecore if Ozruk is going to be one shotting my tanks like he did at Cata launch.

No, no items scale up

Ahh, alright then. Still, I grabbed this set outta the bank for TBC content as a Prot Warrior.

4pc Onslaught Set (+50 Stamina, +10% Shield Slam Damage)
2pc Prehistoric Marauder (30% damage of damage blocked with shield & shield barrier converted to self healing)
2pc Ymirjar Lord (+20% Shield Slam & Shockwave Damage)
Legendary Cape (DPS)

Amulet... Well, there's the amulet from IoQD rep. Rings can be 100 legendary ring, BfMH, or Ashen Verdict.

Was going to use Skullflame Shield, but if it doesn't scale up, then there's no point.
