World of Warcraft |OT7| Feel the hatred of 10,000 Murlocs

Yeah, I was just coming to post that. In some circles (koff koff), people are saying OMG IT WILL MAKE THE GAME UNPLAYABLE! but like... I dunno... don't be a douchebag in chat and it won't affect you?

From the comments...

I can't possible see how this can be abused by cesspool guilds... <=Sarcasm

Will be interesting to see if we can get the recruiters of rival guilds chat banned. I know we're gonna try it, haha.

any player who is reported multiple times under the Spam or Abusive Chat categories will, after investigation, receive an account-wide silence penalty

I wonder if they'll hand out penalties for mass fraudulent reporting's by a Guild?

EDIT:
Spamming. 24 hour ban. Get friends from other guilds to make reports so it doesn't look like an attack. Most of us have played on this server since Vanilla/TBC, so the forces we could throw at people would be pretty difficult to ignore.

Amazing. Blizzard do something good for the game to make it a nicer place and first thing some people think of is how to abuse it to serve their own needs. Some selfish cunts play this game, I swear.

It says they review the report.

" Depending on the type of report, players who are found to be abusive in chat or engage in inappropriate chat behaviors may be silenced from engaging in certain ways within the game."

PS, this

is pretty damn amazing.

There's no chance they let you guys silence someone for advertising guild shit. It's more likely that you guys get actioned for clogging the system up with bullshit, in fact.

I mean the main issue is you're playing on a TV :/ The resolution is playable, but the resolution at a distance of many feet instead of at your desk is a big difference. I had to scale text up a lot when I played on my TV for a while,a nd that was just 1080p. You definitely can scale everything, but it's going to involve a lot of tweaking of lots of other mods sadly. I would try BetterQuestText or whatever that questing mod is for that stuff.

I understand. I'm just surprised a game with so much customization options lacks options for TVs. I'll definitely take your advice, though. I'll eventually have a desk again, but not until I move into an apartment or something.

So if 150 people report someone for hitting a guild recruitment macro every 2 minutes, you think we're more likely to see an infraction than they are? I doubt it.

Whatever the case, this is going to be abused to hell and back.

Would I like to see less of the clueless right wing babble in trade? Absolutely. Can I live without people calling each other retards in public chat? Of course. Do I think this system will work? Sometimes...

After a year off I set myself these goals for before Legion:

Find the Voidtalon - Done
Get another two or more characters to 100 - Done
Get Draenor flying - Done
Get all Draenor rep mounts - all but Saberstalkers done, going to farm teeth next expansion.
Get the last Zandalari Warbringer mount I need - Done
Fish up the riding turtle - Done (took a fair bit of sanity with it...)
Get Nat Pagle to exalted/Best Friend - with today's dailies done I'll just need four lunkers
Get the legendary ring - one more HFC run should do it.

The fishing parts have absolutely destroyed me, but I'm really pleased with my progress,

Every 2 minutes isn't really spamming. If they review it and that's what was reported they'll probably ignore it.

They actually do have humans reviewing reports

How is it going to be abused to hell and back? Just because people are sending reports doesn't mean any action is being taken against the account. Someone is going to investigate it on the other end and decide whether or not its a violation. And I agree with the above, if people are trying to abuse the system then it would be in Blizzard's best interest to go after them instead.

Nice getting back, but get reminded of some of the worse parts...I know this isn't just a "WoW" issue, but a social issue of internet anonymity, but the frequency of seeing "n*gger" and *f*g" thrown around at times is infuriating.

Need to find a guild that doesn't condone that garbage...the worse part is it appears to be mostly prevalent in the pvp scene which is the part I enjoy the most about this game.

I guess there's nothing we can do except wait & see. I commend Blizzard for giving this a try, but I'm always skeptical when it comes to stuff like this, especially when the report function has been useless for years now.

Boosted a Fire mage before the changes go live, and even on live I just love its playstyle; even though, I'm really squishy, but I can deals the dmg even at low crit and ilevel right now. Fire mage in Legion is even better, can't wait to play it on the PTR later to check it out.

How do World Bosses work in Legion? I just knocked one over while doing a world quest, but when I typed /raidinfo, there's no mention of a lockout... Can I knock it over again this week & get loot? I got 860 shoulders from that first kill...

Account-wide chat ban is kinda scary. I mean yeah some people will be assholes, but I just fear it might be abused.

Because as of late some of my guild has been under report attack on the main forums, simply for recruiting. Mostly our main recruiter/guild administrator who happens to be female. And she's apparently been harassed in the past by some WoW people as well. The ticket responses have been very robotic/canned from what I've heard.

Just a heads up, if you're playing Alliance on a US server. Asmongold who is a big WoW youtuber is doing free Moose runs on July 15th starting at 8pm CST until he can't do it anymore.

Perfect for anyone who wants to get one and fall under those criteria.

It's about time they added MOBA style communication penalties to toxic communication reports. Now they just have to implement them properly, i.e. don't let a multi-boxer abuse them. If they do this right, it's going to be great. Something needs to change about the global chat channels.

*Places gold cap on* Hopefully anyone who uses trade for anything other than trading can be reported.

They use this system in HotS and have done a great job with it. Anytime someone claims the system was abused on the forums usually have their chatlogs thrown back at them from the match they were "falsely" accused/reported for.

I don't think you'll see that world quest this week again, is the thing.

Is there a video/article somewhere that summarises everything that is new/changed in legion? I've been an on and off casual player for a few years...last time (around 5 months or so ago i stopped playing) i managed to get a character to about level 85 or so but then stopped so want to know whats coming if i choose to start playing again.

(the levelling experience was horrible from about level 60 or so as you burn through zones so quickly its difficult to know whats going on storywise as you out level the zone well before you do all the quests)

Haha, I'll have to go looking through some of those threads.

Can you get reported for typing in /g? I'm not at my PC to check, and I'm not sure off the top of my head.

I need a bit of clarification on the pre-patch and what happens with it up to Legion's launch. Will the world events start with the pre-patch or do they begin at a later date? And will all events allow gear to be collected to get ready for Legion? I'm trying to figure out if Tanaan is worth messing with anymore for gear.

I have the UI scale up high-- forgot to mention that. But thanks for the advice. I had Chatter already, but I'll mess around with Bartender to get it to play nice with the rest of the game. I'm hoping Blizzard figures something out for text on big resolutions and screens as 4K and the like become more popular.

Spartan UI has a pretty large toggle for the art work it uses for the UI. Might be worth checking out.

It says they review the report.

I've had people suspended from the game for mildly annoying me by doing little more than reporting them, with no evidence, with just the word "griefing". For one of those suspension, a blue responded to me in game asking for proof and I pointed out that I'm not required to provide proof, just the report and closed the chat window.

Don't assume them reviewing anything means something.

What would you say is the best way to do this? I've afk camped while watching TV, Server hopped like a Madman at spawn points on server reset, and done the same for hours outside of server resets to see if I get lucky.

Nothing so far :(. Is it just repeating the above methods and luck?

Blizzard has a pretty clear set of guidelines:

Violations of our Terms of Use or Forum Code of Conduct may result in warnings, suspensions, or permanent account closure. The following list is not all-inclusive, and we reserve the right to take action for offensive behavior not mentioned on this page.

Note: If you feel a player has violated our policies, please report them for investigation.

MINOR VIOLATIONS

Harassment or Defamation
Insulting other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people in-game and externally.
Note: Ongoing harassment will lead to more severe penalties.

Spamming
Using the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish excessively.
Repeating the same phrase more than once in a period of 30 seconds.
Advertising in-game gambling or casinos.

SERIOUS VIOLATIONS

Obscene or Vulgar Language
Using language that is crude, offensive, or pornographic in nature.
Referring inappropriately to human anatomy or bodily functions.

Illegal Drugs or Activities
Referencing abuse of illegal drugs.
Referencing illegal activities.

Advertising
Advertising non-beneficial, non-Blizzard related businesses, organizations, or websites.

Copyrighted Materials
Including copyrighted material in user-created content without approval.

Hindering Teammates
Going AFK or refusing to participate in a team game.
Intentionally dying in a team game to benefit the opposing team.

SEVERE VIOLATIONS

Real-Life Information and Threats

Threatening someone with real-life violence or harm.
Distributing another player's, or a Blizzard employee's, real-life information (name, address, phone number, etc.).
We will not tolerate real-life threats or distribution of personal information in our games. We apply severe penalties in these cases and engage local law enforcement to ensure the safety of all parties involved.

Racial, Ethnic, or National
Promoting racial, ethnic, or national hatred.
Using a racial, ethnic, or national slur.
Alluding to symbols of racial, ethnic, or national hatred.

Extreme Sexuality or Violence
Referring to extreme and/or violent sexual acts.

Religion
Negatively portraying major religions or religious figures.
Insulting or negatively portraying someone based on their religious orientation.

Exploitation
Exploiting bugs, abusing game mechanics, or cheating the game. See our Exploitation Policy article for more details.

GRIEFING OTHER PLAYERS

Our games allow players to interact in a variety of ways—not all of them constructive. You may encounter players that steal resource nodes, lead monsters to new areas, or block access to NPCs or other in-game objects. Our GM team will not intervene in these situations, unless the offending player commits one of the violations listed above.

For World of Warcraft PvP realms, visit our PvP policy page for more information.

GUILD CHAT

Because of the voluntary nature of guild participation, we take a more lenient stance in guild channels. Only the most severe violations (i.e. Racial/Ethnic/National, Extreme Sexual/Violence, Real-life Threats) will be considered.

Sorry Anal [Rupture], etc. fans but according to the guidelines spamming that shit in trade chat is a reportable offence. Albeit a minor one.

They're using the same approach and scaling penalty for toxic communication reports from Heroes of the Storm, they record chat logs in game. I don't think there's been many, if any, false positives with HotS mutings for toxic assholes.

http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/forum/topic/20745166459

WOW I am soooo disappointed. Anytime anyone on the team has a problem and gets toxic I report them, and type reported. But I guess when you do that they will report you for reporting them. I did not break any rules, but I am silenced,. Thanks Blizzard. do you even LOOK at the reports, or is the terms of service only for show?

For confimration, you were not silenced for reporting others. You were silenced for using chat like this:

2016-06-07 19:25:03LILI WHAT THE (double expletives) ARE YOU DOING (expletive noun)
2016-06-11 10:46:50 kill tracer noobs (religious figure) (obscene word)

2016-06-14 00:35:25 AWSOME the (offensive words) THAT CANT REPLY TO MY INSULTS TOOK MY PICK
2016-06-14 lol I will (politier word would've been 'mess with') with him the whole game now

Do dungeons feel rewarding while leveling? I never do WoD dungeons until 100 because the XP per kill is shit and I don't feel the completion bonus is better than just questing instead of waiting for a queue. (Unless this has changed since the last time I did one.)

Bleah, I want to do all the optional bosses in Brawler's Guild but one of them drops from Darkmoon Faire prizes and that just ended last weekend. I guess I'll have to leave that one unchecked until it rolls around next month. Maybe I'll have my team of moths ready to kill Doopy by then.

Well normal dungeons are tuned so people who can barely handle a 3 button rotation and not move out of fire can easily complete them. There are actually human beings that can't get silver proving grounds in WoD, that's what normal is for.

Also, bravo to blizz for the silencing mechanics for players, hope it works out. Will this make the really overpopulated servers trade chat be readable? I transferred off of mal'ganis because of that, have to repeat everything you say 15 times otherwise you wouldn't notice it.

Brawler's Guild is closing once the next patch drops for a while and that's more than likely going to be before the next Darkmoon Faire, so you won't be able to fight that optional boss. Perhaps the item will still drop and you can still go into the Brawler's Guild are and turn it in, though.

Yes the next DMF is in August, so if they are taking down Brawler's Guild I guess I'll miss out on that achievement.
