It really should click over at 12EST, we kinda get fucked over on the east coast, but what can ya do?

I'm sitting here watching a bunch of people RP in front of the portal and wiping wave after wave of Orcs off the map...

Super hyped.

After attempting to quest at launch on Stormrage for MoP, I think I'm going to take this one a bit easier and get up tomorrow to play instead. The first 4-5 quests took over 2 hours, literally took more than 10 minutes after clicking on the little helicopter to get onto it for the bombing run and the quest itself took like 15 minutes because you had to kill the horde and hit the explosive barrels before they showed up on your screen. So many people in a row that everyone just blurred together, only way you could tell you moved was the camera moving.

This is the first expansion I'm skipping. Was always day one. Now I'll either wait for a huge price drop or just might skip all together. Panda exp killed wow for me. Orc theme just doesn't really do anything for me either. Tried coming back a few weeks ago and nothing grabbed ahold of me.

I miss the old days of alterac valley bg. Lasting hours and or days. Felt like a real struggle. Not so much now. Wish they had official vanilla servers. Would sign up for that in a heart beat.

I don't have much time to play this week but I bought the expansion just in case. Going to start by leveling my shaman (main since TBC) and see what's up at max level. Didn't have any idea what class to boost, so I went for a rogue on the same server but Alliance rather than Horde so I can check out the story bits on that side.

Not particularly hyped, but I'll probably play for a good few weeks.

For the next couple months there will be a 40v40 tarren mill vs southshore BG!

Vanilla servers would be the worst thing ever.

Though you may enjoy the 10th anniversary Tarren Mill BG that's coming in a few weeks. 40 vs. 40.

edit: damn, beaten again!

The good old 6 hour Alterac zergs were always nice.

You and others would and then realize how janky Vanilla really was, take the tinted goggles off...

MoP was a fantastic expansion, and I look forward to going backward...

Hm, I've been looking at this expansion with interest. I only played for about two months when Cataclysm came out before school, work, and life in general took over everything for me. I'm interested in coming back but I'm slightly worried about how things have changed since then. Do you guys have a guild or something along those lines or a guide on how the game has changed since then?

Vanilla servers would be the worst thing ever.

Kind of agree with that. If they do a vanilla server, a lot of people would board the hype train and when they realize what vanilla actually was the server population would go downhill real fast. Not to mention the community mentality has changed a lot since back then.

Anyway, I'm glad WoW has changed to what it is today, not saying every change is perfect, but the state of the game never ceased to improve. I'm not that hyped but I'll gladly play WoD for a while.

hypehypehype, 8am UK is when NA launches so I'm gonna head to bed and wake up fresh around 6 or 7. See you guys on the other side!

Panda expansion just wasn't my thing. Leveled to 90 and parked my character in hopes the next expansion would be badass. Well, hopes granted can't wait for tomorrow.

Quit in January and thought I would come back for this but I think I'm over it...for now at least. Looking forward to clearing my Steam backlog (yeah right lol)

Agreed. I always say that everything around the game (the community, friends and family playing, sense of discovery due to lack of datamininig/internet resources, etc.) was great back then. Probably greater than it is today. But the part where you actually have to play the game is much, much better now than in the early days.

Anyone in SoCal going to the Launch Event? A couple of friends are going, but I won't be able to make it until about 8p, don't know if it will be worth it at that time. Any launch event pics?

Servers are crapping out. Constant dc's, extreme latency, world server down. One hour left 'till launch, but I don't think the server is going to hold out (Argent Dawn - EU).

The whole server being gathered at the Dark Portal has something to do with it I guess :>

Hmm, I think I'll just wake up tomorrow morning.

The NPC names in front of the Portal are awesome. They are using real titles like Crazy Cat Lady. I even spotted Astrylian tanking as a bear. He was in my guild for a time. I'm wondering if those will be some of our followers.

MoP is one of the best expansions the polish and story is super fun the quests are fun. Also visiting Draenor before it become outland is just awesome.

And vanilla servers? Yeah never gonna happen this game has changed and with good reason times change and so do i and even the dev's are getting older like i do.

Also 10th Anniversay will get 100 vs 100 Tauren Mill vs Southshore. 40 man Molten Core. You will get a cute molten corgi and when you kill Baron Geddon in 40 man MC level 100 special edition you will earn a title and get a fucking Molten Core hound mount.

So what's the chances of people being able to play at all over the next few days? I haven't been around for any of the expansion launches but I'd imagine the servers aren't going to survive. Has any expansion launched smoothly?

I'll be picking this up later in the year most likely, looks like an awesome bunch of content.

Next few days? I would say 100%. It might be fucked up at launch but it won't last a few days.

Next few days = 100%. Tonight? Not sure. Mists was pretty smooth. Once it hit at midnight everyone just headed to Pandaria and went. Didn't have to log off or anything and the two servers I play on didn't have any major issues.

That being said, it sounds like some people are already experiencing server problems today, so I guess it's a bit of a toss up at the moment.

On the more popular servers there can be ques of 2+ hours, but the servers themselves usually hold up pretty well.

MoP launched really smoothly, had no server crashes on Stormrage. The only problem was the quests taking forever due to how many people were around.

I don't know if this is a more prevalent feeling, but to me this feels like much more of an event than panda expansion did. I remember many people being like :/ when pandaria was announced, but WoD seems to be much more appealing to lots of players. It is to me at least.

Which should be partially solved now by the fact that pretty much anyone can tag anything, group or not.

I'm so close to getting back into it, but all the people I played with have moved on elsewhere, or stopped playing. The big appeal was playing with those people, not sure what to do.

Could be. I don't remember the numbers around Pandaria's launch, but I know Blizzard said there was a 600,000 subscriber increase back in early October since June and I'd imagine that number is even larger at this point.

Just find a guild that has some awesome people :)

Although, I do agree it makes it so much fun when your RL friends are playing with you as well.

My wife started playing with me at the beginning of the year which has been great!

Ehh, the big problem wasn't really with the tagging. The objects you had to destroy for the first few missions were being destroyed right as they spawned, as in before the game could load them onto your screen. You basically had to spam keys and hope you got lucky. They could probably fix this if they employ some heavy phasing into the first few quests this time around.

edit: also, it took more than 10m to get onto the helicopter

Amazon UK has charged me today, but still hasn't shipped my CE. Feels bad. On the bright side, when I get my game next week I won't be caught up in the rush.
